You two are traveling the trip of a lifetime. How exciting. Your videos are so fun to watch. The Indian cuisine menu sounds awesome. Deck 6 sounds like fun and exercise at the same time. Appears that the service is very good in all aspects. Great video. Thank you for sharing!
Wow what a fantastic comment thank you, the ship is very nice and good value! We do enjoy walking on deck 6 closer to the ocean. Thanks for watching and supporting us.
Some great tips in there and you guys are just a pleasure to watch. Can see that it's is a true passion for you and how you wanna share it with everybody and that's what makes it so infectious, in a good way lol. Great job once again
Congrats on the 1,000 Subscribers ... you two are rocking it!!! Loved all the tidbits and tips, the breakfast in bed, but most importantly ... the COLD BEER!!! Life is Good ... Safe Travels!!!
Thanks Jimmy and Andy we never thought we would get 1K subs, this is our home movie channel so we can relive our trips! So glad we have met you and other great RU-vidrs! Safe Travels and we are looking forward to your videos too.
These are amazing tips. We didn't know about most of these. The last time we were on one to Alaska, no one joined the spa for $100 each. No one else joined on the whole boat. So we had scented showers, had a hot tub, and heated rock beds with an unblocked view (semi-privately,). We only saw one other couple there one day once. They bought a day pass. Thank you for sharing these. It makes us want to take another cruise right now. We are a new friend here from @BluWave Odyssey
Thanks for watching and welcome to our channel , the spa deal sounded awesome I guess if no one else joins it’s total paradise 👍money well spent. Hope you have a great weekend and keep connected Cheers 👍🍷🍺
Lovely video. Now that's what a retirement life is all about, to make us all jealous haha. Cruise is a must thing to do for sure it seems. Loved to hear about the Secret Menu yaya. Lovely video folks. Happy to see you guys sail and share your journey with us! This Indian born, New Zealand citizen is watching it from Auckland city in New Zealand. Keep up the great work and keep uploading such nice videos.
Auckland is a beautiful city we only had one and a half days to explore it before getting on a cruise ship, we would love to go back and explore over land. Thank you for a great comment and watching.
You have to have cold white wine! Breakfast brought to the room stops us over eating at the breakfast buffet. Thanks for watching and have a great day. 👍🍷🍺🛳
Great tips, guys!! I love the lecture with live orchestra idea. Wow. Only problem is that now I want a glass of wine before I watch your next one ... :)
I know this video is from a year ago but just happened upon your channel and wanted to hear your list. Very good secret tips! Probably might be a bit different after Covid. All the best to you.
Thanks for the secret tips of Holland America Cruise line! This time the sound was very low. I had to crank up the volume with more than dubble compared to normal to be able to hear what you said. Thanks for sharing and have a good Saturday!
I noticed that too Bertil, I think what was going on, the wind was so strong that the dead cat wind muff was able to keep the wind noise to a minimum, but the sound was being clipped by the cameras preamps. Also I'm learning that this mini shotgun mic a full arms length doesn't work as well as when it is at half arms length. On my latest video "Halifax", I did spend some time on the audio track increasing the volume where I saw audio graph was lower, trying to give a consistent level of volume. I really appreciate your comments it does help me as sometimes I forget about the fine details. If you get a chance let me know does the Halifax video sound track seem better? Have a great weekend.
@@ThisIsOurRetirement Thanks! I'll let you know when I've looked at the Halifax video. I'm behind and have just looked at St Johns. Sound is the most tricky part and the best result is to add the speaker voice afterwards when you can be in a room free from wind noice and other disturbances.
Félicitations pour avoir atteint vos 1000 abonnés ! 🥂🍾 Congratulations for your 1000 subscribers ! 🥂🍾 You deserve it because you work hard . Another good informative vlog , you are quiet good at it 👍 Have a nice week my friends Hélène et Serge 💑 👍😉🏔🎥

Wow this was really cool sounds like a amazing cruise ty sharing your perspective great information sledgehammered that like button shared this out and a enjoyed watch looking forward to the next one ty for the tips and tricks
It took us a while to work out some of these things on HAL, so wanted to share them with future passengers, thanks so much for stopping by and supporting us, means a lot to us!
Thanks for the tips! We have cruised with HAL a number of times and we love it. Morning breakfast room service is a big Yes - with mimosas! Didn't know about the large coffee carafe, though, we will ask for that. Also, just FYI, the newer ships (Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam) do have full promenade decks. Somehow rumors got started that you could only walk one side, or that you would have to go inside and back out again, but that's not correct. The deck does get narrow at the fore and aft portions, but they do go all the way around, all outdoors in the fresh air. We're leaving soon, January 25, for two weeks in the Caribbean aboard the Zuiderdam. Enjoy your cruises!
Have a great cruise and thanks for the information, we have sailed on the Koningsdam. Glad you found the carafe useful! Nothing like enough coffee in the morning. Thanks so much for watching.
Thank you, it's difficult to figure out all that's available to you on a cruise ship so we thought a few tips might help. Thanks for watching we appreciate it.
Yes it quickly started to become a maths problem! The other theory of course the more you drink the less bothered you become about costs! 🤪 thanks Dave for watching.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed your cruise, we have been on a cruise on the Pacific side of Mexico. Indian food is great on a cruise ship to give a bit of variety to the cuisine and we love Indian food!!
Great idea. Love your video and the fact the you moved around so we could see the ship and the views. I went on the Koningsdam earlier this year. It does have the promenade plus a small dedicated walking track upstairs. Happy hour was kind of tricky, I order a beer and yes got two, but at the same time...I'm a slow drinker!
Thanks for watching, we realize a single take video can get boring! We went on the Koningsdam too, we found it a little large for us. Agree happy hour is tricky, so I order two beers and ask for one of them to be unopened, so like you just enjoy one then drink the other one at later time. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave a great comment.
It is amazing and all credit to Holland America for making this available to their passengers. We were on a HAL cruise where the Producer and some camera people from BBC Bristol Blue Planet were onboard for the whole trip giving daily presentations, and gave us a sneak peak at future films and behind the scenes footage which was fantastic, along with Q & A's
I'm interested in going on Holland but I'm concerned that I might get bored after I rejuvenate after the first couple of days. I feel like it's an older crowd and the activities might be mundane after a few days. Any feedback on this? I love the idea of the cooking classes and demonstrations but other than that I don't know that the rest of the events will appeal to me.
It's a two edged sword, yes an older crowd but very few children, so more relaxing but yes the activities are lower key less energetic. We like HAL for the smaller ships, the ports they visit some are unusual, the lectures and Tina likes the afternoon tea. The newer ships Konigsdam and that class of ships are trying to reimagine Holland America to appeal to a younger passenger, more midlife forties to fifty age group. They have a more sophisticated decor and coffee shops etc. But as you hint to, no energetic climbing walls, go kart tracks etc. Holland do have gym classes you can join for organized workouts at a cost and free morning gentle stretching exercises. Microsoft run daily workshops on various computer software and photo editing. They also have a dedicated movie theatre everyday. Hope some of this helps.
I was watching this with friends and they asked a question, which seem stupid at the beginning and thought it over and was a fail question. They asked if these tips could be transferrable to other cruise lines? LOL. LIKE 42 for you my friends. BTW, are you ever home? HAHAHAHA
Yes we are home 🏡 some times but like travelling all the cruise lines have different secret tips the taking wine on board really only works with Holland and America . We think only HAL has Happy Hour 🍷🍺 Cheers
