With the air land doctrine from superior firepower researched, exceeding combat width and +75% air superiority, the bonuses will totally remove defensive bonuses for level 5 forts and lower. With the siege artillery fort attack trait you can even do an extra +20 attack vs forts!
@@dustinl796 Its so he can create a completely different army that would be made of offensive templates, frontline holding templates, tanks and garrisons. Basically an entire army reform.
Hey, I just wanted to say, your channel has been getting lot less clickbaity, amd the guides have been a lot more organized, and useful. So thanks I guess.
I've never intended my channel to be exactly clickbaity and it's just when I was first starting out when I got popular I got excited and just tried to make everything seem amazing and maybe went a little bit overboard at the start LOL
I remember in my first multiplayer game, I didn't knew about one division training and I was called a noob more than Hitler was called fuhrer in his lifetime. :(
1:42 No, you should NEVER 1 div train as the soviets. If you delete most of your divisions, you won't be able to send volunteers to Spain which is better for farming army xp.
@@dustinl796 Even if you manage to end the civil war in 37 it's still a very bad idea to 1div train as soviets and here is why: **You can already get tons of army xp from lend lease and attache to china; especially if you combine them with your army chief that gives you 10% army xp gain. The amount you get from 1 div training is nothing compared to that. Also most of your starting divisions are halfway to rank 3 and trying to get new fresh divions to rank 3 will cost you alot of inf equipment: Also if you delete them you will have to get around the 100k cap limit when trying to mass recruit your divisions and for what? Extra 50 army xp you get from only 2 years of 1div training?**
To be honest I don't really play the Soviets very often and it kind of slipped my mind about how much xp they can get by sending 10 divisions to the Spanish Civil War
There was a famous Kamikaze who famously actually crash-bombed his plane several times. Apparently he was a dab hand at bailing out and a miraculous swimmer. And he returned to the air something like three times before finally dying in a Kamikaze strike.
I’ve been playing hoi 4 for the past 230 hours and I’m still terrible. I’m finding a balance and every time a improve parts of my play I encounter a new issues. You’re videos have been a great help thank you.
Terrible relative to the AI or MP? Id say even 2000 hours isnt a predictor for MP success. As long as you feel favored against regular AI with 200ish hours, you're doing fine.
The great Divine Wind will sweep him to safety and back to the shores of Japan so that he can get another plane and another shot of meth and heroin to do it all over again!
Dustin hit it out of the ball park again. So I didn't understand what the Reinforce rating meant. I thought it referred to reinforcing divisional loss of strength in combat. That is really important to know. I wonder how the game determines how fast a division receives strength reinforcement from losses or is that just a fixed modifier for the game? Obviously, supply has to figure in to that calculation but is there some other modifier? Thanks Dustin.....
With italy mine when at war with ethiopia then go for claim yugoslavia. When there is 120 days left for the focus conquer greece start justifying retake core state to yugoslavia. That way youll avoid western guarentee for the balkan reigons and be at war with greece yugoslavia romania and chezchkoslovakia. The war may last untill germany demands sudetenland which will allow you to mine the mediterranean further. After you go to war with allies make 3-4 destroyer patrols and strike force with your battleships. Obliterate united kingdom without losing a single battleship
For one division training when is a good time to stop training and recruit your army? I never seem to be able to get it so my army is at full strength for the war to start or I end up ending training too soon and lose out on a ton of xp.
If you're in multiplayer as the United States or any Allied country you usually want to stop and start building your army either 12 or 15 months before you're going to be at War
They say that current wars are fought with the weapons of the last war, but that's always been most accurate when it comes to France. They went into the Franco-Prussian war thinking it would be a repeat of their fight with Prussia during the Napoleonic Wars, they went to war with Germany using Napoleonic style weapons and tactics, they fought WW2 like it was still 1916 and imho I think they fought the Algerian War like it was still a set piece war or maybe a colonial conflict and not a wide scale insurgency. If WW3 ever breaks out they'll probably try sending in bloody dreadnoughts and biplanes....
