Holidog Express at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari in Santa Claus, IN.
Deemed Santa Claus Land’s first major ride, The Santa Claus Railroad, also known as the Freedom Train, opened in 1946. The miniature steam train was built by Ted Buehn and featured a passenger car designed for children, and a second for adults. The original train ride took a “Trip Around the World'' with miniature replicas of famous landmarks. Figures and vignettes from the park’s Enchanted Trail were incorporated in the 1950’s, renaming the ride to Fairyland Railroad and then Mother Goose Land Train. The miniature steam train was retired in 2012, and the following season in 2013, a C.P. Huntington engine from Chance Rides took its place. The ride is now called Holidog Express. NAPHA recognizes Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari for still offering the family favorite train ride through the timeless Mother Goose Land.
