this is so deeply heartening - am reading the Holistic Management book by Allan Savory (with Judy Butterfield), right now - it should be required reading in every school!
I know Mr Savory did not invent this concept, Mr Voisin did 60 years ago but I believe once more people learn of this, Mr Savory will be like a Messiah to the ranching community. This concept will save us all.
Mr. Voisin invented it for coastal France, one of the world's constant grass growth regions. Mr. Savory saw how to make it work in areas with long baked-dry seasons of no grass. I have both their books. They are widely different. Both contributions deserve gratitude.

Regenerative Agriculture contains the complete prescription for pastoral care of this planet. Re-energising non-productive land, esp. the deserts is a gift to ourselves and provides a framework for dealing with the Milankovitch cycles' worst threats. Perhaps only by volatising the water cycles; i.e. increased water sequestration creates lower pressure for more evaporation. The mind boggles.
because it takes commitment and ongoing deep observation as well as letting go of paradigms that people have held all their life... You cannot just pop a few cows out on a paddock and hope to pull in profit - you must constantly check what is happening in that paddock, often on a daily basis... while not 'hard work' it is work and it takes commitment... As many researchers who explore this very question say: it is the square foot between the ears that is the hindrance to change.
