Holley sniper efi install in one day on a sbc powered Chevelle. Awesome fun and a huge pay off for the amount of work it takes to do this conversion. EFI is so good!
I'm 55 and have not seen 3 guys excided about working on a car like that science I was a teenager. Good job. I have 2 grandsons and a 1969 camaro rs/ss convertible that I cant wait for them to get old enough to want to work on a car like you guys. The 69 is complete but they love to be in the car and that's my plan to get them interested and buy them something to work on and have fun doing it. By the way , please tell me that the Paw Paw is one of you guys real Paw Paw and if so , enjoy every min you have with him.
Thanks for the encouragement🤘🏽 wrenching is awesome and definitely get them started young cause that’s what our dad did. As far as the Paw Paw that’s Blaine the shorter guy. It was a nickname given to him by a mechanic when we worked at a Michelin tire testing facility here in SC.
Glad to see some ole SC boys getting another Beautiful ride on the road better than it was before! I'm in Orangeburg , SC doing sorta the same with a 86 Scottsdale.
You should either notch the dividing Center on the intake about 1 inch or buy a one inch spacer for your throttle body. Might fix some issues for y’all out there
Thanks man! Let us know how it goes! we are putting a carb on our ls for the conquest with an msd box so hopefully that will go as well as the efi did haha
Glens old tank was full of rust and had been patched in years past. He wanted a fresh tank and so he got one with the fuel pump and sending unit already in the rank so all we had to do was hang it and plug it in. Definitely the way we would suggest going. Glad you liked the video man🤘🏽
Great video, it sounded like it bogged pretty bad at 18:11. These stock packages might be better with the 2300 2 barrel instead of 800cfm 4 barrels. Seems like way too much for a stock package. Good work for the timeframe.
@@PawPawsSpeedshop I've got a friend with a stock 65 Mustang he wants to go EFI and I'm concerned about the size. I called Holley and was told Sniper 2 won't bog like a carb. I haven't installed one of these systems yet but it seemed to me a stock 289 geared, automatic, stock exh would have the flat spot you guys confirmed. While the system will keep the fuel metered and suspended in the flow, vac/air flow should be very weak without vac secondaries setup. CI X target RPM divided by 3456. 289X5500/3456 is 459CFM The Sniper 2300 is 580cfm, anyway again good fun video, play safe out there.
I know this is a couple years old . I mentioned a big block!!! Do yourself a favor and do a Ls.. swap! Plus Holley has an intake that you can utilize your sniper!!!
It’s soooo nice to be able to just jump in and have it start immediately in whatever kind of weather. No worry of vapor lock or flooding. The Holley stuff is really the best. I wouldn’t buy any other TB EFI conversion. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. It’s also really nice to see vitals on the touch screen that you don’t normally see with a carb set up. Well worth the time and money.
Yeah our buddy glen got the master kit. But he had to buy extra stuff like the fuel lines and fittings. Not sure if the exact extras he had to buy but the kit comes with almost everything. The big piece is the fuel tank with the fuel pump already in it.
I do not remember what glen ended up running but I do know he was running an HEi style. We would suggest using Holleys efi compatible distributors. Here is the link: www.holley.com/products/ignition/distributors/holley_efi_dual_sync/parts/2375MSD
Nice work fellas , quick question? What type of efi you use and model also I know your tank was Aeromotive tank but which one did you use , trying to find / pair up the same set up
here are the links: www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/fuel_injection/sniper_efi/sniper_4bbl_tbi_kits/parts/550-519 aeromotiveinc.com/product/70-72-chevelle-and-70-monte-carlo/
I would call the guys at Holley before you got anything. They will make sure you get the right stuff for your efi! Its totally worth it, Glen still loves it and has had zero issues with it.
@@PawPawsSpeedshop I have a 383 stroker on my 68 chevelle that makes under 600 hp so if I get a holly for 600hp do I use the tank for 200 lph or the 340 lph
where did you guys find the 12 volts Clean ignition source that will work while cranking and with the key in the run position. was it directly from the wire box
It’s a really great product. It’s so nice to be able to turn the key in whatever kind of weather and just have it start. MPG has definitely increased. As far as power, it’s a stock 350, so power increase isn’t really that noticeable. Our advice if you’re looking at EFI conversions, always buy Holley. It’s the best.
I want to install and EFI on my Chevelle but dread taking it apart and not getting it back up and running for weeks. I guess having the EFI tank makes it less daunting.
The only way our swap went so smoothly was because Glen had planned and had everything in place before we started. The tank with the efi pump already in it was a time saver and honestly is a good idea for a fresh fuel system. Glens tank was full of rust so the new tank was completely necessary
@@bluecollarfox916 sweet! You won’t regret it. We do love our carbs. The elder guru is pretty good with them and the one that is on the conquest runs perfect but efi is the way for now
@@PawPawsSpeedshop 😂 Yo my bad excuse me for being slow I had no idea you really Got a shop I thought you & your crew was skilled as Hell @ this shit. And may I ask what city is your shop located? I'm in Columbia
@@AllStarLeague07 you good man🤘🏼Nah we just work on fun projects here and there when we can. But aren’t to a place where we can do jobs for clients yet. We’re in the upstate of SC
Lowes 2x4s with and a whole bunch of glue, screws and blue paint lol. Our dad built them when we started restoring our 66 Tempest. Super cheap and extremely useful.
@@PawPawsSpeedshop I'm at Classic Pontiac Rescue in Honea Path, we do mainly Firebirds, Trans Am's, and GTO's but if you are in the area stop by the shop
@@bubbaskywalker3129 I'm not sure, most of what we have right now is F body stuff. I'll ask the boss tomorrow when I go to work. Even if we don't have any he may know where to snag some.
