I teach ice skating skills to hockey skaters using similar exercises. Your exercises are brilliant. I had similar but this is the full dimension as you apply them to game scenarios. Good coach work Sean
Hello from Russia ! Skinner is a freestyler from ice hockey not a hockey player. But his technique is awesome. Definitely a half of his tricks are useless in the real game. I have been playing ice hockey for 15 years and I know a little bit about that. Nevertheless he is a great master of his own teaching. So thank you for our time to reading my post. Hockey is great game, from Russia with LOVE, ))) Sorry for possible mistakes because I am russian guy and english is not my own language, just trying to learn now ,suppose it will be usefull to know some foreign languages besides my own russian language. And I like it very much, I mean learning something new )))
))) I tell you the same. No doubt, some of them are useful. I talk not about this Skinner's video only , i discuss his whole training including skating and puck working. But as for me it's much more better to train classic hockey exercises. It's will be enough. What for to do needless work? This is just superfluous. Every pro coach will tell you that it's much more easier to train correct from the beginning of your hockey life than to break incorrect player's technique . For example, there are many freestylers in soccer , basketball an so on . They can make miracles with the ball , but they cannot play soccer or basketball like pros ))). Pros can play the game, but cannot make so much ball tricks. it's just unnecessary for them )))
In one of many training video Sean said looks like, that this exercise not helps you in game( he makes side jumps with puck through some barriers) , but after complete those exercise you will no have problems to make simple two steps right two steps left in game В одном видео Шен сказал, что это упражнение не пригодится в игре ( делал боковые прыжки через барьеры), но после них у вас не будет никакой сложности сделать простые два шага вправо два шага влево. SKINNER,s technic is very usefull especially for education (study Soviet AGIM sport education methodology = answers are there) while BESA is flying on the ice!
