@ZeroShred yeah I was born in 75, so I remember our Rome. But I am still optimistic about which way this program is going. I know the landscape in college football has changed since, but I think we have the right coaches, and I am finally excited to see where this goes. The fair weather fans will always doubt, but TRUE fans will believe. Win or lose, I love my team and am proud to witness the changing of the guard, so to speak.

This coaching staff took what they had in the cupboard from last year and some new faces this year and brought back Husker pride and fight until the end. The players had a bevy of reasons they could have packed it in and quit. Naysayers, critics and bandwagoners will spew their negative energy all over blogs but I feel good about the future. Just fight your tails off til the end win or lose. If both teams leave the field knowing they were both in a serious fight, that's football! The wins will come. At this rate they have to. The Huskers played the hand they were dealt this year with players jumping ship, a cancelled game, no bye week, injuries and one hellava tough schedule! I got no complaints!
The great thing about this game and how this year went is you know they are going to be EXTREMELY determined to not be in this position EVER again. EXTREME hardworking in the off season from seniors to freshmen

I think Nebraska will be competitive again in about 3 or 4 more years. It will take that long to see the rise of the walk-on program. Iowa was bigger and more physical as was most of the teams Nebraska plays. I hope it happens sooner but I am trying to be realistic.
I'm a lifelong Hawkeye, but I'm very glad Nebraska is on the mend. I was sad to see how your season began, but you guys really fit in the Big Ten, with nice Smash Mouth helmet-to-helmet football. Now if we can just get North Dakota State in the Big Ten and get rid of Rutgers, life will be good.
I still can't get over how thrilled I am to have Scott coaching the team. They showed vast improvement over the season. This team is 10X better than last years team was at this time. this was a really tough year to endure @ nebr. flashes of greatness, but mostly bumbling. how can a player be recruited to a major college program, and they don't know basic secondary coverage techniques, tackling techniques or even the rules of the game? who downs a kick-off on their 7? smarter players is the key. there has been much improvement from the woeful first few games, with much fewer penalties, and some defense even showed up once in a while. progress will continue, and hopefully next year won't be so painful to watch. 'no excuse zone' should be posted in the locker room, as nothing short of your best intelligent effort is required. coach frost understands the culture, (I am still kinda mad at you for that Stanford thing mr frost) the teamwork needed, and the expectations. Devaney had to struggle, as did Osborn, and they were swore at often, but some truly great football eventually happened.
Hate the result.. Huskers have a lot of grit... Im getting the feeling that that might be the last time in a while that Iowa gets one... Nebraska is trending on high right now and im really happy with the way we ended the season.. Excited about the future going forward... #Gbr

I give Iowa credit for taking care of business in this series though.. You should beat a team thats won less than 6 games.. But thats changing under Frost. Nebraska will win AT LEAST 9 games a year(and thats at least).. Iowa had a good run but Nebraskas turn is coming up. So it is what it is.

The schedule will be easier next year and it's natural to see a team grow from year one to two in a regime change. But that defense has a long ways to go and theres zero excuse for giving up that many fucking rushing yards. They need to stiffen up in the front 7 FAST

I love how there are so many negative comments on this post game press conference vs any other previously in the season. Clearly everyone saying anything negative is a bandwagon who comes to see the press conference on the last game of the season. We have grown leaps and bounds. What we did to solidified teams on a transition season is amazing, after 3 years we will be top of the big 10.
I agree with you! We were a few plays away from a good season. They have made monumental strides in my opinion. By the time Martinez is a Junior and Senior, and these guys have a few years in this program, we are going to be great! If we can hold our own against teams this year with everything then next year we can only go up!
Martinez will be a Heisman candidate. Wouldn't be surprised if it was next year. Everything is in the rite direction. First year new coach, can't wait till year 2, but I bet the rest of the big ten can!! They will definitely dread big red power next year. Love seeing the option and the pass is great to. Go Big Red!!
Iowa knew to keep our offense off the field and time managed the game, their front line was huge and held their own, we fought back but fell short, pretty much came down to one play, can’t wait till next season, Go Big Red
With Stanley Morgan leaving Washington would be great at that position. A lot of the Big 10 lose less starters than the huskers this year. Especially Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State at least we get a better schedule with toughest games at home. Definitely need Quality help at WR, OL and LB.

@Michael j Using a fullback unfortunately doesn't fit in this style of offense. The teeth of this offense is the amount of options and misdirection... and moving to a tradition I with a fullback would take away from it. Teams find success running the fullback as we saw, but that isn't the offense that Frost runs. This offense proves it can be successful in the B1G when the right guys are in, and this team will continue to prove that and improve upon it as time goes on in my opinion.
@Michael j C'mon man of course and I don't mean options like THE option. Frost isn't Osborne. He learned and exceeds in coaching his own style of offense. Emulating another one just because of Nebraska's history would do no good when the offense he went 12-0 with at UCF is his bread and butter. Teams have success with fullbacks, Nebraska WAS one of them, that isn't ran by the coaching staff we currently have. This offense is actually breathing life into this team and fanbase, and I'd watch that over Iowa-type team's boring offense with said fullbacks. This offense this year broke the Nebraska record of consecutive 450+ yd games. Plenty of holes were open and plenty of catches were made to do it sans a fullback.
CONGRATULATIONS to the CORNHUSKERS for a very successful YEAR of football!!! Sure we had our down and outs but compared to the past 20 years this has been the most successful year of ALL of them. At the start of the game playing I said it was very difficult to wipe out 20 years of foolishness in just one year...Coach Frost...I WAS WRONG!!! With you at the helm this Nebraska team has achieved the impossible. ALL of you senior players can go out holding your heads high with Nebraska PRIDE!!! 2019 season is 6 days away. Imagine the terror this team can be if they close those close games like Iowa, OSU, Northwestern, Troy, Stupid penalty against Colorado. This was at least an 8-4 - 9-3 team. They will be better this year. 10-2 facing Michigan in Indy.
Total disappointment.Once again just like at the beginning of the season Frost makes bad play calls.You sent your senior stud 1000yd. running back Ozigbo out with a whopping 10 carries.Too pass happy with the play calling once again and it cost you an interception.Chinander continually had the defense playing too loose or in the wrong set,better in the 4th quarter but as a whole,bad.The kids deserved better than to have their coaches making bad calls.Hopefully the coaches learn from their mistakes and next year will be a winning year.
