Rule #20 you will attempt to dreamnail every possible thing in the game from person to interactible even benches twice

rule of Hollow knight. when you miss a platform for any reason, you will always dodge any platform in your way down attempting to land on any of them, effectively and super efficiently, cannon balling to the pool of acid at the bottom.

Rule: There is a faster way to get to where you want to go. . .you will find it after you need it.

Rule: You will always make the crossroads infected before starting the flower quest

You will heal two masks and lose both of them instead of healing just one.

no matter how easy a boss is, once you get hit you begin spiraling downwards to defeat

Rule: you will almost always live the longest on 1 hp when fighting bosses but the moment you equip fury of the fallen it now becomes the shortest moment

addition to rule 2, even though geo is worthless it will still always hurt to die twice and lose massive ammounts of it

Rule 11: Every enemy has a pattern, until killing them is actually important. That is the only time their pattern will break and they become an RNG nightmare.

Rule 11: whenever you are fighting a boss, you will miraculously get farther in the fight than you ever have before, only to die and spend the next 6 or 7 tries getting completely creamed by the boss

Another rule: when spike pogoing, you will always miss one and have to do the whole thing over again

Rule 11: During Hornet's fight in Kingdom's Edge, you will almost definitely find yourself obsessing over the spike balls and getting killed trying to get rid of them, either by Hornet stabbing you through your throat while you're trying to get one, or you running into it like a moron instead of hitting it and feeling like you just failed the most simple task in the entire freaking game.

Rule 11: If NKG uses the spike attack when you're in a safe position, you will, without reason, dive face first into the spike attack

one of my personal rules, the more predicatble an attack's tragectory, the more likely I am to jump straight into it

You will always feel a sudden sadness, whether it’s over a character, a place, or even if it’s just randomly sad with no bad thing happening

Man, how nostalgic it is hearing the phrase “getting stomped by Mantis Lord over and over again”. I still remember that feeling when I died, multiple times, got up, and tried again until I won.

Rule 11: bringing a companion charm into fog canyon can only end in disaster

Another law: You will always forget to change your charms before a boss fight the first times.

rule 11: on your first playrough, there's this one really good charm you could have get ages ago, but you missed it, and after you finally found it, you have to spend only the last 20-30% of the game with it yes, I found shape of uun only after defeating the hollow knight and now I'm angry about it

Rule 11: When fighting a boss, your first attempt is always the best one. If you die, it all goes downhill from there. The only times I’ve beat hard bosses is when I came back to them after an hour or so and did it first try.

One of my rules: you WILL forget about every single secret room/breakable wall on your second playthrough. I literally forgot how to save Bretta, and it was only until I watched this video that I remembered how to get to the geo stash in King’s Station.

The law of always saving Zote the first time you meet him and then regretting it for the rest of the plauthroigh.

for number 6, quitting the game and reloading gets you to the last bench you were at, so if you do pause before death, it's best to just do that instead of pressing continue it helps a lot in steel soul

the path of pain taught me the art of the pure focus that the entire soul sanctum put hundreds of lives and hours into

HK rule: one time you learn pogo jump (aka down slash), you will do in any place, even in a normal floor

Hollow knight law for me personally: "oh god i finally defeated soul master" Soul master: "lol."

6:50 well, you always can quit to the menu, load your game again and wake up on your last visited bench.

Rule: The soul you "saved" by not using spells to kill an enemy faster will be spent on healing yourself because you took a bullshit hit to the face.

Law 11: You will try to heal at a stupid time. Law 12: There will always be at least one charm you cannot go without. For me, Longnail.

HK iron rule: Even if the boss was playing pasive, the moment you start healing, the boss gonna jump stright to you or send a minion to do the same thing and let you just with one mask and suffering a little longer before killing you... i'm watching you lost brother vessel.

3:11 In order to buy everything, you'll have to farm geo eventually. There's no way you'll have enough just by killing enemies and getting geo deposites on the way or turning all the relics in. Those unbreakable charms aren't cheap,

Number 4 really resonates with me. I had been stuck on the failed champion for ages. I was tucked in the left corner of the room, trying to avoid his attacks and I didn't realize he was on the last stage and was about to break through the floor. When he broke that the floor, the wall that was holding me in place disappeared. I was so happy, and shocked that I did it, that I forgot I was still holding down the left move button and ran off the edge of the platform before I could finish the fight. I wanted to die.

You can FEEL the rage at that ticktick in his voice.

Rule 14: In a boss fight where you haven't taken damage yet. The second you do, you will likely panic and take even more damage. Effectively lower your chance to win by a decent margin and letting the boss shove his meter long nail right up your behind. (True story for my first playthrough. Loved the video too because around half of them applied to me.)

I'm literally sitting here listening to #9 and I'm like "i think ive seen everything", only for him to put some giant thing onscreen at 9:11 that i have never seen even in other youtube videos

After my first playthrough I realized what a god you become like bosses that literally made me punch holes in walls before are now laughable and I love that feeling

Rule 11, you will always have to look up a guide for at least one thing on your first playthrough.

