Just after midnight every 31 December, bagpipers, drummers and whistle players parade through the town of Kilsyth, Scotland, to welcome Hogmanay - the start of Scotland’s New Year celebrations.
Locals told me the parade is to “pipe out” the old year, and “pipe in” the new one. And that Kilsyth is the last place in Scotland where such a parade is held as Hogmanay begins.
