@@Gulistan24Tarkan 'Şımarık' (1997) - Holly Valance 'Kiss Kiss' (2002) Tarkan (Tevetoğlu) was born 17 Oct 1972 in Alzey, West Germany, and raised in Turkey. In 1997 Sezen Aksu, one of the very established musicians and composers in Turkey, wrote Şımarık (English: Spoiled) for him, which should become famous and make it's rounds very fast in countries with high Turkish population, home and abroad. But it was Australian Holly Valance's version Kiss Kiss, which should take it to world fame. Tarkan - Şımarık (1999) BE#1, NOR#2, CH#3, NL#3, FR#3, SWE#3, DE#6, AT#14
this track was released in 2002 when i was in high school in Australia doing grade nine. Holly Valance's track Kiss Kiss was a hit on the Australian music charts. I have a copy of her album which i purchased in 2002 from K Mart in Australia.
Nostalgie pur! Auf kassette damals aufgenommen..kannte vorher zwar schon das original von tarkan aber das hatte irgendwie meine volle aufmerksamkeit! Love it ! 2023 noch am laufen =)
I never seen so many people get annoyed that Holly covered this song. I didn't knew about this being a cover back then as a kid. But I learn to respect that. Artists do covers of songs. 90s and 00s songs are covers from 60s som are also.
Fun fact: Holly's version is a cover of a re-write. Stella Soleil released this a year before Holly did. Not only was the language changed from Tarkan's original Turkish version, but the lyrics were re-written too. :-)
@@Ayrodynamic Yup! Everyone generally gets rich along the way with covers so that's a good thing. Especially the original artist. They usually get the greatest chunk of the cash which is why so few covers are commercially released these days. Artists want to keep as much of the $$ for themselves despite the rule of "change a word, get a third" when it comes to songwriting credits and cashing in...
@@Ayrodynamic Plus, let's face it, SS didn't have the range for even flair for this song even though I think she's great. Just not as good as HV or Tarkan for that matter... ;-)
@@stickynorth I disagree. The SS version was the one that was a pop hit and really had the magic. Here is the link to her video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rP1DdAA48dA.html
No matter whar about this song is. This cover is really great. But it's brings a lot of memories from 1999 when it was big hit of Tarkan. I was 13 years old, now i'm 33 and it's much sensimental. It brings a lot of memories of childhood when everything was easy. And it brings tears to my eyes remembering of happy times.
obsessed that this WHOLE time there was a cover of a tarkan classic, that i LOVE, sung by my favorite actress in my favorite flop movie dead or alive, and i just didn't know about it? until now???

She's turned into a right wing big Trump supporter Conspiracy theory supporter She's now officially a weird Neighbours star and this one hit wonder for her
Holly Valance was my first ever celebrity crush. 5 years old I was when I first saw her sing this on *Smash Hits!* on the television in my home country, the UK 🇬🇧 in 2002 (Back when Pop Music was good, The Glory Days I like to call it), and I fancied her daily, thought she was ACE! Decades later, and as an adult, Holly Valance is still my celebrity crush to this day and She is still a gorgeous lady and a natural beauty even though she has kept out of the limelight in recent years. Plus ‘Kiss Kiss’ was and still is a good song for it’s time 💜
This song is so awesome about the music that has been released in 3 languages Arabic (la muchacha turca), Greek (φιλάκια) and English. Turkish (simarik) is the original but every version is excellent! I miss those years...
My so-called girlfriend said each day that she loved me, but each time the kiss is just on the facial cheek. So this year I discovered Holly Valance, and I do love her more than she("gf"). Shouldn't and couldn't I ?
This song is the most beautiful song I've listened to while I was listening to my children in the 90's.(BU ŞARKI TARKA NIN 90 LARDA ÇOCUKKKEN DİNLEDİĞİM EN GÜZEL ŞARKISI 2 VE 4 YAŞINDA SÜREKLİ SEVEREK DİNLEDİĞİM BİR ŞARKISI
1997: Fantastic song released only to be stolen 5 years later by an Australian Bimbo ex-actress from a TV show called Neighbours who moved to the UK to pursue a music career
Randomly got this tune stuck in my head but could not remember the song or artist. I have been searching for this song for the past 3 hours and finally found it. Remember listening to this when I was a teenager.
Me too! And when I saw this video for the first time I was lunching with my mom and my sister. These 3 minutes were so... awkward. Eyes forward and pray it ends quickly!
I remember this being shown on a kids Saturday morning show here in the UK. They literally played the first minute before it cut away and the presenter said 'and we have to stop it there because after that, all her clothes fall off'
I went to Turkey in 2001. They used to sing the Turkish version of this song every night. My brother hated it, so I bought the album & played at home he went nuts it was hilarious
Yes! 🤣 I also wondered what happened to her after not hearing about her anymore down here in Oz, since she kind of dropped off our radar after this song was released. How refreshing to find out that she is rational and intelligent - unlike most of the privileged elites in the entertainment industry or politics.
I remember watching this as a preteen. This video made me realise that I was into chicks, I made my parents buy me the single because it had a poster of her in it. That thing sat on my wall for many a year.
Lol, me too! I saw this video for the first time a little earlier, 12 years old, and it was a cringeworthy situation, lunching with my parents, a mix of shame and excitation.
