The Lark M1 is a compact and lightweight wireless microphone system that consists of one transmitter with a built-in microphone and one dual-channel receiver. The transmitter clips on to your clothing and captures your voice with an omnidirectional mic. The receiver connects to your camera, smartphone, or tablet via a 3.5mm cable and receives the audio signal from the transmitter. You can also use the optional USB-C or lightning cables to connect the receiver to your Android or iOS devices.
The Lark M1 uses 2.4GHz adaptive frequency hopping technology to ensure a stable and interference-free connection between the transmitter and the receiver. It can transmit audio up to 656 feet (200 meters) in open space. The Lark M1 also features a HearClear noise cancellation function that filters out ambient noise and enhances your voice quality. You can switch the noise cancellation on or off depending on your recording environment and preference.
The Lark M1 has a long battery life of up to 8 hours on a single charge. You can charge the transmitter and the receiver via USB-C ports, or you can use the included charging case (with the Duo set) that can charge both units simultaneously. The charging case also serves as a storage case that protects the Lark M1 from dust and damage (both sets also come with a soft storage for the mics and the accessories.
The Lark M1 is easy to use and requires no complicated setup. You just need to turn on the transmitter and the receiver and they will automatically pair with each other. Thank you very much for this thorough and concise review. I was on the fence and now feel confident with my decision to purchase these for an amateur documentary project that I will be producing that will include interviews with people.

Great Review! I'm also beginning to using the M1. Any tips on how to edit the sound in Davinci like you did? It really sounds amazing like a condenser mic. Also I sometimes get strange distortion in my voice during recording. ever had that problem? (recording in stereo on a phone without noise canceling) sry to put that in comments but there is almost no info on the M1 out there 😅

Thanks. Glad you found the video helpful. I've got a template in DVR that I've tailored to my small echoey room that makes the mic sound better (I hope), and I then use the same template for every video.

imprssive at that distance. below you said it's hit or miss within 20m. I'd probbaly be moving and turning my back at some points but within 5M, would it still cut out and when you say about a transmission pack with lav, do you mena like the rode ones ?

Hello, is this a good gift for Pastor for preaching? I'm trying to get him something where he doesn't need to hold a normal mic and can move freely and speak more clearly, thanks for the help.

Thanks for the review. My concern is that when you turn your back on the receiver, it cuts out... but does that only happen at a certain distance? I am needing a solution that will still capture my voice if I have my back or side to the recipient.

My advice with these during my testing is that at closer range (within about 20m or so), it's very hit and miss whether it cuts out or not, and at longer distances, if you turn your back it will almost always instantly cut out. Mics like these always talk about the line of sight transmission and perfect environmental conditions. Have you tried researching the wireless microphones, where there is a transmission pack (usually) attached to your trousers waist with a lav mic attached?

I bought the solo version .. but when I connect it to my Sony a6400 it only records CH1 , so only from one side .. why is that ? Do you have any idea ?

While recording, did you use some sort of noise cancelling?

Reason I got it so it would work with my iPhone with otterbox case. I had back in May got the c1 loved its plug and play. Didn’t work with the otterbox case. I return it. Then I saw M1 so I order it today.

I'm curious what format do you record the sound in and what software when inside? I have these and can't seem to get the full sound you have.

I record the sound directly into my camera (sony zv-e10) and edit using davinci resolve. You might either need to check whether the mic is recording the stereo (and not mono, which would cause sound coming out of either only the left or right channel). You may also have to edit the sound with a few presets in your editing software.
