Think I'll just stick with standard edition without the pre-order bonus. I think the cosmetics look quite gaudy and the simple aesthetic of the traditional hogwarts robes is more immersive and believable.
Not sure if it matters anyways, since it's a single-player and you can't show it to anyone else or get any progress ahead of others with that 72-hour window. :/
@@siviary13 yeah and you only get access to a dark arts arena or something I think the deluxe edition should have had way more add ons tbh imo for it to be worth it
@@siviary13 I heard a rumor there will be a multi-player feature for online play. Well, for certain consoles that is anyway. Reference: a Gamestop employee And I mean... considering how Hogwarts Legacy is basically an expansive open-world game, it would be HUGE miss opportunity for it to not have multi-player options. But that aside, new wardrobe to fresh up your character's boring look from the typical standard in-game attires is always a plus in my book. More new clothes just means more ways to customize my ideal character's look.
One of the reasons why I love Elden Ring. It was so refreshing to see a steam page that wasn't riddled with bs editions. The deluxe edition only had the OST and an art book as extras. Nothing related to the actual game.
I hate games having different versions for exclusive items and accessories. As you most likely pay double the price for the few things. Especially for something with such a dedicated fan base it will make many feel left out
@@LaloSillymanca Or people could play it smart and save their money. Maybe $10 per paycheck and put it in a separate account so they won't touch it. If they do that, they'd have more than enough to pay for the deluxe version of the game. It's not like saving small amounts of money is hard.
So basically one of the editions gives us a thestral as a flying mount, which means our character will have witnessed someone die if we go by lore. Doubt the devs thought about that and most likely just considered "people like thestrals, add it as part of the edition"
I mean, it's the late 19th century. People dropped like flies back then from things like cholera, tuberculosis, smallpox, measles, diphtheria, typhoid, pneumonia, whooping cough, workhouse injuries, and more. Post-mortem photography was also a really popular trend in England at this point.
when the character first gameplay arrived i thought the testrals could be released when we saw somewhere...but that was thrown in the trash unfortunately
@@Spidz_ I'd say if the PC is entering Hogwarts for the first time in 5th year, I'd hazard a guess that they're likely a muggle-born who slipped through the cracks for whatever reason. And since the game is supposed to take place in 1890, I'd say they've already seen some pretty nasty stuff if you know what Victorian England could be like.
I'm always bothered by how preordered, or deluxe versions of games give you digital perks; it feels like they removed features of the game and are trying to resell it to you. I'd rather have preorder or deluxe perks be physical objects like a keychain or an artbook.
Not too worried about the exclusive quest. Tomb raider did something similar and it was just a 3 minute side tomb. It also became available for sale after a year or so. I expect this one to be the same, just a throw away quest of no significance to the story whatsoever.
I do worry because I hate this practice. Make an exclusive small quest to then make it available to everyone if you pay more is not a good practice imo.
Don’t care about the mount.. 100% guarantee they’ll have DLC packages down the road with even better looking ones or even other different kind of animals that you may be able to unlock in game that’ll probably be again even better. Same thing goes with the cosmetic skin for your character I’m sure they’ll have really cool ones later in the game, the mission I’m not worried about I’m sure they’ll probably add that as another DLC down the road considering they said the only thing that you’re not gonna be able to get is the mount that tells me the mission will probably be available later.
@@jamesabbott3149 Yeah for the digital editions. I don't know where you live but here (Finland) the retailers sell the physical regular edition for 30 bucks less than the digital/physical deluxe edition. 55€ vs. 85€
@@WunnaHunna300 In the game, you just have to free the creature, and then you can ride on it and fly with it, and your level must be 17, whether you have the upgraded or normal version
ATTENTION: There will also be an exclusive quest for anyone who buys any version of the game on the Playstation. You do not need to pre-order to get this quest, but it is exclusive to the PlayStation editions. Pre-ordering on PlayStation will also get you the Felix Felicis Potion Recipe. I will add more details about the potion and which version it applies to when I find out! :) EDIT The Germany amazon website has the quest named 'Haunted Store in Hogsmede'
Almost can guarantee the book and wand will be plastic resin. The same as most collectors wands and items. Shame the wand doesn't float just a little higher or have a light up option
Totally fine with not getting the stuff from the collector's edition. The stuff in Deluxe is awesome and I'm very happy for that! The mounts are cool and I wanna stick to the classic Hogwarts robes. I always was really fond of that and was sad that the later Harry Potter movies just got into normal everyday clothing. :(
I'll be honest, I care for nothing but the steel case, which would make for a nice shelf item. I hope at some point it'll be available in some form, on ebay at the very least.
