"The object of the game is to get 3 stars in a row, either across, up and down, or diagonally. It's up to them to figure out if the stars are giving the correct answer or they're just making them up. That's how you get the squares. Our first game is worth a thousa- A THOUSAND DOLLARS?!!!!!" RIP to the OG master of these squares!
The originals always did it the best anyway, like it's second nature. Although Monty and Bob were much older, the moment you saw them on their respective shows, you automatically said, mentally, :"TAKE IT AWAY!!"
BREAKING NEWS: PETER MARSHALL, THE MASTER OF THE “HOLLYWOOD SQUARES”, PASSED AWAY TODAY AT 98. HERE IS A MEMORABLE APPEARANCE WITH TOM BERGERON. Kenneth Huang. 8/15/24.
That was Peter's child. I would say that Bob and Monty could've taken over their respective shows, the format of them was switched up. Perhaps we'll get into details later.
@@LaVanderWilliams true! man, I didn’t wanna believe the reports at first, cause I saw it on facebook first before the outlets started notifying me on my IPhone, that is crazy.
After this episode of Hollywood Squares; Charles Nelson Reilly, Bret Somers, Jim Lange, Rod Roddy, Bob Barker (Behind The Squares), Martin Mull and Peter Marshall all passed away. The last two I mentioned passed away this year.
This was one of Rod Roddy's last projects before he passed away in October 2003 (along with the remainder of TPIR season 31 and the first part of season 32)
Tom Bergeron and the production crew did the right thing letting Peter Marshall host Hollywood Squares again in this episode, but if only Henry Winkler (since he was the last to executively produce the show) and the rest of the production crew brought back Marshall to host the show again on April Fool's Day 2003, it would be a much better April Fool's treat to enjoy than the joke they planned to play on Tom, the panelists, and us, the viewers!
@usanatv2007sentertainmentinc. Yeah, I agree that the 2003 April Fool's episode of the Tom Bergeron version of Hollywood Squares is still funny, but I'm pretty sad that Tom Bergeron was the last host of Hollywood Squares, that game show really needs to come back, now I know there have been spin-offs of that show that came after it, but no, they don't count, I'm sorry.
Hollywood Squares waa always a staple in our househokd growing up . I didnt understand the jokes but everyone had a good time. I renember when this "week" aired. RIP Peter. I dont remember JJ hosting a game show.
Jimmy Walker never did. He and Martin Mull and Kathy Griffin were just there to fill the rest of the spaces. They apparently couldn't come up with 9 different game show hosts, that's all.
Jimmie Walker was a panel regular going back to the 70s, whether it was on Match Game or the 80s mashup version of Match Game/Hollywood Squares. Mull was actually the center square for this version's final season. Griffin is the only one who didn't have real history.
@@davidgamez5497 There was one episode that I watched when Tom Bergeron took a piece of tape with his name on it and stuck it over Bob's name on the Bob Barker Studio plaque. A few minutes later, Bob comes over, rips the tape off, and says "As if!"
"First game is worth a thou---A THOUSAND DOLLARS?!? Whoa, times have changed!" I still laugh every time I hear that, especially knowing games were worth $200 way back when."
The later Bergeron version of _Hollywood Squares_ ("H2" as it's referred to) isn't as memorable as Bergeron's original version. But man this definitely is a bright spot for the later version!
I, absolutely, will love this but, call "foul", if somebody mentions ALL the hosts wearing "regular" clothes. Mr. Eubanks looks ready to host my all-time favourite game show, "Trivia Trap." On TNG, he, always, had on a sport jacket or, suit jacket and, necktie. Regardless, since I love 'em, all and, saw them, on days, home, sick or, "sick", from school, I know I'm going to love this; thank-you, for posting!
