Following the divorce, Reynolds experienced a career resurgence with films like Striptease in 1996 and Boogie Nights in 1997, which earned him an Oscar nomination. However, this comeback was short-lived, and his career soon stalled once again.
Throughout the rest of his life, Reynolds faced financial difficulties. He lost one of his estates due to missed payments and was labeled a California tax delinquent.
Despite not being completely destitute in his final years, Reynolds did not have the wealth expected of someone with his former A-list status. He spent his remaining years on an estate in Palm Beach County.
