Hockey Skills to learn
Episode 2: The Cutoff
At its core a Cutoff is a way to buy your teammate more time to retrieve or make a play with the puck. A cutoff is the act off slowing up a forecheck either buy skating into the forecheckers path, forcing them to alter their route, or using "Subtle Interference". Never enough for a penalty, but enough to slow the opposing player down. If you learn to use cutoffs at applicable times your teammates will sing your graces as it allows more time for puck retrievals and to make a good play, leading to more or easier breakouts. Its a sublte skill that any and all players can learn.
