Unfortunately, I ended up with a faulty rudder system straight from Hobie, and let’s just say - it didn’t go as planned! When I turned the rudder one way, the boat went the opposite direction. 😱
🔧 I took the kayak back to my local Hobie dealer, and they replaced the defective rudder system. Now it works perfectly! This video serves as a word of caution for anyone purchasing a new Hobie Lynx kayak - always check the rudder system before heading out on the water.
🔍 I’ve included close-up footage of the Hobie Lynx rudder system, which is designed to be user-friendly. It’s a simple plug-and-play system that you can attach or remove in just seconds. But, as I experienced firsthand, it's important to double-check your gear before heading out!
⚠️ In the next part of the video, I demonstrate what went wrong with my old faulty rudder system, showing how the controls worked in reverse. While this is likely a rare occurrence, it’s still good to be aware and cautious. Mistakes happen, and it's always better to be prepared.
🚤 The Hobie Lynx rudder deployment system is quite innovative. It attaches behind the seat with a simple hook and can be deployed or retracted by pulling on a cord. It's amazing how simple Hobie has made this system! Once the rudder is snapped into place, you’re ready to go.
