I took the rebel v3 for a test run at my local shop yesterday… and I LOVE it. I’ve never immediately loved a shoe this much. It just disappears on your foot. Do recommend
Ran 5k race speeds in the Hoka size D. Was blown away by the performance. Immediately fell in love. Since this model is offered in a wide I did return it due to it being narrow. Went for an easy run. So disappointed. It wasn’t even the same shoe. It weighed significantly more and wasn’t as responsive. And felt more cushioned in the forefoot. Returned the wide and went back to a regular as it was tolerable. It was just really annoyingly tight but not painful. That’s my experience with the Mach 5. This might be my shoe of the year.
I own the rebel v3, I’m normally a 2e 11 and had to go up an entire size for these to 12.. other than that, I absolutely love them, so much that when I saw some half price I bought 2 more pair. They remind me of my new balance 890v7s I had a few years ago that I loved too, both those and the rebels are my favourite shoes ever I’d say! Never tried hoka but I’m interested now after this.
I just realized ima 2E guy as well. I found these on sale but just the normal width. Going up a size works for you? Should I go for it?? I have the 1080v13. I love them but I want something for faster runs.
I know you guys don't like the ASICS Novablast 3, but I've been running in them (the trail version) since September and have run (light) trail runs in them, long runs, strides and been logging in daily miles without feeling as sore as I would in other shoes. The Rebel v2 and Mach 4 didn't last me more than 500-600km, and I'm a pretty light runner, so it's a shame. I would hope running shoes would last longer like they used to (my favourite shoe- Saucony Freedom 3, had two pairs of them and both lasted well over 1,000km). Peace out and thanks for your thoughts
Good video Nick, I'd take the Streakfly over the Rebel for the shorter runs and still use my Endorphin Speed 3 for longer, never been a fan of Hoka but have heard good things about them so could be tempted
Always a great job from Nick. Here's a thought, Nick, next month the Puma Liberate Nitro 2 comes out. I would love to hear your comparative views on the Puma verses the two you reviewed today. Pricepoint is identical I think. All are nonplated. Thanks.
I bought a second pair of rebel v3 s because I liked it so much wanted the black as well as the grey. Unfortunately here in Australia hoka has priced the Mach 5 same as Speed 3 so I won't buy. Speed 3 is too reliable and also can trust it to perform in races and park run. Did 28k trail race last weekend and couldn't decide between the Hyperion tempo or NB hierro.... Went speed 3 and definitely no regrets 👟
Hmm, I've already got the more v3 for longer easy runs, so i think I'd forgo the comfort of the mach 5 and go the rebel v3 for a daily trainer, which i am in the market for, so thanks.
@@TheRunTesters got my rebel v3's last night so i wore them to work. I already love them. Bounding down the train platform to catch my train i felt so fast. All I've owned is slow More V3's or carbon plated racers. But a fast and springy non plated shoe is a delight!
