The problem with these stupid arenas is that once you kill a certain number of a specific enemy, he doesn't give you any more xp. Whether we want to do the main story or not, we still have to kill goblins, spiders, inferi, wizards, etc., and ultimately, if we had done the arenas earlier, it would have been a waste of time for us, and we wouldn't have had any more xp because there would have been no more xp during the main story. @@astraldreamer84 Actually it's more beneficial to do the arenas earlier on when you have available challenges for most enemy types. Essentially it's better not to treat it as a level but more of an overall completion score. At Level 40 you've explored all the game has to offer in abundance and only have optional activities, that you've already experienced before, left. Although it sucks that you have nothing much to do after you reach 40, it's a clever way of ensuring people won't glitch their way to max level.

I'm stuck on the very last mission for the house cup mission where you have to be level 34 and I can't play it because I'm 32. In this method showing it stops giving me experience because I've defeated all the types of enemies and dueling feats. I'm kinda peeved this is annoying I really would like to finish this so I can play something else. I really don't understand why they designed it this way

Yes, in my experience, I was only able to reach level 40 once I completed my main story, all side quests and ALL challenges. It seems the game is designed like this, as I find it much of a coincidence that I hit level 40 as I was completing my last challenge and there were no more quests or challenges to do. Nothing else was giving me XP at that point, nothing from arenas, killing enemies, etc, only completing challenges grant XP. At least for me.

@@praetormaximus it's a really poor design imo. Other than trophies it's almost pointless to get to level 40 when there's nothing left to do with a full set of level 40 upgraded gear. Hopefully this is something the devs learn from in future, xp for exploring and engaging with side content is great but not being able to farm xp naturally is a terrible oversight.

@@mrbobajango7482 Yeah I am with you, there is no point in hitting level 40, while I love the immersion and story/atmosphere of the game, it lacks of some sort of end game. Like difficult dungeons or repeatable missions on harder difficulty, but then again, the loot is pointless as well, doesnt matter what gear you have they are all the same (though the attack/defense values do differ slightly) but as it is now, I can one shot Trolls on hard so there is really nothing to challenge your builds, hopefully it will get better but I am pretty much done for now.

@@mrbobajango7482 its an achievement worth 70 points reaching level 40 (at least on xbox) and its titled “a forte for achievement “ so the title literally describes the person goes for achievements to get level 40 lol. I honestly beat the game at level 32, and had no equipment upgraded to level 3. I was playing on normal not hardmode though, story and easy mode are way too easy. In my opinion reaching level 40 before the main story would make the person so extremely overpowered even on hardmode i dont think the person would be having fun.

@@praetormaximus yeah same after hitting 40 and getting challenges complete its “over”. I do wish it had more end game/difficult things to do once you are level 40, but thats not the case. Even the battle arenas are extremely easy. I do understand the target audience for this game is supposed to be much younger , so the difficulty is skewed for them. I bought it because ive been waiting like 19 years for a game like this, i enjoyed it, and i dont regret my purchase.

Once you complete the challenge to save beasts you get 0 xp from then on

@@stephensearles673 Yeah iv reached level 40 the other day. The only way to reach it is to complete every single challenge to 100%. There are no ways to farm or cheese it.

I’m level 29 and have like 91% field guide, with like 2/3s of all collectibles/ challenges completed I’m on the last challenge for most combat obj and I’m at half to 3/4ths done with the Merlin trials and what not. Except for the astronomy ones because I just unlocked being able to do that right before I got off last night. I also have alohomora level 3 from all the demiguise things it’s been a grind

Yea I finished the main story at level 27. Grind a bit doing arenas, side quests, etc until level 32…. And just gave up because it’s so tedious. The final level is just a 3 min cutscene. Not worth my time.

You don't get xp from killing enemies, or from collecting pages, quests etc. Only completing challenges gives xp. Once a certain challenge is complete it will stop giving xp, so you need to do a challenge you haven't done. So many people don't understand how this works.
