samfaitloler I think he films the commercials he makes and directs them, then the other people are his general assistants and editors for the film etc that he makes
I grew up in the Bronx borough of NYC and was in Manhattan every day. Its a beautiful place with a lot of opportunities. I'm currently 17 and moving to the Manhattan borough this year. There's always something to do and a lot of crazy things to get into if you aren't boring. I once got chased with a Machete in Co-Op and then found the same guy in Harlem. He again chased us with a Machete. NYC is fun.
Aww, vintage Neistat. Vintage as in pre-Dji, pre-Boosted Board. but, the videos still look real.... Oh, OH, wait a tic. There a boosted Board. Now we know where he picked that up. Casey,,, you owe that kid a new board ;)
"The idea doesn't matter. What matter is the execution" -Casey Neistat you sure do what you preach... that's a whole new level of vlogging. Can you capture more of "the soul" of NY? it makes me feel all tingly inside.
Hi Casey, I don't know if you'll get to read this but I just want you to know that I appreciate all of your videos. I've been watching youtube videos and youtubers since 2005 and out of all the vloggers, I can honestly say that you are the coolest! I look forward to seeing your videos everyday and I hope you won't ever get tired of making daily vlogs :)
these time lapses are sick. how long do you need to leave the cameras recording for to get shots like that? do people mind being filmed? do they ever object?
I would be such a paranoid wreck leaving my cameras around like that... especially in NYC. I really admire how much work he puts into these videos to make them beautiful. :)
Thank you these slice-of-life videos, Casey! By putting so much effort into short vlogs you make a celebration out of ordinary moments, showing us the beauty we might otherwise walk by not only in NYC, but in our own lives. So thanks again! I look forward to your videos every time! :)
Synopsis for the hearing impaired... Kids were screaming at him and asking if they were going to make it into the vlog. He said maybe. He enjoys working on Sundays where there is less distractions from the blood suckers, meddlers and time wasters sending emails and calling. One day a week when you can really get work done. Commenting on the Baked sign, said it's funny but unsure of the restaurant. Asked Candace if it was ok if he went to work for a couple of hours. Just going into work for a few hours to catch up on things they didn't get accomplished on Friday. Made small talk and wished him luck on jury duty. Today was the first truly warm day of spring and he's excited to get out on his bike. Going to the west side highway to see his favorite nyc views. He describes his affection for the city as unhealthy from his three cameras. He can't resist taking photos of the city. It's like being around a very attractive lady, you just want to preserve it...or very attractive guy, whatever you're into. Never leave a bicycle unattended in NYC. Battery Park has the best view of The Empire State Building. There's a shot of One World Trade he's been wanting to get for a while. He walks away from his cameras a lot to get shots but never had one stolen. If one were to get stolen today would be the day since they are spread out. Ends his day on the pier by The Intrepid. Says hi to kids and rides their electronic skateboard. It's dark but he can't stop filming because he sees so many pretty things... And Happy Easter!
eef fefed Hey there, if you have a iphone it does amazing time lapses. Just did one for a vlog we are doing this week. Sub to our channel and I can teach you how to edit it :)
If casey has a P.O box can I send him a decent lapel/lav mic? the only negative thing about the vlog is the occasional gust of wind causing the audio to sound shoddy
Do you really think if he wanted one he wouldn't just buy it himself? Vlogs are supposed to be a little raw; that's kind of the point in him doing this.
10/21/2016 #10EpisodesADay!!! 2nd one today! I love the Determination he has. Walking around with 3-4 cameras just to provide great content. Case is dope!
Oh man - in my experience Sunday is the day everyone who is buried gets online and works to try and get caught up before Monday (is that procrastinating?). So even if I work on Saturday, on Monday morning I'll have a slew of emails from Sunday night.
I live in a smaller town in Oregon... We have some really beautiful areas, but of the opposite end of the spectrum. lots of rolling green hills and some mountain ranges. I also love riding my bike on a warm spring day, but on back country roads. This video makes me wanna do the same thing with my camera, but in the beauty where i live.. hmm.. i might.
It seems like the standard for vlogs is really low. A few establishing shots and people lose their minds. Casey's films are great, sure, but people are way too impressed. Maybe it's because I've never watched vlogs before and don't know what to expect. Or maybe I'm just used to Casey's style and expect nothing less.
Considering that the origin of vlogs was people sitting in their living rooms and talking about their day, I think Casey is doing a really great job. Most vloggers these days just stick a camera in their face all the time and those establishing shots and positioning the camera instead of holding it make the small but important difference (to me at least).
AltShiftSpam The vlogs today consist of, 1. A 16-17 year old teen 2. Fairly rich with things to show off 3. 90% never gets out of the room 4. When he/she gets out of the room, goes out to party with more rich friends 5. Does stupid and trending challenges.. Moral: Casey is doing RU-vid a very big favour by changing it up.. Not saying there are vloggers who don't do similar stuff as Casey but very minimal with very low viewers count as compared to the teens mentioned above.. DISCLAIMER: Fangirls and fanboys may get hurt.. This does not include everyone, just a general opinion on my part..
He does work with the media lab at MIT. He did a snapchat on it. you'll see the space he works in there and a couple of collaborators. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R4DaGI50f5I.html
I look forward to these everyday :) Great Work Casey! Been a big fan for a long time glad to see your awesome vids everyday now! makes me happy :D keep up the great work!
I love these vlogs Casey! You put so much effort into your videos, using 5 camera, setting up tripods and walking psst them. I really like your style, I love filming my day too! Great job and happy Easter to you too!
Any large city with this many people is going to have it's share of problems. It's very fast paced and you must keep up or get run over, but it's also a world unto itself with wonderful things to offer and great things to see. You should visit :-)
CaseyNeistat How do you store all of that footage on all those different camera. I'm really curious to see you labeling system when you upload them to storage. Do you go though every single video from each camera and label them individually? I would imagine if you just uploaded them all from the cameras without naming each one would make it very difficult to find videos when you want to. What's your video storage and labeling system. I think that would make really good short film. From one artist to another... quality work man.
Casey I just started my first official daily vlog on Easter. You've inspired me to give it a shot. I'm in the video production business, but vlogging is so much different. PS: I did give you a shout out and I used a bit of your style, an homage to your vlogs.
"It's the one day of the week where the blood suckers, the meddlers and time wasters aren't in their offices emailing and calling you, wasting your time." -Brilliant
I am glad that you can not resist taking pictures of your great city. Because I enjoy seeing those pictures. I enjoy them so much. Keep showing us your attractive lady New York & Liberty. Do people still go up inside the State of Liberty to the top of her? I like the "INTREPID" Aircraft Carrier. COOL. & thanks for showing us it. & WOW all those colours on The Empire State Building. So beautiful. Do people still go to the top of it? I been to the top of St.Pauls Cathedral. Once when I was about 13 with Dad. & Once with my son when he was about 8. Awesome views at the top. A bit scary on the narrow top. Safe though. You go up above the dome.
Hey Casey! I wanted to congrad you for your daily Vlog! I'm following your work since almost a year now and watched most of what you have done! The daily Vlog really show a intuitive talent and your love for New York and Storytelling! Wow!! You're a modern filmmaker, The new Wave!! Thx sharing your philosophy with us!
