Excellent tour! The wife and I will be cruising on the Volendam this May (Quebec to Boston route) and this ship looks like everything we wanted...classy, intimate, and clean!
Great to see a recent tour of Volendam. We enjoy(ed) the smaller Holland ships over the newer ones. She's taking us to Hawaii from San Diego next month. Going to be so very relaxing and stress-free.😀
I was on Volendam in November 2022 and I remember them playing football in Crow's Nest! Agree about the seating on this ship. The seating with the comfy chairs all along deck 5 facing the windows was my favorite feature of this ship and one that I have not found on any other ship I've been on.
And also a big thanks for being ‘camera-Ready’ at 5:00 a.m. before the crowds! I really doubt that small ship ever feels crowded. While the oldest, it was elegant and spacious and I would sail on her in a 💓!
I was fortunate enough to be able to cruise on the Zaandam last year from Boston to Quebec. It was a lovely relaxing change from the big mega ships (which I also love).
Just got off the Nieuw Statemdam this morning. It was a wonderful experience. I love to see a beautiful smaller ship that is well maintained. Thanks for the tour
I love your video of HAL's ship. I haven't sail on cruise ship since I was on HAL's Maasdam in 2003. Then I got tired of seeing many small cruises ships were gone to Europe and scrapyard. Also I had nice one week cruise trip on HAL's former ship, S.S.Rembrandt on Easter 2000. She used to be S.S. Rotterdam. Now she is floating ship museum and hotel. I miss her. I hope HAL will build new smaller ship with more single cabins. I know three newest ships have 12 single cabins. I hope to have it next time. Thanks for posting video of HAL ship.
We'll be on the Zaandam on an upcoming cruise, so this was helpful to see. I was disappointed to not see the full promenade shown (Deck 3), as that's a feature I'm looking forward to. Thank you for getting up early to make this video!
Thank you for an excellent tour of the classy and elegant Volendam. Once again, it has been proven that the best ships are Dam Ships... And may they always be I might be biased.
Great tour! This summer, we'll be doing the Boston to Montreal on MS Volendam, and we're definitely looking forward to it. A much different experience than the Ottawa to Kingston St. Lawrence Cruise Lines' Canadian Empress, a 70 passenger river cruise ship, we enjoyed last summer, or the Rotterdam to Hull England overnight ferry of about 3 decades ago with our 1 and 5 year old sons (very bouncy on the way back).
@fwb777 , the website seems to lay it out well. It's been ages since I've had a chance to dress up, I plan to. Our first night is our 39th anniversary, and we'll be dining at the Pinnacle Grill. Otherwise, casual (just no shorts or ripped jeans in the main dining room). Remember to pack something for the Orange Party. Hope you have a wonderful time!
Very nice overview. We will be on this ship in two weeks and it was nice to refresh my mind on the small Holland ship. We were on the sister ship Veendam in 2016, but our last 6 cruises were on Pinnacle class ships.
@@fwb777 they did not have a Captains night when I was on the last 7 Holland America cruises I was on including the Volendam a few weeks ago. I usually do not dress fussy. A few times I brought a suit to wear but 50% of most men don’t. If men wear dressier pants and a collared shirt not a polo you should be fine. My wife usually wears something to match that and we are good to go. For a 7 day cruise we usually go with a carryon only and make use of the laundry program. It’s $69.00 for the week and you can send in a bag full each day.
Booked for 42 day cruise November/December 2024 on Volendam. Do the Staterooms on the lower Promenade Deck, Deck 3, have mini fridges in them? Also, the base Internet Package is $499.00 per person for the 42 day cruise. Is it worth it? Does the base Internet work well gor regular cell phone type use, no Ipad or Laptop, just couple cell phones? Is it OK yo bring a small fan, maybe USB powered? Very nice video and learned a lot! Thanks in advance for replying.
It’s just like the Zaandam unfortunately the carpet sucks for people using wheelchairs. Thanks for the show and good luck to everyone in a wheelchair who doesn’t have someone to assist them.
Considering the age of the ship..it was pretty good. Good buffet, good MDR, pinnacle grill specialty dining, Dive in burgers by the pool. Lots of included room service items.
