Holden 355 stroker, before & after exhaust note

as the title says, just had a warm 355 built, as well as changing from factory headers into a single 2.5" system, over to pacemaker tri-y's into a twin 2.5" system
this is the before and after...

Had a 308 and two 304's, always wanted a stroker but ended up getting an L98 which I love of course but still the coolest engine ever in my books is the stroker. You watch and the first turn of the century muscle cars to get collectible won't be Clubbys with LS engines, they're a dime a dozen, it'll be the strokers. It sucks that they have dizzys but It's 10 out of 10 just for the all-Australian factor plus they're so strong. Three coolest, most Australian engines are the stroker, the 304 and the Ford turbo 6.

Just run the hall affects sensor on the dizzy to run LS coils with an aftermarket computer problem solved :) A lot of tech that the 5.0s could have been improved on which was even standard tech on the Gen3 ls.

Just curious man what did it cost for the stroker upgrade and did you have to do fuel pump and injectors aswell

Gear box or diff wine? Haha tough man love the note. Should make her a heaps better cruiser with that torque increase at low rpm

sadly i do not.... did plenty more work to it after this too, built auto with 3k stall, 3.45 lsd, etc etc, butthe shell itself was getting old, needed new bushes through out, rack was gone, and it developed a starting issue, i had to make the choice on throwing more money at it, or parting with it, i ended up swapping it with a mate for his '75 Centura, with a 400hp 360ci and built 727... at least pouring more money into that will see some kind of return on investment.... lol it's damn cool! theres a video of it in here in my other vids....

@@LunchboxDOTinc awesome man. Gotta love the old holdens though. Especially since they closed. Im a holden man myself but ill check out your other vids. You ever though of just taking the motor and driveline out? Would be easy to chuck into something else! I have a ve ss ute with a LS L77. But ive just sold it. I have a HJ one tonner for my daily now. Its got a 253 but im dropping a reco built 308 with a mild cam into it. But was unsure if I wanted to go with the 355 stroker as a daily work ute. Ill check out ya other vid. Awesome mate.

​@@joeltatianae8846 for a while there i was planning to pull the running gear and put it into something else, i had a HG for a while and always wanted to build another, but with the centura offer happened, it was too good to pass up.... for a daily driver, the 355 was amazing, more torque than i knew what to do with, fast enough to scare a few more modern cars, while still being tame enough to just enjoy, the whole idea behind the build was to make it as friendly as i could for a daily.... i'd happily build another any day! it's hard to beat an LS swap these days, cheap, easy, and great performance, but i'd happily build another 355 any day of the week, actually if i were going down that path, it'd be a 383 with how good the 355 was, i'd happily spend the extra for a few more cubes ontop of that....

@@LunchboxDOTinc yeah cool man. Well considering I have a 74 tonner i just wanna keep it oldschool. And yeah the ls1 will kill it. But im even thinking mild 308 cam aswell? Im unsure as its a daily driven work ute!

Highstakes187 yeah diff was pretty average even before the engine build, but was pretty bad here, auto was also slipping pretty bad, both were replaced with built items, uprated 4l60e from RVO with a 3k stall, and a brand new 3.45 lsd, made a huge difference, was MUCH more fun then, while still being an alright daily, ended up getting rid of it all and got a KB Chrysler Centura with a built 360ci/727 to replace it....

small cam. C.O.M.E. cams were notorious for breaking the cam pin, suggestion is for a Crane instead.

very small, it is a crane H276 from memory, this car is long gone now, but was plenty of fun for street duties, was never meant to be a wild motor, the original engine was tired, i'd done 70,00km, often towing my other cars in the last few years, rings were sad and had a bit of blowby, so it had to come apart anyways, while it was apart we slotted in a stroker crank from SCAT, a set of hypatecs, mild head work, injectors and a tune, made 180rwkw with a slipping auto on the same dyno that it made 102rwkw before the engine build, so a nice increase over what was there, and then later made a little over 200rwkw on another dyno when the Auto was built, but inconsistency's between dyno's could be the reason there... it was basically a warm HSV 220i without the HSV lol

+Lunchbox understood. I have a C.O.M.E 355 stroker with a 596 cam, twin throttle body, match ported heads backed by a T4 stage 2 in a VN Group A SS. Cam was originally a C.O.M.E 596(lumpy). Recent rebuild was through Addicted Performance in Hallam Victoria, they suggested a Crane cam with matching lobe size giving 265rwkw and 604NM torque. Torque figure is a little unreliable due to the T4, but it won't hold grip anyway. Next step is a V3 si Vortech supercharger. Once completed I plan to upload a video.

@shane marz Unfortunately there has been a hold on any more modifications to my car. My wife and I are dealing with a terminal cancer issue to her liver, a transplant is our only hope. Although I do still have the finances to do the upgrade I am unwilling and uninterested in the car at this time.

@@jerrysorensen7254 i mean you are, but thats okay, we all have shit days and make ourselves feel better by ripping on other peoples stuff, it's all good... this vid was with the stock auto behind it, and frankly it was slow, you can hear the auto slipping and flaring between shifts really hard, about a week later it ate the auto pretty bad lol i had a new auto built, 3500rpm stall, and new 3:45's in the rear and it was a whole new car... single 3" vs twin 2.5" is just preference, twin 2.5" flows slightly more, and it's a sound i preferred, and still do... but it's just personal taste, if you like a single 3" then thats up to you

Brendan come back!! i miss you already! and we need to discuss horses! y'know 355 stroker horses, definitely nothing of the equine type horses... because as a professional engine builder, who does this for a living, you'd be completely unfamiliar with the 4 legged variety of horses right? unless you're not a professional engine builder who does this for a living? surely you wouldn't lie to me on the internet where everyone thinks they're anonymous right? right Brendan?
