I was the First Hobie Cat in Malibu. At Trancas Beach. Hours of fun sailing it and.flying a hull. This changed Beach Sailing like no other Catamaran. What fond memories...⛵️
It is beautiful I agree, but it is not me, I am a guy behind the camera, that's where my skills are 😉. This is Mark who is sailing this boat and he, like you said, a "badasss", he excels and everything he does, and he does a lots of things, sailing, kiteboarding, surfing, paragliding .... and whole lot more 😅
Hello pete. Nice vidéo, thanks for sharing. We are a team of hobie 14 sailors here in South of France and would be glad to discuss tips and setting with the person riding the hobie on your video. Would he be ok to share his email adress? Thanks
Ok, adding a trap increases righting moment, useful in the breeze, but does nothing for the lack of buoyancy in the leeward hull or all that rocker. Get a new boat.
ther H14 was designed to surf, thus the rocker. As bad as they(NACRA sailors for example) say the boat is, ironicly the 14 can be raced in 30 knt. winds with many competitors not capsizing. Most boats today will not race in winds that are much over 20knts. Many past H14 and 16 worlds were held in very strong winds. Now it is a youth race.boat. They got rid of the minimum weight rule an allowed the trapeze, and mast rotator.
What do you mean by keeling the mast or boom? Did you intend to sail "heel"? I sail different stuff but I'm eager to know what keeling means here. Thanks!
I am not the biggest expert on this topic, I am mostly a photographer. If you have facebook, I will suggest you groups and people, who you can help with this. Good start will be facebook.com/groups/Hobiedivisioneleven, specially if you on East Cost.
You can get an aftermarket sail from wirlwind and you can run a jib but you might as well get a 16 if your going to do all that. I'm super happy with the plain old 14, quick to set up and sail and easy to right solo. I love 16's but always worry about capsize solo.
@@cumminsscout when I sailed a hobie 16 alone I carried a big heavy duty trash bag. I only used it once after got the sail in the water. The idea is to fill the bag with water and hold on to it as a counter weight. I was very happy when it worked.
