When I first played, I simply left the castle to look for the balloons for Professor Kagawa because I thought the Quidditch Captain set you got from it looked cool. That was until I stumbled across my first bandit camp where I got satisfaction of playing around and coming up with spell combos then looked over at the next map icon and said "Hey, what's that over there?". I was completely lost in the valley almost as if I was living in the wilderness clearing out bandit camps, goblin outposts, messed around with the Merlin trails, landing pads, etc. So returning to the castle for Assignments felt weird as if I was back with society I guess lol.

Yeah I’m definitely the type of gamer that doesn’t take the linear path until I’ve explored everything around it first lol. Perfect example is Dead Space. I would click R3 to see where I was supposed to go…and explore the complete opposite direction first 😎

I love how most of the side missions provided in this game actually benefit progression of the main path.

Hated the gear cap at 20 items until I found out I can keep wearing best gear but with the appearance of a lower level item. Which is awesome.

I plan on becoming the ultimate courageous and friendly Slytherin 🐍

I'm one of those people who really explore every nook and cranny of any new area I visit .Someone who will go on the opposite direction just to see if there's something there. I love it when I can discover new pathways or hidden chests along the way. PS: THANK YOU for this beginner's guide. Always helpful and informative.

I explored and looted a lot in the beginning after doing the main quests up through learning the disillusionment charm. Anytime I did a quest, I would go to Hogsmeade to sell gear, so I could have open space for more. I did Merlin trials until I got to 32 on my gear slots.

I love exploring, kept getting yelled at to Stay Close! I don't like the countdown timer when I stray too far. This addressed the questions I had, good to know that we can go back and do side quests later. And thanks for the explanation on they symbols during combat!

Loving this game! Didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I do. After Avatar Generations shut down, I decided to switch to this and I'm glad I did. On my first playthrough, I like to explore and find all I can. The inventory is a pain, but currently completing the Merlin tasks to help with that.

I am absolutely an explorer and have to check every little thing. Having played a lot of classic final fantasy, I have two ingrained rules: There's always a chest/secret I haven't found yet; and, you can never hoard enough materials. I recently finished FFXVI and really enjoyed it, but frankly, Hogwart's Legacy feels like the Final Fantasy RPG I really wanted, with all the crafting, secrets, collectables, side content, and still has that action combat I started to really like. Glad I picked it up! (Only about 4 hours in and I haven't even finished up my first visit to Hogsmeade)

Thank you, this was very helpful ! I was quite frustrated about Protego, for I didn’t realize that there were two colours for the symbol ! I’m colourblind so I often miss that kind of details if it’s not clearly told by the game. I thought I was just doing it wrong. Same for when the opponents are in bubbles, I have a hard time identifying what spell I can use to break them because of colour. And yes, I saw the colourblind adjustment in the settings, and I activated it (I know my colourblind type and was so excited to see that they made it possible to adjust for the three colourblindness types), but still it’s not sufficient. I have difficulty to know it a teleportation flame is activated or not, this kind of colour stuff. But now I know for Protego, and that will help for sure !

My playing style is laid back so I spend as much time as possible after battles looking for loot, ingredients for potions, nearby animals etc and then if there any puzzles nearby I do them as well because it is well known that the combat areas do respawn so unless you want to fight the baddies a second time, my suggestion is to sweep the are while it is free of them so you don't have to come back to that area.

I’m definitely the “explore every nook and cranny of the world/map” kind of player, mainly because I end up finding lots of cool gear and Easter eggs that way.

Took me 3 days to get comfortable with the map and controls, that’s a long time but worth it, this game is awesome

I'm an explorer, I look in every nook, crack and cranny. Under every rock, behind every water fall. I try to climb every cliff, every building, and every tree. And in doing so I often find myself out of bounds, breaking the game, and I'll die... a lot. All just to explore the map, not even questing yet. Then, I'll do side quests until their are no more side quests to do, all as I repeat the above. While also looking for alternative methods and work arounds for various things. After all that, then I'll go do a main quest, just one. Before I start exploring and side questing again, and I may not even finish that main quest before I start going through the two points I mention above... again. And this approach to gaming can mean I take 2-4 hours just to complete the tutorial, when realistically it should only take 5-10 minutes.

