HoI4 A to Z: Austria can make Austria-Hungary AGAIN! 

Yup I saw him pull up the focus tree first minute into the video and I was confused, at this point I would’ve been totally okay with bitter using Road to 56 for certain countries. Because Austria not having a proper focus tree is downright fucking disgusting.

The fact that austria, sweden with norway and (I think) whole south america does not have a unique focus true is like you said, downright fucking disgusting. You pay 20-30$ for a dlc, and all you get is focus tree up to 2-3 countries. And don't give me the "paradox can support hoi4 thanks to this" crap. It helps, but this amount of money for so little is no laughing matter. mods can give you better focus trees, and much, much more for free. Why can't just paradox contact them, and work with them? literally no reason to give money to paradox at this point, they are so anti consumer.

Switzerland tree is so offputting when playing as them or when playing against them, on ahistorical they usually get half of my Italian puppets for free its kinda revolting

Aren't all defunct states by definition "failed" once they can't control their own territory? How was Austria-Hungary any more of a failed state than, for example; the German Empire (and then the German Reich), Russian Empire (and then the Soviet Union), Kingdom of Denmark-Norway (and then the United Kingdoms of Sweden and Norway), Roman Empire, Holy Roman Empire, the many forms of Spain over the years, the many French Republics/Empires, etc.? These all lasted for a long time until some revolution happened to where it couldn't continue existing and became some other form with different territory.

Same with Egelseer because Germany gets him as a general (a good one at that) and then you have this generic guy in the middle of unique german portraits sticking out like a sore thumb

@@Hilter420 I'm incredulous as to whether Germany would need another "rework," but they 100% need a "tune-up" like the Together For Victory countries got. More portraits, more flavour, maybe some minor improvements to a few focuses like Form the RKs so you could have more puppets like Bohemia-Moravia and the General Government.

Well for a fact if Austria gets fascist without getting Anchlussed, and Germany makes Reichkommissariat Niederlande, Seyss-Inquart will be in charge of both but will only have a portrait on the kommissariat.

Arthur Zes en een Kwart was Hitler’s man in the Netherlands, so it is strange that he has a generic portrait. Also Ernst Kaltenbrunner with generic photo, same as Rendulic I think.

Me doing Austria for years 💀 I only have Waking the Tiger and Battle of the Bosporous sooo... no spy stuff or whatever etc. . I even managed to ally with Italy against them twice, holding the 2 tiles at the Mountain Range left and right, but it doesn't work! Italians are so bad somehow 😭 I would never start from Hungary. Doesn't fit

There’s also a mod named “Dreams of Austria” where you can remake the Austrian and Austro Hungarian Empires. ( The HRE too )

i doubt Austria will get a tree. The right time to give Austria a focus tree was in Death or Dishonor or By Blood Alone. Same for Albania, who was skipped THREE times: Death or Dishonor (they're next to Yugoslavia), Battle for the Bosporus (they're next to Greece), and By Blood Alone (they're connected to Italy)

Nordic (apart from Finnish) is Germanic btw :) So is English... And Belgium is more Dutch and French than German. Only the tiny territory ceded to Belgium after WW1 is ethnically German. More Dutch people speak German as their native language than in Belgium... Germanic is a language family, German is a specific language. The areas we typically consider German are part of the High and Low German language groups (which does not include Belgium) And you forgot about Alsace-Lorraine (modern day Alsace-Moselle) in France, which is a majority High German area, and Trentino-Alto Adige (southern Tyrol) in Italy, also a majority High German area. Both of these areas are bigger (Just Trentino-Alto Adige in Italy has over a million people, compared to the 77,000 in Belgium) than the tiny part of Belgium that is majority German...

But wouldn't that make you not actually control the tile you've walked onto? I've had many instances of my troops standing on enemy territory after retreating onto it.

@@theorange1729 That happens to me sometimes but if you unpause the game for a few hours the tile will swap to you

Munich does not happen, Czechs fight for their country and Austrian mustachio gets assassinated. I think it is The Oster Conspiracy event and 33% chance of getting that ending. Historical focuses probably went to the toilet once Anschluss failed.

there is one for Hungary. Austria never had a tree at all, it uses the default minor country tree

pretty sure it still works. you need to be in germany faction and have germany called to arms. i think you need 1-2 days before the game realises, only then refuse also immediately join the faction again btw, bc germany still have the wargoal on you, the trick is to be im the faction. refusing amshlauss kicks you out. if you dont answer that popup om the top of the screen quick, germany is gonna attack anyway