@@xpepelee To get it you gotta spend like 320-350 (i dont know american rate, its £280 where i am) so i expect it will be about 50 or so maybe even more
Buy large magnetic strips. Line your wall with it like wallpaper. You can use your steel cases as an accent wall in a room that way. Did it 5 years ago myself, still have room left. Keeps them up and out of the way, odds of them falling and getting scratched/dented is low, and it's a fun conversation piece.
We'll see if that Onyx Hippogriff becomes available as DLC or in-game at a later date for posterity. Definitely something they should do, but also certainly something any PC player could obtain for free at any point through some basic tinkering. Just look it up after a few weeks or months and people will have done it before you did and explained how. The only case in which this might not be a feasible option would be if the game happens to rely solely on remote servers on WB's side to run and load your progress, which you would consequently not be able to access locally. But hopefully that doesn't happen, unless this game is intended for any kind of heavy multiplayer implementation or the developers are IO Interactive, which they aren't.
@@LaCazaLP : Literally what I said. Better than mods, just save editing. That being said, modding, save editing and server replacements are all STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (theoretically) by the ToS you’re forced to agree when you first open and play the game. It appears to be an online architecture with official WB servers. Hopefully it’s not a full always-online thing with no local save management, like IOI’s HITMAN implementation. I am playing right now and found the ToS completely lunatic, but I haven’t tested playing offline just yet.
Standard Edition on PS5 has the Onyx Hippogriff mount *AND* Felix Felicis potion recipe for the Preorder. Looking at it in my PS5 store right now. Since it wasn't listed in the video. The Playstation also gets that exclusive Quest.
I wish we had more information on the Digital Deluxe extras. I don't usually have a lot of time to play games, so getting it three days earlier doesn't mean much. I could be persuaded to part with the extra money if the digital doodads were fun.
Deluxe Digital all the way baby! But are there any benefits to using mounts over broomsticks? I love Hippogriffs but don't see a point if I can just fly everywhere on my broomstick!
@@itsuplike9947 oh like our "mount" is a broomstick? Well that does make more sense. Still, il probably just broomstick everywhere especially if the animation looks good. Sorry Hippogriff, you'll stay in my pocket dimension protecting my house.
Standard version for me. I usually go for "Gold Editions" that come with season pass for DLC if they interest me, but cosmetics only is not for me I'll have to stop my urge to waste money to get 72h early access though.
Devil's Advocate: The Deluxe Edition is only 10 dollars US more than the Standard Edition. 10 Dollars for: A Mount, an Arena, a Cosmetic Set, a Hat, AND Early Access. Compared to most Standard vs Deluxe Editions, this one is almost MORE reasonable to buy Deluxe over Standard. (I'm having an internal debate with myself on which one to preorder myself and this is the argument I keep coming back to as to why I should just get the Deluxe Edition.)
Remember back in the day when collectors editions kind of made you want to buy them? I have a preorder for the deluxe but that collectors edition should be ashamed of itself.
So as It stands. Once the game is out for a little bit they WILL release deluxe, GOTY or even bundle which will have all the missed content. The time which they do this will vary based on games popularity and sales at a launch and later dates. This is common practice now.
I don't have a console nor the money to buy console and the game.Guess I'll just watch the gameplay on youtube..Hope someday I can afford to play the game.