Don't worry about it, Hearts of Iron 4 is kind of funny because there's so many things to learn and there's not a guide in single player or anything for it you have to learn everything mostly yourself which is why I do tutorial videos. I have over 5000 hours and I still learn things on it, like the research thing I covered at the very beginning of the video on how to swap research. I didn't know that until last week when I did it by mistake
Yeah switching designers... I totally have that much to spend willy nilly on designers... Would love to do that, but kinds have other concerns that trump it, and I have to make do with only 1 designer for my tanks.
14:00 mining for early war nation due to mission locked is commonly known even among sp player since it was even pointed out during dev diary and dev stream. . FOR MP, the reason it is obviously banned and only allowed during actual war time because in vanilla -90% speed for fleet in fully mined sea zone means death sentence for any ship to attempt to sail there. And of course no one will be triggered by that but simply fixed by rehost or save file edit since anyone can easily find that if one were breakingf that rule. When u join a mp game , it is a norm to check and abide the rule. The so called "no mp communities dont wan to let other knows" applied for groups which they themselves will go around this mechanic when newer players did not know about it. anyway this video is quite informative for newer players but some of that will be too micro/macro intensive unless you are drilled to ur mind.
I believe they are losing a lot of plane not because of mission efficiency but because if airdetection which a radar can be helpful tk boost. If i an not mistaken missionefficiency is just for superiority, but u can have superiority for a while and then lose it if the enemy has better airdetectiob
Actually I've done a test on it before and neither level 1 or level 5 radar has no difference on fighter losses, it only affects finding naval ships an increasing the chances of intercepting bombers to lower the amount of factories Bomed
"the larger your army, the less army exp you get" Actually that's not true. As long as the difference between your army template isn't too many, army exp doesn't fall off too much (i.e. 100 divisions of 40w pure infantry and 1 division of 40w pure infantry give the same army exp)
Perfect video to show why old "grognards" like me will NEVER really love this game. EVERY SINGLE ONE of these is an exploit. I am not being critical of the gamer that uses these; only the developer/designer that made the game. If you do not like the word, or disagree then consider how this "tactics" could EVER have been used at all let alone successfully in reality. IMHO, in v4 of such a flagship title that is just pathetic.
Good one) Maybe should mention opposite to. As the Soviets to make a lot of shit divsions to be able send a lot of divisions as volunteers. But true for Ita or Ger wanting to help Spain.
The way it works is you need to have at least 30 divisions available to send a single volunteer at all. The amount of volunteers you can send division wise is pretty much solely based on the Manpower you have deployed
I'm pretty sure it does, once is Germany I used a bunch of army experience to make a ton of 1 volume divisions it was able to send like 30 volunteers to the Spanish Civil War
And for Mechanized doctrine players: USE THE DAMNED SPGS! SPG ARTY DEALS WAY BETTER DEAL, TDs have FRIGGIN ARMOR! SPAA is a faster way of normal AA! Yeah normal arty and AT may be cheaper and don't need fuel, but their speed, and relatively higher damage potential makes up for it.
I agree, especially for countries like Germany where you need to try and make the most of your manpower, your going to be fighting alot in open areas, and you have near limitless steel it only makes sense. Sure, fuel can be a bit of an issue but as long as you get Romania on your side it should be a big issue. It's easier to get more fuel then more manpower when your throwing men into the woodchipper that is eastern europe and SPG's will allow you to leverage your superior industrial power and counter Russias superior numbers.
