Those old electric, dual blade, meat carving knives that you always see in the thrift stores work really great for cutting foam, fiberglass insulation and Styrofoam accurately and neatly. Mine looks like it was made in the 70's, it does exceptional work and it's come in handy several times. Nice work refreshing that old unit!
We have used the ru-vid.comUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!
Love the welder and fix. Love the Dog. Love the Fresca. Love the bit about the oil. IMO multi-grade oil is crap and a scam, had a Crown Vic w/ over 450K on the original motor (115K when I bought it), ran the hell out of it constantly (100+ mph w/ the a/c on) and never ran anything but straight 40w of no particular brand, changed maybe every 5 - 10K. Pretty sure I'll get over the 6 extra miles of fuel mileage that practice cost me; rest of the car finally wore out but the motor still ran great and the a/c blew cold.
Really nice find Moe! That is one handy little machine. Whenever I’m stick welding I always remember what I was taught long ago. “If it slags, it drags”
I appreciate you explaining things like oil deterioration to the depths you do. It really gives a well rounded view while working on machines. I'll add it to the ol memory bank.
@@sixtyfiveford Hell yeh, brings you drinks, balls, inspects and assists with your repairs etc etc, anyone would think she's the boss, or the star of the show🤔🤣👍
Nice, I have heard people grumble that those are getting hard to find. Had one on a trailer that was pto driven on the farm I worked for in the early 1980s.. We used an olderMassey Ferguson diesel. It would run the welder at almost idle.
A pal moved here years ago from Florida to work on the atomic power plant a little way from here. He got a portable about like that with a single cylinder Kohler, around 18 horse and did all sorts of jobs with it. He was x-ray certified and ended up at the boulder hole. That's a nice rig and Ginger was hiding outside as you brought it in. Thanks, Pal and God Bless!
this is an awesome unit. lucky you to be able to pick it up for a reasonable price. that's the beauty of buying distressed items. you can get things that would otherwise be priced beyond what one could afford. in perfect shape, this would cost more than a small used car.
Looks so Nice now You could add a removable table on top to hold all your supplies Simple frame made from conduit with some bolts with wing nuts holding it
I've had your channel in my subscribed list for over a year but had never watched one of your videos. That's gonna change! I really enjoy your presentation, wide skill set and your dog! Thanks for sharing 😊
Nice find and save! While not searching, I've had my eyes and ears open for one of those for years. Super handy piece of equipment to have at the ready! Thanks for sharing👍🏻 and thank you Ginger for supervising and guarding the truck😉
Hey thanks. Honda made a great unit years ago and generally their dirt cheap. There model starts with EW(engine welder). They had the EW170 EW171 and EW140.
Hey buddy..i agree with you on the briggs vanguard they are great engines..i have a Lincoln weld and power welder with the kohler 10 hp industrial engine it's really huge compared to other 10 hp..it was given to me 5 years ago and wasn't running .. cleaned the points and now it works well it's pretty old too must weigh 350 lbs or more i had to put new wheels and tires on it also..I'm happy with it.. you will be as happy with yours as well great find..always enjoy seeing Ginger she is so smart..take care friend see you on the next one Cheers 🍺🍺🍺🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Just want to point out that the vanguard engines are made by dihatzu (Toyota) and that's why they are so good. I have this exact welder I wish I could find a manual just to see what hobart has to say about matinence and stuff
Jack’s Small Engine for air filter housing? McMasters-Carr may have the generic motor mounts. It’s a good machine to have around the shop. All the best sir!
Nice job overall. Some people have better luck with Briggs engines than I do as the only one I ever had was on a Husqvarna made Craftsman snow blower that wasn't disappointing, only the carburetor was one of those Nikki things, kind of a pain to work on. I have a 25 year old Vanguard V-Twin on a Cub Cadet Series 2000 that has been a thorn in my side for quite a while. More recently I had to get an air filter for it and thought a filter for a Kohler Command Pro would work since they were similar dimensions. It was too tall so I modified the mounting bracket to just accept it. Basically I just replaced the threaded stud on the bracket with a 1/4-20x1.5" carriage bolt, locking washer, nut, fender washer and wing nut and it made it so I didn't have to special order it.
I see what you did there, making Ginger pump up your high lift pallet jack at :14 sec. Love those little video editing. But seriously another great video.
Great machine for smaller projects. Why don't they make them anymore? I suspect because by making them separate you have to purchase two machines and not just one. Mo Money for them I think. Just a thought. Great job fixing this generator/welder. Thanks for the videos.
This particular model just isn't made anymore. They still make them, they're just not very common. They're geared more towards industrial so the price point is really high. If they make more diy versions I don't see why they couldn't get the price down closer to that of a stand alone generator.
There a handy little unit i had the Miller but when she died it was due to a circuit board the repair shop wanted 750$ to get it fixed so I replaced the unit with a newer one
Detergents were added to oils to carry all the metal, carbon, dirt, water etc around with the oil so an oil filter could remove it. Non detergents allow all these bad things to settle to the bottom of the engine case and be drained out with oil changes. If you're engine doesn't have an oil filter using detergent oil is essentially forcing all your lubricated parts too continuously eat all the harsh contaminants. This causes unnecessary wear. Non detergents were key in all cars until oil filtration became the norm in the 50's, then you could use detergents. The only drawback to non detergents is you could build up sludge(settled particles) with severe neglect and seldom/infrequent oil changes.
Thanks for your videos. I'm working on a Lincoln Weldanpower G3000. Same engine, different generator. It's not producing power. Any advice on where to get info to troubleshoot it? Thanks again.
This guy, the renaissance man says in order for the foam to cut beautifully like butter you have to have a razor sharp knife and then he pauses just long enough to think and then to say: “which I always do” had me rolling lol
I used to own a ew171 but don't recall the exact quick connect connector. You can buy new male/female for pretty cheap amzn.to/3W13KBE . Just drop the panel off and install these. Or if you look around you should be able to find the correct ones. You could also go to boats.net and look up a parts schematic and see if oem ones are still available.
I've watched this video probably 10 times, out of pure jealousy. Awesome little machine. But I've never caught the dog's legs pumping up the cart before lol. Very classy haha
About 35 years ago I almost had an multi-fuel engine driven rolling AC/DC welder/generator for $100. I don't remember the make, but it was big and blue and rolling on four 8" pneumatic tires. An elderly gentleman was selling off his mechanics tools, of which I bought quite a few items, including a five foot long three and a half ton floor jack for $20. Then he rolled out this generator and said he wanted $100 for it. I said great, but now I have to go to my bank. When I got back with the cash, apparently his son had dropped by and told the old feller that he wanted it, and not to sell it. So missed out. Can't blame the son though, I would of done the same thing in his place. Super disappointing!
