My late wife and family lived on Ocean Ave in 1993, so she saw them film HOCUS POCUS. The exteriors were filmed in Salem MA, all the interior shots were filmed in Los Angeles.
The dance scene that was in the town hall was filmed in LA at the MacAurthur. Alisons house interior was filmed in Pasadena in the same house that the Scream 2 Sorority house exterior was filmed at. All of the trick or treating scenes were filmed in Whittier as well as the high school interiors were at a middle school in Whittier. Don't forget about them dancing in front of the Friends fountain and the Brownstones at the Warner Ranch, in Burbank when they thought they killed the sisters, which were unfortunately demolished just last week.
Adam, I'm behind on your awesome videos because, my 17 yr old baby dog went to the rainbow bridge. Really enjoyed your awesome video and Hocus Pocus is one of my favorite movies! Thank you for taking me along with y'all! Looking forward to catching up on your awesome vlogs.
Interesting coincidence, the headstone next to where the “Judith Myers” headstone in Halloween 1978 was supposed to be also has the name Sinclair. Love your videos Adam!
Adam in shorts in a rainy New England fall. I was just listening to it while cleaning then tonite I saw the shorts. No wonder you’re freezing! Enjoy your road trip. Looks like a good start!
Kowloon! OMG! That takes me back - I was born in Salem MA and lived in the area throughout my childhood. Great video, and a trip down memory lane for me. Thanks!
Awesome! I’m from Massachusetts but live in Florida. I’ve never been to the filming locations. Been to Salem many times. We went to Salem ON Halloween a few years ago and it was a madhouse. Enjoy your time up there! Hope you spend some time with Derek Millen!
Love Hocus Pocus! Its also good to see Ben Laurence again. I'm glad he has started uploading again. I hope someday I will be able to go see that place in person, just hopefully will be better weather.
It's always so crazy when you tell how long it's been since movies were made!! But, Hocus Pocus, 30 years???!!! Makes you realize how old you are, for sure!!!
I recently watched Hocus Pocus for Halloween. I think the reason why the Sanderson Sisters came back after being burned in the school was the black flame candle. I’m assuming it gave them immunity until the powers wore off at sunrise.
How fun was this! I live in New England I haven’t made it to Salem yet, it’s on my list though. It was so cold yesterday. Where I’m at in Maine, we got snow! Hope you enjoy New England. It’s a better experience in the summer and early fall!
Ohh your in my neck of the woods! Lol. I’m about 45 mins from Salem in southern NH. Seeing the filming locations is fun. I’ve been to some. Salem is fun for the history and spooky things. 👻🎃👍🏻🕸️..Enjoy your time here & stay warm!! Lol
If I were to go, I'd go between November and early September. But then I live in the Northeast so I see plenty of fall leaves and would be happy to miss out on the giant crowds.
If one goes during a busy time it would be less interesting. It's the sort of place you want to go to when it's quiet as crowds diminish the atmosphere of the place.
I just watched Hocus Pocus yesterday how cool 🎃Happy Halloween Everyone That is interesting they used the real headstones, you guys did a really good job on this. Thanks for all you do Woo
Happy Halloween, Adam! Great vlog. Great seasonal weather for this type of video. Not sure it would have had the same effect if it was a warm day. This was perfect and I enjoyed it. Had to then watch the movie to see what you had filmed against the movie. So funny watching the two of you zipping through the town. Thanks for all your destination filming. Most of us won't ever see most of the towns you visit, so I enjoy being able to visit vicariously through you. Thanks. Looks like a good time was had by all!! 👻🎃🦇
When you went to Kowloon’s you was only a couple of mile from Fredo Corleone’s final resting place. Of course I’m referring to John Cazale who was born in the next town over in Revere. Reach out to us if you’re in town in the future. We’ll be happy to show you.
Super fun and yes the rain and cold might have kept people home!! 54 degrees for me is not too bad but then again I live in N.J! Always love bonus footage especially when you share food!! Thanks!!