I'm a mix of linear vs shiny hunter. I try to stick to the main story, however any time I see something shiny -- I get wicked distracted.

most def i'm going to go wild with the potions and helping as many Creatures i can. I'm going full hufflepuff /Newt playthrough cant wait few more hours to go!

i dont rush, but i dont check every corner. just take my time and keep things in mind for next playthrough

Just started on xbox one, been following the main quest while checking every corner with revelio along the way, great way to get money and gear at the start

It doesn’t seem to be possible to overlevel or be underleveled. No matter what quest I did or when, the enemies scaled to my current level

The game I've mostly played is Genshin Impact, and ever since finding out about Hogwarts Legacy I've been trying to navigate through guides as a beginner. It won't be easy since it's somewhat more hardcore than Genshin itself. But so far, I've understood that Gears work like Artifacts and Talents are essentially Talents. The way I play Genshin is that I enter the side quests first to unlock things before doing the main quest, which will overpower you as you've mentioned. As a big fan of the Harry Potter franchise, I really can't wait to start playing this game. Thanks so much for the guide!

I try to play story and quests progressing together I'm gonna try this play style in a few minutes I'm hyped to boot this up wish me luck oh and Slytherin House will be my first play through.

Spell, stealth and core are DEFINITELY what I'm gonna do.

I believe multiplayer pvp should have a dark arts arena and pve four or 3 man dungeon if they add it and also co’op exploration questions it is good solo Also for console flight should be controlled with left stick and able to look around with right stick plus spells available while flying would be nice The ability bars select should utilise holding or toggle l1 or l2 or r1 or r2 triangle,square,circle,x fore example

What graphic setting are you using?

I’m a side mission and explore guy, I only progress in the story when I absolutely need to or want a certain piece of gear or something. If I finish the story too quick I don’t keep the motivation to keep playing

I got the game because ofthe open world so i figured exploring is a must, plus i love the books.

I maxed out combat quickly because the battles in this game is absolutely amazing

Not a Harry Potter fan at all but picked up the game after constantly being bugged to do so once it hit 60% off or whatever. Must admit, after about 2 hours in (I play slow lol) I find myself hooked and super interested in meeting new characters and personalities in this so far very detailed and beautiful world. They got me. I've alwYs stood by Harry Potter being for children snd I DO NOT do kiddie shit.

I'm definitely a corner checker lol. It just took me 78 hours to play ffxvi lol. Now time to play Hogwarts.

I have played hogwarts legacy many times I recommend taking things slow like for an example I am going through the game by season for an example if it's winter out side in real life then it's winter in game and doing as much side quests as possible during those seasons

I usually have a list of things I do before I run around. That being said, if I don't want to continue the main story any further, I set myself a time limit and run around as much as possible. Then I'll log off once time's up.

I will probably start my playthrough with the story, doing side quests that are near mainquests. Finish the storyline, then finish the rest of the sidequests+find all collectibles. Also team Hufflepuff ftw!

My thing is that I have a legendary robe but my well appointed (green rarity) is wayyyy better that the legendary In terms of stats, and my inventory is full too, I’m early game as well. So do I sell the legendary item and just focus on the better stats despite the worse rarity.

I am SO glad I watched this video before I bought this game! I'm visually impaired so running around the open world, going to lessons, gathering items and completing quests all sounded fun but, now that you've shown me the combat.....it's not for me. Slow-ish, no pressure games are my speed now I've lost my sight and this isn't it 😣 I can only assume the UI either doesn't, or doesn't easily, size up either (like so many games). If The Sims 4 and Planet Zoo can do it then everyone should! 🤦🏻‍♀️😠

I seem to be a weird mix between exploring a ton and collecting items, but I don't really pay attention to the story lol. Definitely need to work on my attention span in that way.

I do both I progress the main story and explore at the same time and I check every corner

Some games like Witcher 3 I love to do all the side quests and hunt loot etc other games I just do some side quests and just mostly stick to the main story

Okay so idk if I'm dumb or, what? I am on xbox one x and the doors will not open. Like, regular doors. Do I have to push a button on my gamepad, or is this just a bug? I can't figure it out and it is frustrating.

I like to explore and do tons of side activities. I listen to some podcasts and could spend hours just collecting things and goofing around. Edit: When I play the game I will probably be a Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff and be a good guy.

I got serveer ocd when it comes to games like this i have to do everything properly i just completed the main game now doing all side quests and completing the fieldguide but i then get bored and start again

I play a lot of souls and Assassin's Creed games so i go through games with a Fine tooth comb

PC release is coming soon! I think everyone technically gets it at the same time, but it's obviously different for each time zone. Only three and a half hours to go.