I already pre-ordered for the deluxe edition for the physical copy of the game. I never even knew there was a deluxe edition for the digital copy of the game until I saw this video. But if anything, this video just goes to show how simpler buying games were back then. Back when getting money from gamers and consumers were easy compared to how it is now during this economic crisis with people prioritizing other essential needs compared to video games...
That’s what I’m probably going to do. I’ve already preordered the physical version of it but now I think I’m going to cancel it and preorder the digital version instead.
People are complaining [shocker] about "Exclusives" depending on what version you buy. Meanwhile Nintendo / Game Freak have been doing it since 1996 with Pokémon and that is the largest gaming franchise in the world. Sure you can trade whatever but some people don't have that option.
Collectors edition was already sold out with in 5 minutes when the game went live, luckily I only wanted the Deluxe edition and Yes you can now order it at your local Gamestop in store.
My issues is I’m spending £300 on the physical collectors edition and I’m not impressed with what I’m going to get, especially when other collector editions you can a lot more for less.
I mean, the book and wand is cool and all. But not worth it imo. The collectors edition is in my opinion a waste of €300. I’ll go with the deluxe edition (just because i am an idiot and clicked the wrong one to pre-order. Wanted the standard, but meh not going through the whole mudpool for a refund).
@@bossboard22 Depends on the game and time. If you are 100% certain you want to buy at release (like many do) and will not wait 1 year for sale and 10 patches, then i dont see anything bad with pre-ordering few days before the release. Most of the reviews will be out by then, so that you can check out your needed info, dates are set and game is not changing outside some day 1 patch or smth and you are getting pre-order content if there is one. I agree pre-ordering 1y or 6 months before release is bad, since it demotivates devs to finish it/smooth it out. Waiting for 1 day before the release to pre-order seams to me the best choice.
I’ve ordered the physical deluxe edition. I want the steelbook, but I’m not interested in the book and wand and the price was ridiculous. Sadly I won’t be able to play the early access as I’ll be traveling abroad at the time of release. Had this been released simultaneously on Switch I’d gotten that version, even if people have voiced concerns about performance, but as is I’ll have to wait until to weeks after the release before I can play it
@@aquate9637 To each their own, but I have to pre-order or I will never get it. If i pre order, even if I can't play it day one or the 72 hrs early access, I need to know that this is is a thing I want enough to order in advance. Then I can put aside the money I need and be ready to pay for it when it releases. If I don't want it enough to pre order, then I'm never gonna gonna save up to buy it, even if it goes on sale I'll be hesitant, because I didn't save up to buy this, and it's already been out and everyone is already done with it etc. etc. Then maybe several years down the line when this is sold out and selling for twice the price I'll think, Maybe I should get that, and end up spending loads on it instead. The number of times this has happened, with video-games, movies, books, collectables, basically anything, are to many for me to remember. I've decided I want this, so I'll pre oder it and have it. If it's bad, then too bad, at least I made a choice and I knew what I was getting into. For the last 6-7 years I don't think I've bought anything that was already released, except my university literature, some dollar Blu-Rays and my PS5, which was of course delayed. Not everything I've ever pre-ordered has been a hit, and some things I still haven't watched, played, read etc. in several years of owning, but I haven't regretted any purchase, and I've also been able to plan my economy ahead several months. No more spur of the moment impulse purchases more expensive than 10 bucks, really cleaned up my economy. Went from spending all of my money every month on stupid stuff to being able to put more than half of my salary into different savings accounts and keeping it there, just by being able to plan ahead for the things I really want and ignoring everything I didn't find interesting enough to pre order. For me personally it's much more healthy mentally and economically to do things this way, but that's just my personal experience, everyone is different.
I don't think that 72 hours early access is a perk whatsoever. Most likely there will be some patches released in the first days after the premiere and without them the players will encounter various problems with the gameplay, as it has lately been a rule.
I pre-ordered the digital Deluxe edition for my ps5. I'm really upset about the Collector's edition not being currently available. I knew about the presence of this game since earlier 2022, but I wasn't aware of the pre-order exclusivity. Unfortunately, I didn't think to buy the game soon enough. R.I.P my chances of obtaining any of those items or the robe.
