Any idea what year this one is? Mine has two different hammers on it and the one on the right looks like these so assuming it has broken at some point and been replaced.
Sorry Paul, we do not know what year this one was. Most gun shops would have a bunch of old sxs shotguns lying around in the parts bin. Might be worth checking with your local store.
I just traded for one of the I hollis double guns couple weeks ago, its a rifle and shotgun set , but the shotgun barrels are in very poor condition and not useable, black powder cartridge rifle barrel’s-not to bad , the person I got it from said her father brought it back to U.S after ww2
Well I worked in the London gumaking trade and all the barrels were hot blacked, what you have done to that gun is ruined it, the wonky checkering is something an apprentice does before they are let loose on a real gun and the stock finish is dull as dishwasher, did you even seal the grain ? I can only imagine the other horrors you have perpetrated on this poor gun.
As someone who worked in the Industry you must know that you cannot reblue a gun that has soft soldered ribs. Regarding the checkering, this was simply deepened, the outside lines are the original lines. Regarding "ruining" the gun, it came in as a scrap gun worth no more than $100. This gun sold far more that $100. So to claim that it was ruined is not backed up by fact.