"Even if you know that an attack is coming, you will manage to walk into it. With one mask left."

A law that applies to me: I am shit at platforming or boss fights that requires me to use down striking with the nail.

Rule 11: Everyone will have that one boss that they absolutely detest with every fiber of their being. It’s usually one of the following 3, Markoth, Grey Prince Zote, and/or Absolute Radiance.

11. You'll *never* find a bench when you're looking for one.

There's always a better way to fight any particular enemy, and you're the only one that couldn't figure it out on your first playthrough.

6:58 fits perfectly with my first play through, I was doing the flower quest and died three times right at the end where all you had to do was time a dash, and I kept doing it to early then sliding into the thorns.

11. There will always be a person that says what you just spent the last 2hrs doing easy

(Still in my first playthrough) Rule 11: The instance you get a new move, the game will alter the level so that there is no location to use it on anymore.

Rule 11, Soul Masters fake death will catch you off guard. Rule 12, Anyone that claims to have not been trolled by soul master is lying.

On my first playthrough I struggled with Broken Vessel… _so much._ Then I started getting involved with the community and realized I was a complete mess.

Rule 11: When you reach NKG, Pure Vessel, or Absolute Radiance, Unless you are god you will not beat them without their move sets being coded into your DNA.

Rule 11: When fighting a boss, you WILL attempt to heal at the wrong moment.

The thing about primal aspids is that their spread pattern is exactly the right width that if you try to jump over the middle shot when shot at from the side of dodge to the side when shot from somewhere above, you’ll almost always hit one the side ones... plus they feel at least, like they actually lead their shots somewhat.

Law 11: You will constantly question "did I do this thing" to yourself

Rule 11: you will always end up giving the flower to someone else before doing flower quest Rule 12: most of the time you don't realize that Zote does no damage because you took you time trying to avoid attacks as you normally would

I’m currently playing through for the first time, so here’s a law for people like me: Your first time through, every new area is the new hardest area. I’m currently bashing my face against the soul sanctum so I don’t have to deal with crystal peak ever again. Prior to that, I was finding ever secret I could in the howling cliffs so I could delay city of tears.

law 11: deepnest just deepnest

Law 11: people who explore deepnest without the lumafly lantern are legends

6:07 it was to a crystal hunter on the mound. My real most embarrassing death was my ONLY death on a 112% file where I died to a random vengefly on crossroads after playing literally eight hours that same day

There will always be that one attack during a boss fight that you just can't figure out, and end up taking to the face

Remember kids: there is no shame in quitting to menu in steel soul to bring yourself back to a bench

You have to talk to the old man in dirt mouth. It's Hart breaking to see him cry and put his hand up to call for you

law 11: after you beat the game once and start your 2nd playthrough you'll feel like if you were in a wheel chair, blind, deaf and mute, you can do 1/100 of what you were able to do before, that's how you will feel: you can't dash, you can't climb walls, you can't double jump, yu can't super dash, you can't swim in acid, you do -1 damage, you have no health nor soul containers, charms or charm notches, you can't dream nail, you can't teleport, you have no magic, no nail techniques, no maps, no stag stations, no geo (meh who cares actually) and most importantly you don't have any of the combos that coulb be made by using any of these things above, for example you can't climb walls to then double jump and dash to get further away from the wall you jumped from...i think you get the idea, especially because i think most of you have been through this

Law 11 The sadness when u die a second time trying to get ur ghost/shadow back and loose all the geo u farmed

Rule 11: When youre doing a bossfight early game and you die. You go to the boss room and shade is right at the very end of it making you spawn the boss as youre trying to kill shade.

The best part about that spike death. Is that if he just held left he would've grabbed the wall and survived, instead he stopped moving after the double jump and welcomed death.

I found out about False Knight's club on my first playthrough, and I got really scared that it was gonna be another enemy I'd have to fight.

Rule 11: during a second run the boss you thought easy is going to kill you.

rule 11: you will lie awake for hours on end trying to piece together lore, ultimately coming to a conclusion (such as it's all based on norse mythology, or the radiance is actually the pale king) and then wake up the next day, remember it vividly, and think that you're an idiot because it doesn't bloody make sense.

6:45 Actually, there is one thing you could do in the menu: it's the button labeled "quit to menu" since it (as far as I know) returns you to the most recent bench/respawn point.

3:25 relating to the shortage of geo thing, before beating hornet I thought you needed lumafly lantern and was so confused on how I was supposed to get enough geo.

For me Fog Canyon was the place I could never figure out. I still don't understand how that place is laid out. I discovered the Queen's Gardens by navigating up from Deepnest for crying out loud XP City of Tears was the first dreamer I did. As soon as I got double jump I wanted to go there and find out what was up that one ledge.
