I've cruised with Princess Cruises, Disney Cruise Line, Holland America Line and Seabourn. Holland America has the BEST burgers and pizza in my opinion. Overall, food quality I like both Holland America and Seabourn the best. 🤙🏻
The Cannonball at the Dive In was my favorite, smoked gouda and Applewood bacon on the burger. I liked to get the fries plain with the little containers of several sauces. Not usually a French fry person but these were good.
We are considering Holland America for a Transcontinental cruise and we are big foodes. We really appreciate your vids. Thank you so much. Drooling a little here..ok alot:)
My favourite grilled chicken sandwich is chicken topped with a slice of swiss cheese melted, avocado slices and tomato slices on a wholemeal bun! Make them at home! Thank you for sharing your dining experiences!
My first Holland America cruise is just a few days away now. So excited! I’m always happy to try burger and dog opportunities (hence my obesity). All looks good at the Dive In. Except the blue cheese crumbles on the fries. To be blunt, it looks like bird droppings. Deli: Menu looks great. Ruben sandwich was skimpy. To see what a Pastrami sammich should look like check out New York’s Katz Deli. Though the gelato looked amazing, I’ll just stick to the complimentary ice cream elsewhere aboard. Thanks for the (as always) thorough coverage.
Ask for extra meat on things from the deli. I would get a bagel with cream cheese and salmon, and the first one barely had any salmon. I don't think they'll give you a 2" or 3" stack of meat, but if you ask for 'extra meat', it should be a normal amount.
@@monkeyb1820 Can you get these included as well as your main dining (ie: have a normal lunch, if still peckish have this before dinner) or charged extra at that point? :)
@@caolkyle NYDP (and dive-in) are no extra cost. I think that on the pinnacle class ships it is 'NY deli and pizza' and on their other ships it is just 'NY Pizza' (but you can likely get the same sandwiches at the lido buffet. Holland America has a good variety of no-extra-charge foods.
@@monkeyb1820 sorry I meant can you nibble here AND the main dining or if you scan room card or whatever it’ll say you’ve already had that days lunch for example so second option would be paid? :) (looking to book first cruise for next March)
As usual, another great video. I was on the December 2022 Konigsdam sailing. I thought that the Dive-in Cafe was probably the best fast food venues on a cruise ship. We ate three meals there and the food was well prepared. The only problem with the place is that they assemble the orders in an area where anyone can come up and grab someone else's food. We found the NY Pizza Deli to be a major disappointment, especially late at night. A lot of the food was prepared in advance and was not fresh. And when they ran out of salads, they were out for the rest of the night. RCCL's Sorrento's Pizza is just so much better thought out in terms of set up and performance.
Thank you so much! 😊 Definitely agree with your assessment of the pros & cons of HAL vs RCCL's pizza cafe. HAL's pizza was better, especially the toppings, but you have to wait and can't just grab a couple of slices like Sorrentos. And you've just brought back some fond memories we have of the Dive-In cafe 😋
I had a veggie burger at the dive-in and it was good. They were happy to bring it to me in the room next door where the buffet was and I was eating with my group. Thanks for this info, good to know about the NY Pizza Deli that wasn't there on the Noordam, but will be there for my next cruise on the Rotterdam.
Holland America has the best food with excellent service if that’s your priorities then I’d highly recommend the cruise line. Their shows are good too. You’ll have more of a relaxing feel rather then all out party house like Carnival lol so it’s all depends what you’re looking for in your next vacation. I’ve gone with both cruise lines and enjoy them in their own ways. Thanks for sharing this informative and helpful video as always.❤
New subscriber here. Wow, so happy to have "discovered" your channel ~ loving the blend of easy tunes, live video, and still-photos, all seamlessly stitched together ! Thanks so much guys !
Everything looked good! We are thinking about a HAL cruise in December. We kind of got in a rut taking RCL “mega ship” cruises and need a “quiet” cruise after the year we’ve had. 😖 Our very first cruise in 2004 was on The Zuiderdam and we’ve been on Westerdam a few times. Time to revisit HAL! Thanks for posting this video. Now I want a portobello “burger”. 🤣 Glad Joann liked everything (except the sauerkraut).
We're actually feeling like going back to a RCL megaship after these smaller ships, but HAL definitely has it going with the service & food, plus a quieter atmosphere. That portobello burger was one of our favs 😋Thanks so much for the comment! 😊
THANKS AGAIN! I looked at a Holland Food review and right away the loud music, dumb commentary and graphics. I couldn't watch. Then I clicked this one - it's you guys! Nice, calm, and full focus on food. Again thanks!
We were on the Koningsdam this past June and we too loved their burgers and hot dogs at Dive In and pizzas at the New York Deli!,,Thank you for sharing and bringing back the memories. I’ve been on 2 cruises and both on HAL, although I want to try other cruise lines but I read other reviews and majority will say HAL food is better quality and good
Our pleasure! Yeah gotta say HAL excels at food & service. Other cruise lines do have their own advantages too, so definitely try them out as well. Thanks for the comment! 🙂
It has been about 5 years since I was on Holland due to a combination of factors, other vacation types, other cruise companies, pandemic etc. Going on this weekend. Did not know they could do buffalo fries at the Dive In burger place. I do remember getting a burger there and thinking it was pretty good. Not a huge burger fan but thought they were good.
We would order the grand central with extra items. It comes out nice and hot. I did notice when the NY Pizza was super crowded the pizza got a little rushed and the crust was not as crispy. They always do their best to make sure you don't have to wait super long.
Hi and thanks for this video. In the hamburger section you mentioned a burger you got in the Main Dining Room. I heard caramelized onions and bacon jam. Is this something they just offer once or can you get it any day at lunch?
Thanks for the question! They do have that burger every time- their new MDR lunch menu is the same, but yeah like most other cruise lines they only have MDR lunch on sea days. You can checkout our HAL MDR lunch video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-25f7az7UML8.html
My wife Suz and I just love your videos. I have to ask, the outfit you are wearing at the pool (at one point with a towel around you) looks like the same outfit you wore in your MDR dinner video! It looks like a bathing suit in the fast food video and a beautiful dress in the MDR video.... we are SO confused !
I think she’s wearing sport clothes and not swimsuit. looks like she often wears tennis skirts. I believe they play tennis based on what I watched on their Cancun vacay videos. 😊
That's a great question! We have tried Guy's burger's a couple times. It's really good though very greasy. The patties were thinner, but definitely satisfying lol. Dive In is not as heavy-handed, and has some healthier options like the veggie & portobello burgers which we really enjoyed. For fries we do prefer the Dive In more- Guy's fries were kind of soggy, but that's just the way it's intended.
@@TravelTouristVideos A LIFEBOAT?! But it feels like... especially the start of the year.. you have been on 4 cruise ships... 4 already... 5 if we count the odessey.. depending on when you came home....