I have a strong northern english accent, I don’t think american viewers would be able to understand me if i didnt talk slow😅 feel free to try the 1.5 speed in settings though😂
I've pre ordered the deluxe edition on my ps5 and it says that I will get Exclusive haunted hogmeade mission. But this mission is on ps5 for a bit then it's going to added to xbox consoles later.
I personally LOVE the mounts and outfits. Though - NOT that it matters WHATSOEVER for everyone - but I’m a bit of a collector and mega fan as much as I can afford to be.
they're so smart they dont even realize that a large group of people dont care about what edition of a game they buy, they simply wait until the reviews come after the game is released so that they know if the game is even worth buying at all.....cyberpunk 77 opened a lot of eyes out there.....
Prepare to laugh at me: I saw trailers of game play and thought it had been released. Got excited, paid for it, went to download it - download time = 158 days 17 hours 🤔🤔🤔 ohhhh shoot, Did I just preorder this thing?!?!?!
One to three years later, the true best edition will likely be released: the all-inclusive edition with all the pre-order bonuses, special edition exclusive content, platform-exclusive content, and DLC, all at a reasonable price. But first they'll milk the players willing to spend hundreds of dollars on minor extra content. The thestral is cool. It would be fun if when you first start the game they're invisible, but later you discover them and can fly one. However, it's likely only cosmetically different from the hippogriff. I can't imagine it flying much differently. Maybe it can run faster on the ground. The Dark Arts Arena seems more fun. However, probably "noncanonical" as it's being promoted as a place to experiment with the most extreme curses without consequences. In canon, teenage wizards wouldn't be going around Avada Kedavraing people, even dark wizards and witches, without severe consequences. The studio struck a decent balance where players will miss the exclusive quests and creatures, but won't feel like the whole game had been cheapened in the base edition. There's incentive to upgrade, but the upgrades are very minor.
Informative and much appreciated video. But what in the actual fubar business model are they running here? I thought we were past this convoluted tier system for game launches. Straight up life and death situations here on how you wanna look when you strut around Hogwarts.
Wow the collectors edition is significantly more mundane than it originally appeared. You have to plug in the book in order to magnetically levitate the wand? It would have been cooler if the book was just a really stylish manual, and/or a unique/ custom wand.
0:42 Physical Version of Deluxe Edition. - He didn't separate this part out it in the video progress bar. Also the Thestral mount and all other exclusives including the PlayStation exclusive mission will be available to all after the game has been out for about a year.
To be honest the only thing I would really want would be the Dark Arts outfit. But even that's not really worth a pre-order or higher edition of the game. I'll just wait for the reviews to make sure the game is everything it's supposed to be.
I'd be happy just to receive a fully fleshed out working game but as evidenced by so many games in recent years that have been released before completion I doubt that will be the case, therefore I shan't be pre-ordering this or any other game for the foreseeable future.
The garrison hat was shown during the Collector's edition unboxing video even though you do not get that hat with the collector edition, only with the digital deluxe. Basically it's the same hat as the default one in the dark arts pack but without the skull mask piece that covers the face of the default hat included in the dark arts pack....also your chart at the end of the video contains a mistake...the Garrison Hat is NOT included int the Collector's Edition, you can ONLY get it by buying digital deluxe.
Here in Australia, preordering standard edition doesn't give the extra mount and I would need to get deluxe instead. I don't really care though, because $15 for an extra mount just doesn't seem worth the money 😕
The PC version not having a disk feels kinda weird. I get a lot of PC games are DRM these days. But how much effort is it to just throw in a dummy disk for those that want to have the artwork of the disc?
I wanna save y’all some money.. just get the normal edition. Preorder so you can get the black hippogriff mount (xbox one x,s, and ps5). Later on, you’ll likely be able to purchase the dark arts pack stuff separately for cheaper or close to Free ($5-10).. last gen and nitendo ppl. Do NOT preorder until the day before release just to make sure they don’t cancel the game or delay it even further.