I’ve stopped playing hoi4 lately because it is absolutely pissing me off. Somehow with 7/2 inf with full support and medium tanks companies hitting weak points I can’t break through the Russians or allies anymore or vice versa because they just spam units with full equipment even if they don’t have the mild to produce it and aren’t getting lend lease. It’s so frustrating to have a nation with 20 divisions suddenly have 80
If you look at my template guides you'll actually see a few country-specific ones. Artillery was really nerfed and you have to have either 4 / 4 or 8/8 along with Superior Firepower or mobile Warfare with a lot of tank divisions
Basically it's a cheat but it does not work in Iron Man mode. To the left of the number 1 on the keyboard is the tilde key. You press this and it opens the console and game where then you can add cheat codes. The one for experience like I added was simply just (XP 500)
I'm not sure how useful the research tip is? Yea you get 30 days off a tech, but you weren't researching anything else during those 30 days, so in effect it would seem to put the player behind.... Or maybe it's a serial vs. parallel question....
@Miguel Vd it is ideal to have 10 20 and 40’s, if you have 30’s you can have 2 of them, 30 and 30 is 60 add another 30 and you have 90, you will have to have another province to attack from to have that combat width, same with 25, adds up to 50 then 75, you always want max combat width, 40 and 40, 80, 4 20’s, 80, 8 10’s, 80, k?
Because of combat with you always want to try to keep it sort of balanced. It goes up in levels of 40 and 80, this means you either want 20, 10, or 40 combat with units
It's really weird but once you do actually get it it doesn't show it Buff's up the motorized but if you keep watching one of your templates hardness and then once you research mechanized the hardness of the template will actually go up even though it doesn't show it going up with the motorized
Hey Dustin, do u know if there's any way to "skip" a research boost. For example I was playing as the USA and completed the focus that gives you a 300% research boost to heavy fighters. However, I hadn't researched H.fighter 1's therefore I could only use my 300% boost on them instead of Hfighter 2's or 3's.
To be honest I'm not entirely sure. What I normally do is I will make a 5 to 1 ratio is what I try with firefighters and one heavy fighter in multiplayer but for single player I'll do 2 to 1, this way as long as you have close to the same amount of planes as the enemy you'll have a lot higher chance of getting air superiority which will give troops on the ground better bonuses
@@dustinl796 Ive seen and heard a mixed bag on AS vs Intercept and why one is better than the other and why you should do both or shouldnt. You always seem to make solid videos on HOI4 so thought I'd ask the master! Keep doing what you do man! Love the content!
Thanks, I'll probably make a video dedicated to it in the future but for right now air superiority means your planes Target Fighters first, interception means they target bombers first but they will not take off from an Airfield unless they actually detect bombers early on
12:15 dont listen to that bullshit. it will never reach 55% because it is not +20% it is 20% more of that base which is 35 which in other words is 7% so the bonus will be 42% not 55%
1.- Research semi-Exploit (almost not at all since you use the same research "time" just that focus in 2 tech) 2.-Army exp Exploit 3.-Unless you want to end the game in latte 2000's and you get PP at a rate of 5+ per day is kinda a waste of time 4.-A nice one 5.-Is good to know but mostly only usefull if your divisions are going to be pushed back a lot and you have MP to waste (aka URSS or China) 6.-Good to know so you dont get backfired for masives riots in you back. 7.-Who use Motorized in place of Mech? (unless you're a really poor country) 8.-Well...that what Air sup is for. 9.-To be clear, the 100%'s bonuses dont apply to already research, even if you cancel and try it again, but you forget to say that Designers and other bonus do work, and is better to try to save those 100% or higher bonus so you can rush some tech, like having Heavy figthers T3 in the earlys/mid 1940's 10,.Only 9 or the Designers count for 2? 10+s, Usually for the begining of the war and anytime you have the uperhand Heavy Figthers are must go, and for the late war (when ppl already got T3 Figthers is better to use those About the Sea miners i really do not see any good use, even when figthing against UK & US, putting MInes covering all the zones where they could be/move and having the 1000's mines, the higher number of accidents they get was less that 10, actually the mines help more to get sea superiority that anything else...
