More improvements and fixes for the Hobie Tandem Island to make it more bulletproof. This one deals with water leeks at the frt. hatch, a notorious problem for some. Most likely those that take the Hobie offshore. I've found Three very easy to do improvements that make my Hobie Frt Hatch Water Tight and they'll probably work for you too.
Three steps
1) tighten bunjis
2) remove inner/second seal
3) install foam under cover for 2nd water tight backup seal

You can reduce how much comes in, but you can never eleiminate all of it because you have to leave a way for it to drain back out.

Good deal. My 2013 AI leaks pretty good when diving through chop, or heavy waves. Looks like I will pull the inner rubber seal off, and add some foam pad under the lid itself to help with the seal for sure. I noticed that when I pick up the bow with the front toggle, that the hull will flex just a bit right at the center of the hatch, this may also contribute to water intrusion going into the face of a wave.

So, true! I appreciate all you share with us Owners out here! I have several Trailers, and Two Hobie's, and those Hobie Cradles are a Bit Pricey. I am considering taking a 55 Gallon Drum that is Plastic,Splitting it from Top to Bottom, and using a Hot Air Gun, to make the Individual Hull Supports like theirs! If I go that way, and it works out, I may put up my First Video up as well, on how to do that with a $5.00 Barrel!

Any secrets on dealing or sealing the pedal drive slot around drive well when peddling? Are you suppose to take on water between the crevices around the drive when pedals are in?

If you totally seal it out, the water can not drain back out.

Good catch! I'm the same way... To me pretty much everything is halve way done and I have to finish it in order that it works how it's supposed to... I wonder if the only things that are tested and fixed before use are space rockets! 😕

Hi Mike here's another modification for you order a nose cone to put on the top the bow to help stop the bow from nose diving ,,,,finn kayaks have them ive put one on my hobie adventure island and works Great,,,,adding a jib also adds lift on the bow and extra power yes it's worth the money 💰 🤑 💸 maybe you should pay me for the information I'm giving you,,,,,LOL LOL BAHAHAHAHA,JUST KIDDING 😊😊😊😊

Working on a seat raising solution. The problem is the seat back doesn't work well when you raise the seat bottom, . So the seat back needs to be raised too.
