We vlog the last day and debarkation day on our 7-day Cruise onboard Holland America's newest ship, Rotterdam. We leave Key West and enjoy one last night out having drinks, dinner, BB King Music before packing our suitcases. We wake up and have one last meal on the ship before hitting the airport and heading back to Canada. Thanks everyone for following along!

Thanks for another great video! I was stationed in Key West many years ago, and yes Duval Street did have about two hundred bars, and yes, I did visit them all! On the same subject, we used to participate in maneuvers with the Canadian Navy from time to time, and back then they still had their daily "Rum Ration". We would line up, and for five bucks we'd buy one of the Canadian sailors daily ration. A win-win situation!

That sounds pretty amazing - Jerry's uncle served in the Canadian Navy and talked often of heading south to paint the ships and enjoy the rum! We think doing a few days in Key West would be amazing - not sure that's enough time to crawl thru all the bars though! Thanks for watching !

Great series! Those double dipped french fries are the best. That was a really interesting cabin. We would take it any time. There are no really bad cabins on HAL's relatively new ships. The only times weren't totally thrilled were the older ones: Rotterdam & Ryndam. The rest of the time we were beyond ecstatic with all of their categories. Tell Jerry that my husband Glenn looks like him. Same gray eyes, rectangular glasses, youthful baby face. Glenn has a goatee, but without it, they could be related. So yeah, there IS someone in the world who looks like him.

We’ve learned coping skills for that day. It is technically the first day of the cruise so we want to get the most out of it. Our strategy is to be there early and not wait for luggage to arrive before starting the fun.

Just found you guys and I have to admit that your style of cruising is the closest to what we like. The last day of a cruise is so depressing because, well, it just can't be over yet! Particularly enjoyed the vlog from Key West. We did that in 2017 and decided we needed to go back for more than a day. Now I need to catch up on your other vlogs from Grand Turk, St Thomas, etc. Headed there in January on the Nieuw Statendam.

We loved Rotterdam - Half Moon Bar was a nice spot (and new addition). 10 days will be great. We will in the Caribbean late January. Maybe we’ll be in port with the Rotterdam. Great veggie menu too if you grow tired of the red meat 😉

I have seen all your Vlogs from the Rotterdam It's Great We have just returned from our trip and have also made a cruise on the Rotterdam was perfect Good service and food, it was all good. After a naughty of a few days at Miami South Beach we have flown back to Amsterdam. I have transferred your greetings to Ireen from the Dutch Cafe. It looked like you two had a really good time! I loved following along. I prefer the BB King on the smaller ships with the more intimate nightclub setting than in the big ships where they share the venue with LCS. But the big ships do have the Dutch Cafe so it’s a trade off.

Happy to hear your cabin was quiet and you didn't have any issues with noise from the elevators. Love your "bling haul" Jill, you and I seem to have the same taste, lol. We are almost both recovered completely and looking forward to our future cruises. We'd love to squeeze one in between now and our summer Europe adventure. Jill was pretty proud of her jewelry and the cost - she's always hunting for a bargain!

Loved your Rotterdam series, we'll be on the ship in November and you provided good insight to life onboard and onshore! What advice do you have for people that want to wake up and enjoy a 1st cup of coffee on their balcony? It looks like coffee makers aren't supplied in the staterooms. Thanks, and keep the videos coming!

We tried the (free) room service and Mrs Canuck didn’t enjoy that coffee as much as the dining room. Our advice would be however to head to the Dutch cafe and get a specialty coffee and treat to go and head back to the balcony. Or go to the Explorers Lounge (if you are near the top of the ship) and get a coffee to go from there. Thanks for watching and we hope you have a great cruise. It makes so much sense to us. Sometime we can book for almost half as much. So two balcony cruises becomes four inside cruises. We often just head down the hall/stairs and hang out on the walk around deck if we need to have fresh air.

Love your vlogs. Too bad we’ll have to wait till summer for your next trip. Love the ship, we’ll be sailing in December (Caribbean) the Rotterdam for the first time. Till now only sailed the Nieuw Amsterdam & Eurodam. As Dutchies probably love the Dutch café 😉

Thanks so much! We wish we could be cruising much sooner - we've gotta find a way to get away from our jobs more! We are so excited about our trip to Europe (that includes the Netherlands!) this summer. That's great to hear you will be cruising on the Rotterdam later this year. There are a few differences between it and those ships you've been on. You will likely noticed smaller bathrooms and more of an open concept around the ship. But she's a beautiful ship! Have fun.

We will likely do a video on our upcoming cruises. The short version is that we are cruising the Carnival Pride out of Dover, ENG on July 31 for 12-days along the northern coast of Europe (from Portugal to Netherlands). We then continue on the Pride for 9 more days out of Dover and go north to Scotland and Ireland. We then fly to Rome for a 7-day Mediterranean cruise on NCL Epic before flying home. We then sail the Carnival Miracle in mid-December out of Los Angeles and cruise to Mexico. We then do a Christmas Cruise on the Carnival Panorama out of LA back down to Mexico for 7 days. We then cruise on the Sky Princess out of Florida in late January for a 7-day western Caribbean cruise. LOL That's the short version. We are still looking at maybe booking something early this July and will be booking March 2023 soon. We are still looking at options for cruising in July/August 2023 and then again for Christmas/New Years late 2023/early 2024. This all sounds insane - now that we type it all out. But yes a video will be coming about this!

There are usually two gala nights on a 7 day cruise. Most men where a suit/tie or one or the another. A few men will also wear a full tux. There are a few men that just have a collared shirt - as there's no requirement to where a formal clothes. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

That’s correct. Just during the day. We have snuck up and used the hot tub in the evening - but only after chatting with the cabana staff to see if they were still around.

we are planning our first cruise, Norway fjords, but my wife is extremely carsick. What can she expect on a cruiseship like the Rotterdam?

Any cruise ship has a chance at rolling with the waves and we were fortunate to have very calm seas. Mr Canuck deals with car sickness and tried medicine and patches, but they all made him tired. The best approach is having some strategies in case you feel sea sickness. Have medicine (just in case), choose a cabin near the center of the ship and try to keep ahead of it - if she feels sick. Sometimes fresh air can help. Sometimes the main dining room can be a challenge if there is any motion. Now that we've scared you - all of these modern ships have stabilizers and are designed to minimize motion. We also know people that get car sick and don't feel sea sickness at all. So sometimes it isn't even a concern. Everyone is different and lets hope for calm seas and no issues with any motion.
