Hello Guys From Mark In Kentucky. I only recently discovered both of your RU-vid channels and watched this video with great interest. I have a 90 Ford F-150 with a 4.9 liter Inline 6 or 300 as I have always called those engines. This truck has a E4OD transmission that has been giving me problems in which I have chosen to drive until it quits pulling rather than fool with the local transmission shop who made it pretty much clear that they don’t like Fords. I was kind of curious if any of you had any bad or good experience with any of the transmission vendors from off of eBay. Im looking forward to seeing the progress with the 4wd that you guys pulled the transmission out of being that I used to run square body Chevrolet trucks and still have my wrecked 79 Chevrolet 2wd 3/4 ton truck that had a 350 4 bolt main engine with a Turbo 400 transmission. I wanted to let both of you know that I have subscribed to both of your RU-vid channels and that I retired from a state government equipment repair facility as a welder/fabricator and can’t move out of a garage setting (LOL).
@@TheIronDuke502 I personally have never bought a major component like a transmission from Ebay. But that's not to say it wouldn't be fine. Would have a good warranty I'm sure. Just read all the reviews and choose the best one 👍
Hey 👋 Jay . New subscriber from PBG Mr. Dalton sent us over for the , Holy goat TH400 rebuilt & diagnostics Gotta thank Tony for his expertise on this rebuilt I don't mind the awkward camera angles Jay . I'll respect Tony's privacy . This was a great 👍 video of that teardown . That transmission is literally , Bullet proof !! I'm looking forward to your 304 AMC javelin build 😀
Hey Irish, watching now. I always liked a Turbo 400. Who ever started tearing the transmission down stopped because they did not know how to tear it down. Did not know about the center bolt. Nice of your friend to help out. He knows his business. The transmission is a good core, that's great. Thanks for sharing.. Take care, Ed.
@@IrishOutlawGarage Yeah, that's what it sounds like to me. Did he LITERALLY dump the tranny in the trash?! I really hope he got a talking-to for that.
Great video 👍I am 65 and remember watching mechanics tear these down and rebuild them at my dads Auto Parts/Transmission business NEVER saw one that dirty
I’m new to the channel. Watched you Dalton workin on the silver dollar Chevy. Ive been fascinated with all things HOLY GOAT. This is cool. Thanks , I’ll be tuning in.
And that's why I have enlisted the help of a guy who knows what's up with engine building to help me out with the stuff that I don't know! Good stuff Jay!
Jay I love you and Dalton Try not to miss either one of you. and as I said on PBG earlier you and him need to work togather as much as possible make for a great show.
That tombstone welder took me back to the 70's in my shop class. The hookah reminded me of four finger bags for $30, so I heard. The edit was to clean up spelling.
This is my first vid of yours and im hooked great job cant wait to binge watch your vids. Its amazing what you can learn on youtube these days you guys makes learning mechanics fun.
Tony knows his stuff. Me? I'd be scratching my head, holding every last little part up to the light for a better look, dropping things while doing it, and wondering when I was done how it all went back together. I'd also have to start with a totally empty workbench or I'd be trying to add things to the tranny that didn't come FROM the tranny. Not to mention I'd be taking FOREVER as I went to retrieve each tool, sometimes coming back with something that doesn't work...
These are the videos I like to watch. It brings back a lot of memories helping my step dad, and grandpa putting engines in old trucks. I learned a lot from them. The new vehicles are boring. I subscribed almost immediately!
Irish, somehow let "Tony" know that people watching appreciate folks like him for helping folks like us, He is a hell of a guy to take on that trans and help bring it back to life, the teaming of the 2 channels is also pretty damn cool to see!
Hey man, this was my first time watching and very interesting, been subbed to Pole barn for a while but anyway I really enjoyed your show and will be tuned in again 👍👍👍👍👍✅✅✅✅✅
I just saw you on Pole Barn Garage and you guys did a great job on the truck so i had to come check out your channel and I just subscribed to your channel and can;t wait to see what you work on next.
i think that shop pole barn went to probably don't like to mess with old stuff they probably only work on these newer electronic trannys but any older guy like me knows how good a turbo 400 is. Glad tony's going to fix it up
I had a 1974 Chevy Spirit of America Impala back in the mid 1980's. My Dad and I dropped a 1972 Oldsmobile 455 engine 400 turbo trans 3:73 rearend in it ..That Ole Car would Run ..That ole Tranny took a beating and kept a going
It was definitely nasty inside, nobody will argue that, but it's totally rebuildable as long as the case is good, and it appears that the case is just fine. Clean out the case really good, replace a fair amount of what goes inside it, then rebuild it and put it back where it belongs in the holey goat.
Were was that car run in the dust bowl. That trans pan & valve body looked like a clay bake. Amazing you guys got that rebuilt, good to see. Just found your channel. Hugh Mc. Chicago metro.
followed here from pole barn garage. Saw Tony and some of your other videos and realized your local, if you ever need a hand with something let me know
