It also explains how Vueko’s curse seemed to retain more of her original body. She still had her right eye, most of her torso, and hair intact. Vueko could still speak, too. Granted, she died soon after. Mitty lost all signs of sentience and her original body. I’d go as far as to speculate that the reason she was “immortal” was that she had lost her organs and other human features. She had basically developed into a breathing pile of flesh.
I think the concept of turning into a hollow is compared to what happened to blob fish when they are brought to the surface. Blob fish are those ugly fish memes you may see a lot on the Internet. Blob fish actually looked normal in their natural environment which is at a very deep part of the ocean, it is just their body becomes very deforrmed as they are ascend to the surface due to pressure differences. Blob fish aren't the only fishes that becomes deforrmed as they ascend to the surface of the water. The similarity of blob fish to the curse of the sixth abyss is uncanny.
This video was extremely helpful in understanding the Hollows and their role in the Made in Abyss anime. The narrator did an excellent job of breaking down all the important aspects of the Hollows, providing a thorough and easy to understand explanation. The visuals and animations were also great at helping to illustrate the points made. I'm a huge fan of Made in Abyss and this video was the perfect way to learn more about the Hollows. Thanks for making this awesome video!
Yeah that part of the video wasn't accurate. The elevator they were raised in funneled most but not all of the curse nanachi would have experienced into Mitti. Not only that, but the strong bond of love the two shared affected the way the curse mutated Nanachi.
I really hope that somehow Nanachi reunites with the human Mitty once again. After all Its the "Abyzs" . Maybe they can find a relic thatcan make it possible. Maybe something like a "Dragonball" .
Surely it's not just ironic that Nana smelled so good afterwards, we've seen the proclivity of The Abyss to grant wishes, the themes of ones desires and what they as individuals consider defines their "value." The problem seems to be that nothing is outright given--there is always a price or "trade" which tends to lean towards the stripping of what we would consider humanity. Sorry, I'm just deep in the rabbit hole (oh god even THAT has anyssal themes, geez) right now. Love hearing everyone's thoughts on it.Great video, subscribed!
No, the English dub is the only mention of a gender. The creator has stated that nanachi even before becoming a hollow was meant to be ambiguous in terms of gender. And after hollowing nanachi literally has no gender if I remember correctly.
I think it depends on the video content. The more mainstream anime videos get tons of views right away but the lesser known ones don't get as many when they first get uploaded
as a person that identifies with pronouns not find finding myself as a he or she I really rather to be call as "it" I don't is disrespectful at all, so I suggest the use of it for guy lad Nanachi here. Respect is in how we refer to others and not in the tacit meaning of the word
You're incorrect, nanachi was never referred to using gendered language until the English dub added it in for some reason or another of their own accord. Even the original author has stated that their gender is meant to be ambiguous before even becoming a hollow.
