As a combat medic from the United States military from the second gulf war suffering with deep survivors guilt. This song resonates with me on a fundamental level. After watching so many young many young men and women die in my arms and ask the question how did I make it out. And it's affected my relationships for so long. When they ask about it I get guarded and, in all honesty, cruel. To hear someone yell at the top of their lungs what I want to feel is aspirational. I've abused substances, I've abused people, and I've abused myself. But this it gives a reason to actually engage in the therapy I've been in for years, but never had the courage to open up to. This is a turning point. This is a celebration song.

"God knows I've more than paid my dues, for all the months that I didn't wanna live through." Now that is one of the best lines I've ever heard.

Dude, I was at the Electric Callboy concert yesterday in cologne and Holding Absence together with Future palace were openers. Never heard of those guys before but when they played this song I got instant goosebumps and they immediately won me over. This track is nuts

The singles did not do this record justice holy shit and that's saying something because those were still fantastic. Also they handled the themes and messages on this album so professionally and mature that I don't think any other band could've pulled this off.

when i left my grippy sock vacation, i made it my goal to listen to this song and believe in the words. whenever i listened, i would break down in tears because i didn't believe in it. now a year later it breathes life into my chest when i need it. I can smile now because i'm alive. ❤

Holy shit, this song makes me cry whenever I am sad

This song never fails to elicit an emotional response from me. This time around, I started crying during the intro 😅 I think part of why this song means so much to me is because there are so many times I've thought about 'ending it all,' and there have been more times than I think most people would like to admit, when I've tried to end it all. I just have a lot of trauma and have dealt with quite a bit of anxiety, depression, exhaustion, and struggles because of the trauma.... just like Lucas says, "I've been so hurt for so long." There are so many times that I truly thought that that's what I wanted, was to not be alive anymore. The first time I finally felt differently, it was such a breath of fresh air. That's not to say that I don't have tough days anymore, because I still struggle everyday. But daily, I also try to remember to stay grateful and to remind myself that "I'M ALIVE!" and how much of a gift that truly is. I feel this song on so many levels and it's honestly (and it always will be) one of the greatest, most beautiful songs that I've ever heard (and will ever hear). Thank you Lucas, Ashley, Benjamin, and Scott for this song / for playing it, when you do!! It is such a life-changing gift.

Just saw them open for Senses Fail a few months ago. Before then I had never heard of Holding Absence...I have missed out on years of amazing music. Sometimes you find amazing openers and this is one of them. I have had them on repeat since I watched them and now my kids are singing to them. Amazing music! Feels like every song has such a deep meaning and can relate to something that is going on or has happened in your life. Thank you Holding Absence!!!

Literally had to sign in to say a mate of mine said "check these guys out i think they are your sound" , btw im almost 40, i was around before emo became emo, i loved Emo core and screemo, these guys have such a good sound , Drummer, Vocalist , bass player, Guitarist, i wish i was 22 again and these guys where around in 2005.
