Hobbles are an interesting project for braiders, but in my opinion also indispensable and essential to get a horse educated and get it completely broke.

I found in Bruce Grants book, a set of hobbles he called braided Gaucho hobbles, supposedly brought back from Argentina by Edward Larocque Tinker, while writing his book, " Los Jinetes de las Americas y la literature Por Ellos Inspirada" Anyway I made a set using veg tan cow hide, which I use on my horse. Keep the knowledge coming on these areas of horsemanship.
