It's nice that the line "Pity for your cursed kind" was from her dream nail dialogue , which is "Only pity for your cursed kind!"

I absolutely love how this potrays how Hornet is in both the protector battle and the sentinel battle. The line in the chorus "Shell within the void, you would seek the end" becoming "Shell within the void, you would *face* the end" in the sentinel section is a perfect example of how Hornet sees the Knight in the two fights.

I loved that even the iconic Shaw, Adino and Higale made it into the lyrics.

The song we'll play every time we hope Silksong gets a release date in a Nindie direct.

That transition from the first Hornet fight to Daughter of Hallownest was perfect, and I love the development of how Hornet sees the Knight!

Oh MAN this is a STRONG start to the highly anticipated hollow knight bytes. if THIS is what all of these songs are gonna sound like i will be WELL satisfied, this is INCREDIBLE. i’m absolutely obsessed with the expansion of the lyrics since the initial songtober version, all the little hints at the wider lore of the game and hornet’s iron-willed personality and desire to test the knight are just so GOOD. and DAMN right when i was thinking “man this is giving me chills” emmy’s BELTING THE HIGH NOTES at the end of the song kicked in and HOOOOOOOOOLYYY GODDAMN??? emmy’s range never fails to impress me and the raw POWER behind it is outstanding. also, there’s something so deeply SATISFYING about the “needles pulling thread, spiders pulling silk” like, i can’t explain what it is but it itches my brain so much and just lodges itself in there. absolutely incredible. fantastic job everyone! can’t wait for more!

I can't get over how much _power_ is in the singer's voice. It's beautiful. She really captured the determination Hornet has to protect the kingdom, a great choice for the role. And the lyrics are so cool! My favorite line is probably "I'll not hold back if the weak die at my blade," though I also really like how "Needles pulling thread, spiders pulling silk" sounds, it's very satisfying. And of course the callback to Broken Vessel with "Shell within the void" is a delight. Speaking of Broken Vessel... I wonder if this means we'll get a remaster? The original was already so good, but the "minimal polish" of Songtober was present. I can't wait to see how it turns out with more polish, it'd be amazing. Ooh, or Mantis Lords. That one was really good but I think it suffered more than BV from how Songtober works, it'd need a bit more time to hone it. I do wonder if the lyrics will stay the same for BV though, since "He wanted a son" always slightly irked me for the inaccuracy as the Pure Vessel is genderless.* Granted, it may not be literal, it's probably just easier to rhyme the word "son" than "child" because then "Only the perfect one" would have to be changed too. Who knows, we'll just have to wait and see if that song is planned. *Obligatory mention that this is canon. (Note how Hornet is _"The_ gendered child" according to the Deepnest midwife, which emphasizes that she is _different_ than her half-siblings for having a gender) People have argued with me on this before and I would prefer that not happen again, as it is exhausting. Please don't turn my replies into another warzone over what is and isn't canon due to me expressing an opinion over a line in an older video, we don't need that here. Just let people have their non-binary representation and enjoy the music. If I could I would not put this footnote because it just brings up unnecessary negativity but I have had enough run-ins with people like this to know that I need to. Edit: I am so glad that the line was changed in the new version :)

Love how Broken Vessel’s song had the line “Shell within the void / Know this is the end / Broken and discarded / Ashes that descend” Meanwhile this one has “Shell within the void / You would seek the end / Who would claim the hollow / Let the light extend” and “Shell within the void / You would face the end / Claim the mark of kings / If kingdoms you’d defend” Is the line about shell within the void going to become a repeat appearance in Hollow Knight songs? I sure hope so because it’s really cool to see how each person addresses Ghost and the consistent “-end” words at the end of each line is a very fun theme. Edit: With the release of the Mantis Lords song breaking this pattern, it does appear that I’m wrong. Maybe it’s just the bosses relevant to the main story, in that case.

truly a masterpiece not a single lyric i said i would change or that it doesnt match the theme the lyrics which was written well the details in it such as hornet calling the knight ghost at first and a vessel without a soul and after that in kingdom's edge she recognized his skills and and that he isnt just a ghost or one of the failed vessels and called him the lost child and the voice for hornet is filled with energy and purity its like she poured her soul into the song y'all truly did an amazing job

I immediately apologize for my translator You know, I knew straight away that August would start with Horn....et and yes I was right. And so let's analyze. First of all, I just LOVE the original composition. Christopher Larkin has done a fantastic job and it feels more pronounced in Horrrrnet. The music feels majestic, restrained, but there is no sense of anyone... it's hard for me to describe it, so to speak, a sense of danger, but having something more, a certain history and something hidden inside, a certain anger and a load of something more, which is expressed by small outbursts of emotions, which again turns into a content. This track is just beautiful and incredibly suitable for Horn...Hornet. Of course, maybe I overdid it a little with this composition, but that's exactly what I feel about it. Secondly, the vocals are just BEAUTIFUL. I had some concerns about the candidacy of QueenCreeps, her voice was good, but I wasn't sure if she would be able to cope with these outbursts of emotions that I described earlier and I like the final version much better. Emily, personally, has not disappointed me yet. Her voice is just perfect for this role, quite restrained and majestic in the right places, and in others emotional outbursts are just perfect and conveys the whole essence of the character. I will note one moment at 3:14, the singing is just perfect for the music, at first the vocals are formidable like the instrumental and then, together with the flute, the vocals become softer, perfect. I take off my hat to her. Third, Alex's text is pretty good as usual. The text follows certain stages. At first, Ho... Hornet challenges the ghost (damn, I've forgotten the text by this point), but she approaches it with maximum seriousness and concentration. She is secretive, but she shows what she is fighting for, for her kingdom, or rather what is left of it. In the second verse, she admits that her opponent has strength, but she warns that this is not even close to the end, that there will be more opponents and more threats, and this is not their last meeting. The third verse and the last test, (I forgot the text again) Horniet already fully recognizes his power that can save the Kingdom, but another test is needed. The last test to finally find out if he can save the Kingdom, if he can bear such a heavy burden, if he can do what he was created for!... As you can see, Alex did his best and maybe in some places I dramatized too much, I hope you understand me. Fourth, the art is quite beautiful (what did you expect from me? I don't know how to describe pictures). Thanks to Flamia, Linda Roethlin and WinterDoodles. Fifth, thanks to Mark for the mix. This is genuinely stunning. Easily one of the best covers produced by the MotI team in recent times. I look forward to what other songs will be selected for the Hollow Knight Musical Bytes! I’m personally holding out hope for Sealed Vessel and/or Pure Vessel, but regardless of wether we get them or not, I know this package is gonna be phenomenal.

I only finished hollow knight not so long ago and Hornets fights and music are some of my favourite in the game so this video is freaking fantastic and I can’t wait to listen to this on loop for the next couple days
