I think a few years ago on Sirius XM Radio(either Chris Russo or Howard Stern)I heard in passing Reggie talk about his horrible experience in the minors with racism. This is the first time (Correct Me Guys if am Wrong) Reggie has talked that horrible part of his life live in front of Millions of TV Viewers across America and through RU-vid Internationally as well. So great job by the Producers to let the Commentators/Panelists keep quiet.

Kids won’t learn it in school that’s for sure. They don’t want the white kids to feel bad 😞. Well what about the kids of color? Is it okay for them to feel bad while they have to live in a country that tries to whitewash history by saying slavery wasn’t bad because slaves learned valuable skills as was said by that jacka$$ governor in Florida? And Condaleeza Rice said on The View that she didn’t want white children to feel bad about this country’s stain of slavery and bondage of black people. Hey Condaleeza, if they feel bad that’s their problem! The history of this country needs to be taught THE GOOD AND THE BAD. This is so they will know and not repeat past mistakes. These apologists for this country’s horrific history makes me sick. Sorry I’m venting, but it is true. That place in Birmingham doesn’t deserve to have a great man like Willie Mays to pay tribute to after the way they treated him and his teammates back in the day. It’s disgraceful!

They are the true patriots, not this group of ungrateful insecure white MAGA folks who spend more time complaining and whining than working toward solutions. Critical race theory is an old legal theory that Republicans believe is being taught in grade school. It isn’t. Reggie’s talk proves it existed then and exists today. In essence, America has a hard time being honest with itself about its past. The country needs something like a 12 step program to get real, admit the past and move forward toward healing. As a white man, it really is a shame Reggie had to endure this. It is a good illustration of how far we have come in this country since then as something like this experience he detailed happening today would be incredibly shocking. We still have room to improve in this area for sure as I believe people should be judged only on their character. People need each other, regardless or race or ethnicity, we are stronger together.

I understand the point perfectly. My parents went through this in the early '60s and into the 80's because my father was a Blackman and my mother was Puerto Rican. They faced an enormous amount of racism and from a distance, it appeared a Blackman married a white woman. We all have shared the experience of hatred and still encounter it today. I don't need them to accept me I frankly don't care. I just leave it with my Father and He says "And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!

It is so easy for a person of color today, to assume what they would have done had they reacted in the face of such monstrous racsim back in that era. My mom who grew up in those times down in the south always told us boys "you have no kdea what it was like unless you went thru it and experienced it for yourself". I think it is safe to say that we know how Reggie Jackson would have reacted back then!

There is racism everywhere, but it seems like it is more concentrated in the South. Of course that is because of the Civil War and most of those states seceding from the union back in the 19th century. So many great players went through that negative, aggressive behavior from narrow minded, ignorant racists and still had to play for them. It is awful and honestly, it is still like that to this day. It may be somewhat muted now but it still exists. That is one of the reasons I left the South because it is so many racists down there and it will never change. They are the most terrible bunch of people to deal with because their aversion and hatred for you is based on something that is a twisted and irrational idea in their own mind that is only based on your skin color. It has nothing to do with what kind of person you are. That is basically what racism is. It is a negative and irrational feeling towards a person based on skin color that allows one to manufacture and believe illogical ideas about others that are not true. I wish that such a special tribute to Willie Mays did not have to take place in the cradle of bigotry. It seems that Mr. Reggie Jackson still has PTSD about his experience. To be treated in such a way has a long lasting affect to the psyche for sure.
