* I produced this video to warn you that Pulse Jets are not for the faint of heart and must be handled like fire bombs. If it bothers you, then it worked. Serious injury or burns can result if you do not take plenty of precautions, especially ear protection. Not recommended for RC aircraft and frowned on by the AMA, I can see that inexperience could hurt folks, so please be careful. Really wanting one of the Red Head Dyna Jet for years (that are still being manufactured) Hobbyking came out with a clone for $99 so I ordered one with hopes of putting it on my F-18. Not wanting to take any chances, as it is dry here, I decided to do put it on a Converted to UKIE Storm launcher from Jeff's suggestion instead.
Here is the engine startup procedure. You will need a Separate Ballast Tank for air and a compressor to keep it full, when starting at the field. Please be careful and lets see what you come up with.

lol, that was quite funny. At the NATS we see control line Pulls Jets, they're always amazing to watch and listen to. Although, just some advice, watch out for it melting and spitting out molten metal out the back. Does awful things to a nice paint job. Also, run it outside.

Wow! That is some serious thrust that was putting out. And it was amazing how quick you could see the exhaust pipe heat up! I remember as a kid finding out about pulse jets and thinking how easy they sounded to make and run. I never tried, and I am glad I didn't. I surely would have done myself in. I can't wait for part 2! By the way, did you get the chance to check out my aerial Veterans Memorial video? I thought you would like the slow-mo flyby of the Marine Corps flag.

That thing has some power! The mounts started to move. Dave have you seen the new Estes Proto X? Worlds smallest quadcopter. I bought one, flies incredibly well for being so small (the remote is too small and uncomfortable though).

Hey Dave ive been watching your videos for the last 5 years and never got around to owning an plane but heres an idea i have for you Imagine a typical scale A-10 that is capable of flying around with the stock EDF's and when pitched in a dive you light up a Dynajet PULSEJET thats mounted to the plane to hear a deafening roar just as the real A-10 Warthog does with its unique strafing gun!!! What an idea!!! I believe that we as humans should all work collectively together , that is why im openly throwing this great idea out to the web! Just think, A typical EDF A-10 Warthog with an addition of fuel tanks in the hull and small wing tanks. The tanks would fuel a Dynajet pulse jet engine mounted on top of the plane (preferably centered with the fuselage to make it balanced,; the tip flush with the ducted fans would be cool) complimented with a tuned, intake/ fuel/ ignition system that is able to auto start, mid flight (easily doable). =)

I have an original pulsejet. Not the HK knockoff and I remember my neighbors called the cops when I ran it. I only ran it twice. It really is a Crazy jet!. Also mine always started best by holding my air wand Away from the air tube to blow air in! Instead of pushing against it.

Yes the originals were better. I lost all my models and this engine in the fire on 911, 2016, and don't expect to ever get another as your right.....Too loud!

Yep, last line in the movie will motivate me to do so when the snow flies. If I can round up Jeff, I cant wait to see what happens too. I need to put a pole in the ground to hang on to, as this thing is supposed to go around very fast. Wonder how long the tank will last, as I may get dizzy at that speed. Do you know that thing called a manometer on your compressor ? Yes ! Ok, let's start your engine with domestic petrol and with less than 30 psi at first. Then go up progressively until you find the correct ignition acceleration for your plug... :-)

You sir are the reason insurance is required by everyone these days. Who in their right mind would run a petrol jet engine that does not have a throttle in their garage at night next to their car and holding it down with bungee cords. Your wife and neighbours must love you. If anything this should be a video supplied by HobbyKing on what NOT to do.

That is exactly why I made the video and showed the warnings. I hoped to wake up a few of the sleepers and armchair pilots, as this is engine is not something that just any one should buy and think it is as easy as the ads say. Believe me, it was locked down in front and back, 3 fire extinguishers too, but no one expected it to start. My wife and neighbors do love me, cause this is the first time I ever did this and it was only 4 seconds. Thanks for the comments.

I appreciate you showing people but it sure didn't look like it was secured at the back end. I jave seen comments from beginners asking what trainer RC aircraft this could br put into. No insult was intended more shock from the viewer. I would have loved to have seen your face when it did start.

I tested the Buzz Box out on my ER90 Pulse jet and it would not start.Put my car can coil back on and it started instantly.The Hobby King buzz box is no good for easy starts.Full Stop.

Should try starting it on propane or butane then switch over to gasoline

I've never seen any green gasoline. Most of buyers are trying with glow plug fuel, formely nitromethanol, which is not accurate at all as it need at last 60 PSI to ignite well :-)

Of course wont. Only the Stock Stormlaunchers worked on water as my other vids show. This is too heavy.

***** Who are you trying to kid? It obviously wasn't restrained properly!!! Your shock at the end of the engine run was evident. You added the commentary with warnings afterwards. I'm a turbine flier, I don't need educating by someone like you. If you want to help people understand how dangerous jet engines are then try giving a faultless demonstration with adequate precautions. THAT was not it. Unbelievable.

Yes. This was much harder to start than the original Pulse jets I had.

Yep almost all gas these days has 10:% White lightning, especially here in Iowa. It is only in Super and is cheaper than regular by 10 cents. Dont know if using plain gas worked or not, as I think my air supply was the main issue. LMFAO2
