Please visit www.horizonhob... for more information on the HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2 Ultra-Micro RTF & BNF Trainer Airplane.
The HobbyZone® Sport Cub S 2 is based on one of the all-time most popular trainer aircraft ever designed for learning to fly radio controlled (RC) airplanes-the legendary Sport Cub S. It’s ultra-micro size makes it the ideal choice for a smaller trainer model that can be flown in yards, parks, soccer fields, football fields and other suitable spaces where larger models can’t typically be flown successfully by first-time pilots. Exclusive SAFE® (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology helps to prevent overcontrol, loss of orientation and crashes so nearly everyone can learn to fly successfully. Beginner, Intermediate and Experienced modes allow you to choose the level of stability and control you need, or are ready to try, at the flip of a switch.
Welcome to the exciting world of RC (Radio Controlled) flight! If you’ve ever dreamed of taking to the skies, Horizon Hobby has you covered. We are committed to engineering aircraft that you can learn to fly with successfully even if you’ve never flown RC before. Every HobbyZone® aircraft we offer features industry-leading design and technology developed by experts to keep you in control and learning at your own pace so you can turn your dreams of flight into a reality!
The HobbyZone® Sport Cub S 2 makes learning to fly RC airplanes in more places and smaller spaces easier than ever! Based on one of the most popular trainer aircraft ever designed for learning to fly radio controlled (RC) airplanes-the legendary Sport Cub S -it’s ultra-micro size makes it the ideal choice for a smaller trainer model that can be flown in large yards, small parks, soccer fields, football fields and other suitable spaces where larger models can’t typically be flown successfully by first-time pilots. Install the optional float set (EFLUA1190, sold separately) and you can add large pools and small ponds to the list of places you can fly! Plus you can instantly return to stable flight using Panic Recovery in any flight mode. This makes the Sport Cub S 2 a natural evolution of the trainer many pilots learned to fly with because it includes all of the same great features, while also adding new telemetry capabilities that send flight battery voltage to the transmitter to make the pilot better aware of approximately how much “power” remains.
And the fun doesn't stop after you learn how to fly! It’s lightweight yet durable airframe is equipped with a powerful electric motor that delivers long flight times and provides plenty of speed and power to perform aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls and even inverted (upside down) flight. That means the Sport Cub S 2 is a model even experienced pilots will appreciate and enjoy flying - and can also use to teach others to fly. The Bind-N-Fly® Basic version (HBZ44500) is the perfect choice for those pilots because it allows them to use their favorite Spektrum™ transmitter along with batteries and chargers they may already own. And the Ready-To-Fly version (HBZ44000) is perfect for first-time pilots because it includes a Spektrum™ controller/transmitter equipped with industry-leading DSMX® 2.4GHz technology, AA batteries for the transmitter, plus a rechargeable LiPo flight battery and USB charger. That means there’s nothing extra to buy or provide! Best of all both versions arrive 100% factory-assembled and ready to fly right out of the box - no assembly required!

The Sport Cub S 2 is Ready-To-Fly (RTF) for $139.99. That means it includes a transmitter, battery and charger as well, and there's nothing extra to buy or provide. The UMX Turbo Timber is Bind-N-Fly (BNF) Basic for $139.99, meaning it requires a transmitter ($70+), charger ($20+) and battery (~$10) to fly it...which makes it closer to ~$240+ to be the equivalent of Ready-To-Fly. Definitely not an apples-to-apples comparison.

Anyone know how to get more forward trim out of this? I'm using full forward trim, battery as far forward as it will go, and it still wants to pitch up into a stall at anything above about 40% throttle. aside from a weight in the nose, what other adjustments could I make?

What is the difference between the S and S2? I learned to fly on the S, and tore it down for parts after the moter died from excessive use. I have not flown in any capacity besides once in October of last year since mid 2018 and I am considering getting this to retrain myself. Also, the example crash in the video was nothing. By the time I was done with my first one, the leading edge of the wing had multiple quarter size holes in it, the tail had been ripped off one or twice, and it had survived other ridiculousness like one day, while my dad was flying it, he lost pitch control due to a fold in the horizontal stabilizer at about 100ft. It then flew out of range twords my schools sports field (we were about 20 ft away from it where our yard ended, and I had a path where I would walk to school). So we walked over to the school, and then looked around for a while to find it upside down after presumably hitting a chain link fence for preventing baseballs for hitting the crowd. It was undamaged after about a 500ft uncontrolled flight. It kept flying until the moter died from crazy use.

I think the addition of telemetry is the only difference.

2 stars. It flies ok. when the wind is 5mph, it can't fly in the wind because it is so underpowered. What happens is when you fly against the wind, the plane's nose rises and then turns back into the opposite directions. Severely underpowered. It would have been nice if it had a brushless motor. Another problem is the under cambered wing. even when there is no wind, but i am at 100% throttle, the nose rises and then it stalls. Its impossible to fly unless it is in beginner mode because of the self leveling gyro. I don't have these issues with my carbon cub at all when in advanced mode. other wise really nice plane. extremely durable. I was flying this in my street once and it accidentally hit a house and fell and crash. The wing cracked but i reinforced it with tape. Its practically indestructible, and even when it does break, extremely easy to repair.

Great video. Helps. I know this is the Sport cub S2 but I want to mention in my Night vapor manual, no where does it specify the flight mode positions. It states there is a switch for them and where it is but no details on Wich position is beginner and advanced. This confirmed it for me. The only thing I noticed on the vapor is the blue light on the receiver will only be on in Safe mode Wich helps. Also the right stick clicks click down for the dual rates for elevator and rudder so the led flashes while in slow dual rate for more beginner friendly flights. Thanks for the video Horizon!👍👌

Was the version 1 made out of EPO vs this one made of EPS? If so why the change? What is the difference in durability and flight characteristics? Will the Bnf ver 2 work with ver 1 rtf remote (will the telemetry feedback work too?)
@HorizonHobbyProducts
@HorizonHobbyProducts 4 года назад
No changes were made to the airframe design or material, as noted in more detail in this Live Discussion video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sQLYi8KA4hg.html. The airframe has been/is still EPS, and the durability and flight characteristics are the same as before. The E-flite MLP6DSM transmitter included with the original RTF version Sport Cub S will work with the RTF and BNF Basic version Sport Cub S 2, however, the telemetry will not work because that transmitter is not telemetry capable/compatible. You must have the new Spektrum MLP6DSM transmtter or a Spektrum DX Gen 2 or Gen 3 of iX series transmitter to use the telemetry.
