Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle did not rape Virginia Rappe. He was charged in very flimsy evidence and went through two mistrials until he was found not guilty in a third trial. In the jury's verdict in the third trial the jurors went so far as to include in their findings that: "Acquittal is not enough for Roscoe Arbuckle. We feel that a great injustice has been done him. We feel also that it was only our plain duty to give him this exoneration, under the evidence, for there was not the slightest proof adduced to connect him in any way with the commission of a crime. He was manly throughout the case and told a straightforward story on the witness stand, which we all believed. The happening at the hotel was an unfortunate affair for which Arbuckle, so the evidence shows, was in no way responsible. We wish him success and hope that the American people will take the judgment of fourteen men and woman who have sat listening for thirty-one days to evidence, that Roscoe Arbuckle is entirely innocent and free from all blame." Arbuckle was charged with having alcohol at the party Rappe was at (during Prohibition) and the cost of lawyers for the trials broke him financially.

Yes, and Virginia had what we call now, "Pre-existing conditions". I am not sure if there was such a medical term when she died in 1921. Nonetheless, Arbuckle was blacklisted in Hollywood and never really recovered from this trial.

You implied The Arbuckle had something to do with the death of Virginia Rappe. This is totally false. Virtually the only indisputable facts seem to be that on September 5, 1921, there was a party at the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco where alcohol was in abundance (despite Prohibition laws) and that both Arbuckle, then age 33, and a woman named Virginia Rappe were in attendance. Then, at some point during the revelry, Arbuckle and Rappe were briefly in the same hotel room together. But when Arbuckle left the room, Rappe remained lying on the bed “writhing in pain.” Four days later, she was dead of a ruptured bladder. Another partygoer soon accused Fatty Arbuckle of raping and killing her and he was tried three different times for those crimes. But the first two trials ended with hung juries and the third ended with an acquittal. The partygoer later recant his statement. Whatever happened that night, Virginia Rappe’s condition had still not improved three days afterward. It was then that she was taken to a hospital where doctors originally thought she had alcohol poisoning from the bootleg liquor. But as it turned out, she had peritonitis resulting from a ruptured bladder likely caused by her pre-existing condition.

I didn't realized she was buried at this cemetery but a beautiful resting place it is. What a beautiful, kind woman. She helped so many less fortunate souls on this earth. May She Rest in Peace. As for not being able to video there, are they afraid those who are deceased aren't looking their best? Ugh, absurd.

On another youtuber I follow (Hollywood Graveyard) he even made a full episode on that location without any problems. I suggest that you re-visit the information about Fatty Arbuckle and Virginia Rappe. The narrative of brutal rape was pushed by Hearst in his newspapers. Arbuckle was acquitted after 3 trials, but his career was destroyed. When Arbuckle asked Hearst why he did this to him, Hearst replied " It wasn't personal, it was just business"

5:19 Mickey Rooney "It's a MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD World"! One of the greatest comedies of all time, if not the best. The ensemble cast will never be duplicated for how many well known stars were in it at one time. He was also in several movies with Judy Garland, so many, at one point Hollywood of then were thinking they were going to be married as a genuine couple. He also was in a not so well-known movie called "The Fireball" with a young Marilyn Monroe. She had a few speaking lines/scenes. He became a roller-skating champion. 10:19 her grave looks much better now as of 2024. She had what is known now as "pre-existing conditions" in 1921, which, she died from 4 days after the Arbuckle Hotel incident. He was acquitted from the main charge against him, and the jury even apologized for the injustice of 3 trials and no evidence of the main charge. There was NO crime. 23:13 Hollywood Forever cannot even get her cenotaph marker correct with the date of her birth. It is not 1938. It is 1933 - 1967. 23:56 Henry Cohn made a pass at Marilyn Monroe as well when she did one movie under the studio "Ladies of the Chorus". After he invited her to his yacht for a "party" she asked who else is going to be there, he said, us. She declined the invitation and wasn't renewed on her contract at Columbia. He was certainly another "Weinstein" .

Fatty Arbuckle was accused of rape; but it was not proven. Virginia went to the party held in Arbuckle's suite by his friends with a woman named Delmont or Dumont, complained that her stomach ached, started retching and crying in the bathroom. A doctor was summoned. She died the next day. Her companion told the DA that Virginia cried out "He's hurting me!", but her story broke down. No one knew what happened to Virginia; but peritonitis from a botched abortion was one thing suspected. Arbuckle went through three trials, and the third jury acquitted him, saying that an injustice had been done to him. Rape was not proven; but the damage was done. Arbuckle was tarred with the sins of Hollywood, and it didn't help that his frequent co-star Mabel Nornand was hounded for being the last person known to be with director William Desmond Taylor before Taylor was murdered the following week. Mabel was revealed to have the cocaine habit; Taylor's servant was gay and Taylor was living under an assumed name. A lot of dirty linen was being shown in public in the following weeks, and both Roscoe and Mabel were caught and buried under it.

Jeff, I think it took me about an hour to find Peter Lorrie's grave. I've been to Hollywood Forever Cemetery probably about a dozen times and only once were they complete Nazis about me taking pictures. All the other times they didn't care. The most notorious celebrity Cemetery against photography and filming is holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City. I've been kicked out of there once. Jordan The Lion and Adam The Woo have both been kicked out of there for filming. However I think Westwood Memorial Park is the best celebrity Cemetery to visit. They don't care if you take pictures or film as long as your respectful.

There's so much to say, so I'll try to keep it short. My favorite Mickey Rooney's film is Pete's Dragon, he was really good in that film. I didn't know that two different actors that played Zorro are bury there, that's really cool. Thankyou Jeff and Sarah for making this video, Happy New Year, hope 2021 will be a great year for you guys.🙂

Mickey Rooney won an award for a TV film with Dennis Quaid called BILL, based on a true story. Highly worth a watch.

One of his best performances. Truthfully, though, he has too many best performances to list. R.I.P. Mr. Rooney.

Hello Jeff & Sarah, when visiting Hollywood Forever Cemetery I was approached by a Security Guard, he noticed my camera and he kindly asked me about my visit. He shared to be respectful of the surroundings and made mention about the Celebrity Map. We talked about the picture taking and videoing of the Cemetery. He stated, there number one Issue is, people bringing attention to themselves, meaning the use of tripods, selfie sticks, walking the grounds doing loud narration's. Please, I'm not saying you brought attention to yourselves and you don't do loud narration's, just wanted to share my experience with the Security Guard. Happy Safe New Year to you both, Thank You for sharing the history.

Mickey Rooney was the star with Judy Garland of the "Andy Hardy" movies series. As a child star, he played "Puck" in "A Midsummer's Nights Dream" along with James Cagney, Olivia de Havalind and a long list of starts. Rooney had one of the longest careers in Hollywood in history.

Johnny Ramone rocked. All the members of that band died much too soon. Thanks for this fantastic trip down memory lane with all the background information on the actors and actresses interred at this park.
