Really enjoyed the 5, I've done 740 km in them so they have definitely listed most of their grip, now I've moved to the On Cloudflyer to try out. The on's are lighter but also stiffer then the arahi so I personally prefer them over the hoka because I find them rather big but I'd like to try the new version. Great video

Nice one Chris. I have to wear support shoes all the time and I'm holding out for the Saucony Tempus. That shoe looks like it could be a game changer for the support shoe market. 🤞🏻

Great review and not too much jargon for newbies, was interested in this shoe as I was told I had slight over probate after a gait analysis and I liked the look and feel of these best after trying most of what they had on offer in the shop, my only concern is the price for my first "proper" pair of running shoes and then not last too long

I have put 400 miles on the Arahi 5’s. They are nice and light and breathable. The big problem I have is the rate of wear, the soles were shot long ago and they seem to wear strangely on the heel, which is unusual as I run on the mid foot. They are also terrible on the odd occasion that it’s icy. I plan to try the new Saucony Guide 15, but they don’t seem to be obtainable.

Would be interested to get your updated take on the durability after 100+ miles. I have Arahi 5 and the outsole has worn a lot! I've not hit 200 miles yet and I can't see myself getting past 300 miles out of them.

Great review Fordy 👍 had the arahi 4 and 5, I preferred the 4 but I thought the 5 was good. The only problem I had with these shoes was that they weren't as durable as others and I found the outsole seem to wear down quite fast, when I got to 400km ( about 250 miles) it felt like the shoes were finished. Other stability shoes from new balance seem to last me a lot longer.

I've been wearing Mizuno Wave Inspirws for a few years now. Bought based on a running gait analysis but then endorsed by a sports podiatrist as I was injuring myself through general lack of strength in my legs. I've addressed that through a variety of methods and use the Mizunos as my day to day shoe for everything except races and fast pace training runs. After 750kms the uppers look like new and cushioning is still good for short to medium runs. I have narrow feet.

I got this shoe and think it’s very comfy and good to run in ,the stability is good I think and my legs don’t get tired to quickly can do a good 4-10 k and my legs still really feel fresh even with hill training

Is the wider version of the Arahi wider in the toe box, or the midfoot, or both? I'm asking because I have a narrow foot in the middle but appreciate more toe room.

I came back to running after 10 years last Feb. Liked the look of the Arahi think it was version 4. As I have always mildly overpronated. After a few months I had a foot pain which seemed to mimic the J frame of the shoe. Could barely walk at one point stopped waring them, have wore neutral shoes ever since without any issues, the arahi’s I had were grey it summed up the shoe

Nearly 300miles into my arahi 5s and the shoe is holding up really well. Forefoot cushioning has loosened up as the miles have ticked by and the outsole has hardly any wear at all when I compare it to my saucony guide 14s for example with similar miles. May hit arahi 7s before they wear out!!!!

I could not get on with these at all and revert back to the tried and tested Brooks Adrenaline GTS and Glycerin GTS. Granted they not the best looking shoes in the world but they do exactly what they supposed to do. I'm similar to you having a very light pronation and I find the Rail system of Brooks just work! I’m still to find a pair that are better than the Brooks. I’m looking forward to the new Glycerin with the new foam.

Not a stability shoe, but something about the Adios 6 just makes for a brilliant every day shoe, with tonnes of hidden stability mechanics within it. I would highly recommend it to anyone, just make sure you go half a size up 👍🏻

Had Adrenaline 20's and currently trying to rotate Adrenaline 21 and Arahi 5's (both wide) but keep putting on the Arahi's. When you need stability and have a wider foot choices are limited.

Thanks for all the info! Any max cushion, stability shoes that you like better than the Arahi? I’m a big guy with weak ankles so I’m trying to find the perfect shoe. Currently running in the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21 and they’re a little too stiff for me. Thanks!

Just bought these this weekend, loved my first run on them perfect balance of cushioned support but still some pop in them arrived back home after a steady 11 miler with a smile on my, face and fresh feeling legs however that smile turned to frown when looked at the sole the outside heel tread is showing signs of wear already after only one run, I am hoping this wear won't continue at the same rate or I won't reach 100 miles in them, fingers crossed they last. Anyone else having the same wear issues

I had a Gait Analysis done & was told i had fallen arches and i overpronate on my right foot. I was recommended a stability shoe. I tried the Arahi 6 but they said i was still rolling in them, so they tried the Arahi 5 on me and they seemed better. But as soon as i was on the road, they gave me terrible pains in the ankles. I then saw a Podiatrist and even though they agreed i still pronate on the right, i could wear a neutral with an insole, they recommened the Brooks Ghost 14, i tried them on & they were perfect, i also tried the Glycerin but they could tell straight away that i was off balance and rolling in them too, so im currently in the Ghost 14 and im loving them so far. So issues and great for walking, i'll be trying Couch 2 5 K in them soon. But shocked i was told Stability & now been told Neutral.

Had the Arahi 5s and enjoyed them overall once I got used to the stack height. They weren't mindblowing but then what stability shoe is? I have high hopes for the Saucony Tempus though! 🤞🏽

Fordy - Curious why is the brooks adrenaline is “from the 80s” ? clearly asking because I have them and they are my first stability shoe for quite pronounced over pronation I don’t mind them - what am I missing

It’s a joke if you’ve seen the recent brooks video I looked back over the last 6 or 7 brooks and they all looked the same … there’s nothing wrong with the 80’s I really dig it but my point to brooks is they are awesome so let’s turn up the greatness and give us some funky new tech and designs

I’ve tried them all and as far as dependable stability I’m forced to be team ASICS. Returned Arahi 4 but now that I’m embracing firm and rigid I can see giving Arahi 5/6 another chance. Current rotation is Kayano 27, Kayano Lite 1, Hurricane 23 (bleh), Prism V1, DS Trainer 25, GT 2000 8 GTX, and new favorite Endorphin Shift.

I also only wear stability for long slow runs. After having every pair of adrenalines since the 17, my current 21 iteration will be my last-they are now my dog walking shoe! Utterly boring and nowhere near as good as they used to be- it’s like Brooks have given up. I am using the brooks launch GTS7 which are ok but need something for long runs. The Arahi 5 didn’t work for me so I’ll give these a miss. I guess the search continues.

@@FordyRuns I will definitely keep an eye open for that review… Now we just need a carbon plate race shoe that’s wider fitting (and stability would be nice) I don’t understand why manufacturers cut such a big chunk out of this market- not everyone who wants a fast shoe has narrow feet with perfect probation!

These outsoles squeak while walking and sound like they're wet. How do I stop that? Sandpaper? It's too annoying.

I love the Hoka design but those shoes don't last more than a year of very light and moderate use (twice a week average 7k) The fabric used for the internal in the heel part last even less plus you can feel the internal stitching on the hell. Another downside is that customer service in Europe is practically non-existent. I sent them photos of the shoe a month ago which is unusable given that the fabric has detached from the sole and on the heel the fabric has holes in various parts and I didn't receive any answer. No more Hoka for me!

Bough a archive 5, the J frame came undone after 50k. Such a disappointment because the ride felt great. I don't know if I want to give hoka a go again, their durability ducks in my book