Basically it's damage taken and given in a way, if a division has 50% hardness in 50% softness whatever the enemy division Soft & Hard attack is gets split by 50% for the stats of soft for soft attack in hardness for heart attack. Then that's the number of damage taken from those units specialties
So so, they do damage but never really sink any ships. They're mostly there to buy time while you build your Navy up but they will sink convoys if they attack them
Does it change after your the game is over or have I been playing on civilian difficulty the entire time of me making videos on RU-vid? LOL just kidding 😂
Dustinl796 Videos I changed it once because I was testing a mod and for a whole week I was kicking ass as Germany. Then I go back to the save and I noticed it was Civilian. :(
@@dustinl796 glad you like it. Hoi2 was miles better. Hoi4 by comparison is far too sandbox for my liking. The front line system is barely manageable, constantly losing its formation, splitting into separate armies at bad points. Forever having to redraw the lines. It's horrid.
I tried switching all my military factories to civilian as Germany to boost long term military factory production, but i also forgot and decided to bring back the king. Needless to say ww2 lasted until 1948. Luckily England helped save me from the Italians and soviets.
xD. Sorry man, I'm being a smartass asshole, but.... That's called Return of the Kaiser. Not Return of the König. King =/= Emperor. Germany gets an EMPEROR, not a King. You're not playing Sweden bruh! PS: also better bring the Kaiserin.
Really wish they would re-work the advisor system for bonuses toward specific researches like you showed w/ the Tanks. I think it would make more sense to have that bonus applied when you design new models. In fact, I kind of hope at some point they apply the whole MTG idea toward the ground and air war too. Would be interesting to see some different style tanks and planes with different bonuses. Wish they would update the division designer a bit too. Maybe I'm missing it, but is there a way to limit specific air wings to only use specific models of aircraft? There's been a few moments when I wanted to use older models over newer models in specific areas of the world, not wasting the newer models which are more valuable elsewhere or even stockpiled for replacements where needed? ie I was fighting in South America, had a couple air wings there, didn't need nor want fighter 2's & newly researched/produced fighter 3's there, the fighter 1's would have worked better as the enemy had limited air coverage to begin with. and/or I've had modded/maxed out Fighter 2's get replaced with new mint fighter 3's when I didn't want them to yet. really annoying. The division designer stat card seems to only show the newest equipment & research bonuses? is there a way to have it update when using/limiting to older equipment, without producing that division first? Would be handy to know how shitty some of my guard divisions are, and to maybe provide them with certain equipment for certain situations. would be nice to assign various equipment types maybe even in a % formula, say 20% of them get newer guns for now, then 50% later when production is good... so many possibilities, but seems like Paradox is squandering them.
Well first you can check eqpt ammounts by pressing i or clicking logistics up top with construction, click whatever eqpt type you want to know (arty, rifles, fighters) and it will show a list of like 12k rifles 1, 22k rifles 2 and 3k rifles 3. And yes, pausethe game and send the old planes to where ever you want them and there will be 3 little buttons. Click the left circle to lower eqpt priority but also deploy the new fighters somewhere on high priority or the new planes will go to the old
Wow, I always research radio anyways to get to the radar and other stuff, but I never knew what it actually did. Is there any other ways to increase reinforcement rate besides radio and the support company you mentioned?
Dustinl796 Videos interesting stuff I found, I was looking through all the tree bonuses and I found that all the land doctrines have 2% bonuses, except Mass Assault has a 5% bonus. Ofc there are other problems with mass assault so maybe not the best doctrine choice still.
Very nice video. Got a question for you if you can help. Im up against a HUGE allied air force in my russia game and im looking for a way to take down their fighters without huge losses...can this be done? Ive got control of the Pacific so they have no way to out produce me and time will work in my favor, im just after a better solution then attrition.
@@ShortT-RexLikeArms does that actually shoot down fighters? I didnt think it did and just reduced the impact of their air superiority. I sort of need my bombers in the air to help.
As for going up against Fighters the only thing you can do is try to shoot them down in a battle with your Fighters, if you're going to try to take down there cas something else you could do is put AAA in your divisions and that will take them down without major losses to your planes