Maybe the 'spirits' of the Sanderson sisters tried to ruin you're vlog with the weather , hate it for them , the rain only made the whole video better ! Such a beautiful place and really enjoyed this , hope you are having a great Halloween!👻
Thanks Adam! Bucket list location for me, hopefully soon . I can't say enough how awesome it is when you show stills from the movies when you are visiting the locations! Very cool ❤
Too bad you weren’t here from last Wednesday to Saturday, it was Beautiful here! That’s New England for you! I was in Plymouth on Saturday and I thought I would die of the heat, it was 75 degrees! 😂
@TheDailyWoo Adam, did you “see” the “people” looking at you from behind the headstones on the top of the hill? “They” were standing behind their headstones. Pretty cool! “They” were just watching everyone. Cool!
Welcome back to Massachusetts! Hopefully you get to enjoy some nice weather in MA in the fall sometime! (Though today is much better than yesterday was) New England is beautiful in the fall!
I was wondering why the cat from Hocus Pocus can only talk to Max, Allison, and the sister. Maybe because Max lit the black flame candle? The cat should have spoke up to the parents at the Town Hall party, when the sister was freaking out, and reporting to the mom about the witches, while holding the cat lol. Great video, and fun nostalgic movie.
I think Binx got the will to speak when the candle was lit , but he was so intent on protecting Danni from the witches because she reminded him of Emily , he probably knew if anyone else knew he would of been captured and paraded around like a fair exhibit, he knew who to trust 😺 just a theory
ADW, 30 miles from me in Salem Ma. totally awesome to see local stuff by Adam! I used to work the Ambulance in Salem, especially around Halloween for the crowds. Awesome times! Before you leave Salem, Go to the Fire Station at 48 Lafayette St (Not far from your hotel either) The fire dept sells special halloween shirts since you love tShirts... Engine House Pizza shop on corner also, is good for a slice or two! Can't wait to see your actual Halloween day blog from there! Enjoy!
We were just there the same day it would have been so cool to see you. The weather sucked we were so bummed but we still got out to see the cemetary and my kids chased the ducks and turkeys outside the Pioneer village. Cool note for anyone visiting, they do a ghost scavenger hunt in the town hall and you can actually go inside and walk up the stairs they used in the movie. 🎃
What’s wild is when Hocus Pocus was released it just kinda came and went. It didn’t do well at the box office or with critics. I remember when I was a young teenager my mom took me and my friend to see it and I didn’t think much of it at the time. My mom even said “ Well I’m sorry, that wasn’t very good” haha. So it’s amazing that all these years later it’s become such a cultural phenomenon. Pretty cool they actually filmed in Salem. I visited there on a road trip many years ago and it was a pretty awesome little town! Great vibe
So funny i had this same exact trip last month, flew into boston, went to Salem, checked out some of the filming locations and then went to Kowloon!! 😂😂
You don’t check the weather app before you fly somewhere during the colder months do you? You’re walking around with shorts on when it is in the 40s. That weather is perfect for Halloween. It’s cold. ~~ So jealous of you right now. Salem on Halloween has been on my bucket list since I was a teenager. Not because of the movie but because of the other stuff Salem is known for.
That long square stone post kinda looks like an old hitching post for horses . But i may be wrong. I want to visit that area some day. Stay safe and warm
You’re in my neck of the woods! I’m in a neighboring town from the Kowloon! Hope you enjoy your time here in MA. Always a fun adventure to watch, but extra fun to see you in some familiar spots. Happy Halloween! 🎃👻
Nice video today Adam, i just watched Hocus Pocus in the theaters last week. The weather makes it very authentic. Its so cold and windy there but Adam you are wearing shorts.Take care from Universal Jamie.
I got about halfway through the new hocus pocus movie. I just could not finish it. And if I’m completely honest about that first movie. It’s on the very bottom of my list for Halloween movies.
Just finished watching this video, I am kind of surprised with the horror fan Adam is that he never mentioned Rob Zombie's Lord of Salem was not mentioned. It was filmed there. There was a pizza place next door to the fire department that proudly let you know it was used.
Great video Adam 👍🏾👍🏾This Autumn in Toronto has been weird..hot then cold. I love when @ActionKid comes to Boston to show the fall foliage and walk around Sleepy Hollow,NY…always packed but the energy seems good.🎃👻
