Oh Man, I love this video.The Bamboo tap was my Uncle Joe's tavern.He owned it.THE ORIGINAL Bamboo was. In down town Gary along with the Ton of Fun Bar.When Joe married Dorthy.then they open just the Bamboo on 39th.They also lived in the attached house.They sold the 2 bars in downtown Gary.My Dad even bar tended a couple nights a week.So many memories and crazy stories.My uncle n my Dad have since past away.Thanks Brother for the great memories.✌

Most of us who have lived near or traveled this route are often clutching are tissues as we see the old places again. Plenty of snow lately here in Feb 2022. . You ended where I grew up. Parents build the house at 3864 Washington St. Still stands and looks great and sticks out as the well maintained house. Built in 1949 by my parents for $32,000 which was a lot of money back then.

Grew up in Gary. 42nd and Tennessee St. in the 60's. Went in the Marine Corps and live in West Va., now. Love seein' the old neighborhoods, man. Thanks for the vids, bro.👍👍👍👍👍

Wow, that brought back memories. I lived on 38th and Connecticut, and went to Glen Park school from kindergarten to 6th grade. You drove buy many of the homes of childhood friends on 39th Avenue. Hard to look at them in ruins as they are now. Thank you so much for what you do for us. It means a lot!

Say what they will about Gary, abandoned homes and all,the structures occupied or not still stand,and for the most part a blind man can see it was beautiful at one time, and it can be again. Thanks Storm. PS: we call them abandominiums

We took this route to highland to take our son to school from Hobart. We used to go to Broadway until they took out the traffic lights. We now turn on Georgia to 45th. One time across from the pool there was a guy taking a nap in the grass on his bike laying down. Today they had 39th and Georgia police taped off and a ton of police there.

Wow! When you said. "" I used to know somebody that lived in that house right there" The green one that's having remodeling done to it? I bought that house I'm the one whose remodeling it LOL.. Total gut and rebuild. I mean that place was in bad shape.. everything needed to be gutted down to the framing and I remove the wall from the kitchen leading to the family room so it's one big room.. I still got a long ways to go but walking inside you wouldn't recognize it if you've been in it before.. I like that it's easy access to 65 installed cameras all over and have it hook up via my cell phone and my neighbor that lives over there I don't know too much about that area other than it's almost in Gary but I figured I may invest a little bit in security.. It's really not that bad right there I haven't had any issues and I bought that place a year-and-a-half ago everybody seems really friendly the neighbors are all extremely nice

Awesome little ride with ya. Hey, any chance you ever driving out to Burns harbor and looking at Old Midwest steel and Bethlehem steel and that sort of deal and I know it's a little far out of Gary but still the steel City if you know what I mean.

Just drove down that road Friday. I feel sorry for the owners who still live among the ruins and take care of their homes.

The dog fighting house that was an awesome explore and that's wild the demon house property is fenced off now I haven't been to Gary in a couple years the roads still look like shit their lol

I drove up the Highland about 3 weeks ago to grab some Polish food from Dan's Pierogies and on my way back I decided to drive by Lew Wallace. I ended up on 39th.. and decided to drive by the demon house. At that time there was no fence around it. Maybe somebody watching this from the area may know why it's fenced offed.

I've always been curious because the people I bought it off of they was going to rent it out or something but it ended up being more work than they thought.. they didn't know anything about the previous owners either. But anyhow any info you can give me would be much appreciated thank you
