The inventor of the Clavinet (Ernst Zacharias) is the granddad of a friend of mine. He's 90+, living here in Hamburg and still inventing stuff. Hopefully gonna meet him soon. I think the guy deserves a technical Grammy or whatever it's called - Funk&Soul music wouldn't have been the same without his instruments.
Glad to see this product of my home town. There is a little chance my grandmother worked on it, since my whole family was working at Hohner at that time. Did you know that Ernst Zacharias was the inventor ? He is now close to 90 and working on a new organ concept in Hamburg. Cheers from Germany, Jörg
Hallo. auch aus Trossingen?? I 'm also made in Trossingen.... Hab sogar noch ein Original Clavinet-Pianet Duo im Original Karton zu Hause.... Liebe Grüße
It's extremely heavy, but it's worth every single pound of weight. Apart from the love you mention, it's got a metal frame where the strings and the two pick-ups are held. The rest of it is basically wood...
@@moneydoctor Ah yes, the 'Castlebar', basically a whammy bar mod kit for Clavinet. As used by George Duke (custom perspex Clavinet too iirc) and also The Crash Kings, see this interview for more info- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nIdHQ7flYsU.html
I owned a D6 Clavinet/Pianet! Loved it. It stayed in tune, whether in cold weather or hot. Pretty amazing. But mine had the tines as well, hence the name Pianet.
Replacing the clavinet D6 is like somebody trying to replace a Fender Stratocaster with a sampler. The clav has real strings, real hammers and real pickups... what more can a keyboardist ask for? If it ain't broke don't fix it! Great vid! You have motivated me to pull mine out of the closet and get some new Hammer tips and strings and I will be back in biz! Peace, Bob
Watching you chanelling your inner Stevie was the best tonic for waking up this morning. I was smiling with you all the way through. Cheers Claudio, for making my day!
THAT is EXACTLY how I got my Juno DS 88 up the stairs and into my office without the wife noticing! No such thing as a light weight weighted keyboard even now!! ❤
One of the most underrated and under-appreciated instruments. Everyone has heard it (mostly thanks to Stevie) but in my experience pretty few have any idea what it is. In any case it makes me happy to see that you have one because you've got the chops to take full advantage of it! Enjoy!
Kc and sunshine band was and is a band with Hohner in the front line played by the leader of that amazing band!!!! TONS of DISCO-FUNK songs are full of sounds from this incredible instrument!!!
Ha, the ineffably tickling pleasure of unboxing a long awaited eBay parcel. Knew that with Roland kbds and Space Echo from Japan, a mini Korg from Bulgaria, Polivokses from Ukraine and Finland... Never gets old!👍🤗
My favourite recording of Hohner D6 Clavinet: Alan Parsons Project-I Robot. You can clearly hear the Hohner in 2.18 min of the song. I love this instrument, I'll give it an 11.
There's a not so subtle Clavinet used in Huey Lewis and the News "Do you Believe in Love?" And in Steely Dan's "Peg" and "Black Cow" to me all very excellent uses for the instrument.
Legend has it that the corridoor in Claudio's home has already started to overflow with bubblewrap long time ago and now his house is vomiting bublewrap through the front door. :D
Jake Clock My 2 cents: For pure rump-shaking FUNK, the clav wins hands down. For badass ‘street-tone’, the Wurlitzer. For all-around non-funk versatility, the Rhodes.
It sounded very warm-funky , and also maybe sometimes it reminds me some parts of I-Robot soundtrack made by Alan Parson, I think there's a Clavinet [or do I link it to some chords of PF Animals.. A.Parson producer maybe?] Anyway your happiness is greatly contagious, the sound on my Bluetooth speaker is awesome, I don't know if digital could mimic it but that sounds awesome. Don't tell him but if Davie504 played the Clavinet instead of making therapy times he would cure his dizzy followers much faster. I feel good. Later I'll be a Clavinet maker (and player) ! + Rhodes, Wurlitzer, Moogs, and we'll see for more pianos, guitars, bass, harps, flutes, drums, etc..
11 out of 10. A sound so often imitated you rarley get to hear a real one. So many nice noises, imperfections, clicks and clunks coming out. Warmth too.
Congrats on a nice rig!! You’re funny Claudio, the way you hurled the dolly into the other room. Good demo, nice playing! 6:44 best sound, nice and fat! 🎶
