@@kiowa4440 you're copy/paste reply is cool and all but dirty cops wouldn't be inviting their victims to file civil suits if they knew they would have to pay settlements personally instead of taxpayers.
Absolutely! Had the representative from DCF just barged in and the cops came, that person would most likely have been arrested and charged with home invasion. This ID10T was armed when he did it so he should be charged with armed home invasion. But no, he's a cop, he did 6 months of academy training so we'll protect him as hard as we can. The covering up of these bad cops makes it harder on all good cops and is exactly why no one respects any of them anymore. Criminals are rampant in their ranks.
Qualified immunity protects public employees from civil liability. Law enforcement corruption protects law enforcement personnel from criminal accountability.
I heard that! Loud and clear. Lawful self-defense too. Canno breach that door without a warrant like that all violent like a criminal because that's what he is.
@jamiemarquiss6065 more than likely, if you survived the initial fight. They wouldn't allow one to survive, but yeah, that's self-defense or defense of property.

Never unlock or open your door for the police. Never go outside your house to "talk" to them. Remain silent except to say, "get off my property you are trespassed."
Ending qualified immunity is useless unless we also prohibit indemnification. Ending qualified immunity will just make it easier to sue in civil court, but what good is that if the city/town always indemnifies them anyway?
If I were an officer that had to constantly worry about my good faith efforts resulting in jail/prison or a lawsuit, I would think twice before risking my life or endangering myself to get a violent criminal off the street, narcan a drug overdose, risk breaking ribs giving someone cpr…. There are bad actors in every single profession. Officers aren’t paid an exorbitant salary that could justify the danger/risk. I absolutely think those that abuse their power should be punished but I can’t even fathom how many criminals would file Lawsuits anytime they were arrested.
It is. But who enforces that law. The same cops who did the crime. IMAGINE being able to investigate yourself. You would find yourself innocent everyti.e.

END QUALIFIED IMMUNITY. TAKE SETTLEMENTS AND COURT FINES/SENTENCES OUT OF POLICE PENSIONS AND NOT THE TAXPAYERS MONEY. Watch how quickly the police change.
Great job, news team LEX 18… I first saw your story yesterday after it’d been posted onto one of my favorite cop-watch channels, now I got. to the original one… Y’all did important work. Much respect! ❤️ from NM
Totally agree - this is such a Constitutional violation that a suit under Title 18 1983 (and possibly others, like conspiracy) can be granted attorney's fees as well as the settlement for the violated.
When cops lose lawsuits for violation of the law and violation of civil rights, both of which they are sworn to uphold. They should be held liable for both the settlement and their attorney fees! This is a violation of the office. It's NOT the taxpayers' fault that they are corrupt. It's their fault and their departments fault! Make them pay, not us!
Coincidentally, the bully in high school who stole my gloves with his gang backing him up and a vicious smirk on his face went on to become a deputy sheriff.
They're the same everywhere across the globe. Their role is to suppress the populace for the ruling class. In this role they are enabled with near complete immunity from accountability, while being fed the poor to keep their bulldog scenes keen.
The best advice is NEVER ANSWER YOUR DOOR...if the police are there, talk through the door or window..if they are there for you, and have a warrant, they will not knock anyways..NEVER ANSWER YOUR DOOR
This isn't an issue of one bad cop! This is an issue of a corrupt Frankfort police department that not only refused to investigate him, but actually promoted him!!

@@dabadore. Then every cop needs to also be held to a higher degree than citizens. If a citizen just gets a few months for the crime, the cop gets a year. Make their punishment more severe and they may start to get a clue.
@@jasoninman9824 No good apples when the orchard is rotten. If the so-called good apples upheld their sworn oaths, they would be putting one of their own in handcuffs every single day. The public is tired of footing the bill for the rights violations of corrupt officers and the so-called good apples who passively allow them to do it. Yes, I know that standing up to bad cops is basically career suicide, but given that the orchard is indeed rotten, perhaps they should seek employment in more noble professions. I don't see anyway for the police to regain any of their trust with the community, short of a complete wrecking ball to the entire institution of policing. The unaccountability is exactly what the departments, the police unions and the municipalities who employ them want from them. Their continual actions always speak louder than any of the words and promises of reform they make to the contrary.
Any cop that gets officer of the year better have saved a baby, or rescued orphans from a fire. Something other than a list of allegations and substantiations of misconduct.
The officer should be jailed for civil rights violation, and aggravated burglary for pushing into the house. For the money he should be charged for felony extortion.
That is the problem. An officer can enter your home without a warrant. You can file a lawsuit, but they have qualified immunity. So no one's winning here.
Mississippi Judge Carlton Reeves has put forth an opinion on qualified immunity. He stated that qualified immunity was an invention of the Supreme Court in 1967, and did not follow the proper channels of going through congress and senate therefore it is unconstitutional. Where it goes from here, I don't know. Hopefully they are working to have it overturned.
Yes, but respond by treating it as su h and you'll risk being killed by the other officers. Even when they're doing wrong they all think they're justified. They get used to citizens just bending over and submitting to them
This guy needs to take a hint that law enforcement isn’t for him. He didn’t do it for the safety of the people he wants to bully people without consequences
But...but...but these are Highly Trained Professionals !!! In my state it takes 560 hours of training at the police academy to become a cop and it takes 1,500 hours of training at a beauty academy to get a license to cut hair. Let that sink in.
Imagine how this abuser might treat his family behind closed doors.. after all, as he's so willing to abuse his position, who or what else is he willing to abuse? Further, have you ever looked into the studies about law enforcement personnel and perpetration of domestic violence?
Its called qualified immunity. He knew he wouldnt pay out of pocket, so why should he worry about it. The guy from the other county should sue, because the cop was not working in his capacity of law enforcement which means no qualified immunity

@@jondoe406 it's my reply I just copy and paste it cuz I'm tired of people parroting the unqualified immunity thing without fully understanding it and I know the shadow people will let that through. Look I'm not a fan of cops but they shouldn't be open all lawsuits if you're running away and you get hurt that's on you. If they were actually prosecuted for their crimes they wouldn't be doing it as often. They removed qualified immunity in Colorado but cops are only responsible for up to $25000 and from what I've heard it's not really stopping them. Charge them for assault kidnapping etc they may mind their manners.
@@jondoe406 and also I like how people are always the taxpayers the taxpayers and nobody really cares about the billion sent to Ukraine and other foreign interests. @@shanghunter7697- They LIE about having warrants and BLOCK Ring cameras with their hands. Make SURE you SEE a warrant [have them e-mail / text it to you, or hold it up to the camera or screen door, so you can see the name (if it's an arrest warrant) or address to ensure it's for you, and make sure it's signed & dated by a JUDGE]!
Not enough manpower, resources, and less funding allows people like this to get through the recruitment process because they can't afford to be too fussy! This is the big problem!
They just did in Arizona and the police union is trying to discredit the investigation that found years of civil rights violations and criminal behavior by the cops.
A couple years ago we just got rid of a cop like this in Pinal County that have gone from six different agencies before he was fired and arrested for assault.
The other officer "felt" uncomfortable, but not enough to arrest the officer trying to extort the boat repair guy. Take note people, they protect each other even when one is committing crimes in their presence. There's a video of cops raiding a home, with a cop who's clearly tripping on some high potency drugs and not one of 5 cops wants to acknowledge it. It's called a pattern of practice, and it's been built into their toxic sub culture. The solution is easy, elected officials need to start being removed for allowing attorney generals and district attorneys to not prosecute title 18 section 242, then start removing prosecutors who fail to charge police in criminal matters. Then go after the individual departments. Elected officials also need to add legislation that removes qualified immunity, and criminalized unionization of government jobs. Then these cops will start following the law. It's only once their legal protections are removed will any incentive to improve begin, body cameras have only made the issue more viewable. Chiefs still aren't firing bad cops, prosecutors aren't charging, the FBI isn't investigating, attorney generals don't care, and it starts from the top down.
As a retired peace officer and former instructor, I can say that proper training is the biggest part of the problem. The other is the quality of recruitment. These agencies have a culture that is based in the past. The country needs a minimum requirement for both recruiting and training. Honesty is everything, and my first comment was NEVER do ANYTHING you'd be embarrassed to tell a Judge.
They won't comment due to ongoing litigation, but when it's over, they still don't answer questions. And if they do at all, it's just copslaining, half-truths, and shifting blame.
The cop said “file a civil lawsuit”. The DA should file criminal charges for assault, battery, kidnapping, breaking and entering, and probably many more charges.
