I’m Puerto Rican and was always taught not to touch no ones hair and also not to let others touch mine. My mom use to say aside of it being disrespectful, you don’t know the energy that person has or is given off
Last year I spent 6 months traveling through South Asia and everywhere I went people tried to touch my hair. After the 3rd time I just started touching their hair back and made it awkward for both of us. In one instance a lady asked me if I liked my hair and I replied “yes, I love my locs and curls!” while touching her hair and asking “do you like your hair? It’s so thin and brittle.”
Q is speaking the truth about just letting people go avoid arguments with people. It might help us to live another day. Arguments these days are not worth it.
One of the most uncomfortable parts about the touching hair situation is that a lot of times….they don’t even ask. It’s very disrespectful. The audacity of someone to assume they have the right to touch someone else without permission is insane.
HOW do I say this? FIRST! It is definitely NOT right for white people - and it's ALWAYS WHITE WOMEN, to touch black people's hair. BUT, black sisters! Come on, you spend your LIVES - in America! Africa! The Caribbean! TOSSIN' around WHITE WOMEN'S HAIR with a BLISSFUL GRIN! So it is YOU who have GIVEN THEM the impression? That you HATE your NATURAL HAI!! That YOUR HAIR is "THIS STRANGE, BAD, THING" sittin' atop your head, which you PREFER TO COVER WITH OTHER RACES' "GOOD" HAIR! Think about it: ASIAN HAIR is DEAD-STRAIGHT AS SHIT! I DON'T see WHITE PEOPLE trying to TOUCH it because it "LOOKS DIFFERENT!"
Funky what do you mean you don’t fully get the disrespect in touching someone’s hair??? Didn’t you say last show that someone going to grab your phone will result in an ass whooping?? Well it’s the same thing! PERSONAL SPACE AND BOUNDARIES!
According to the ADA act, disabled persons do not have to demonstrate a disability to employees of a service business (i.e. gas stations). They get paperwork that is approved by actual physicians to prove their disability. That person violated that woman’s rights.
I had a friend who was an aggressive driver. She called me one day freaking out because some man ON THE FREEWAY was following her and flashing his gun😱 I don’t rage…not worth it…another friend of mine watched as a grown man jumped out the truck and kicked out every single one of her windows. There was a toddler and two elderly people with her, and the old man ended up in the hospital with a head injury from the ensuing scuffle. NOPE!
@erikaarnold4780 I'm glad the one friend was safe🥲 and sorry😢 that happened to the other friend and an older gentleman went to the hospital🏨. People are just maddening😤 out here & have no respect for human lives🙄. I wish for love❤️ and peace✌🏾to all.
HAIR... That was not too much. They would have a fit if we even came NEAR their children. Their code words are "WE DON'T KNOW YOU"...Well, we don't know YOU either.
@@angelataylor5698Thank you Love and peace to you. I always try very hard everyday not to get into situations that allow confrontation. Just let it go. Your life depends on it.
I’m very happy to see y’all covered Sha’Cari’s recent success and new attitude/ appearance of being comfy in who she currently is… she is doing WONDERFUL!! 👏🏽👏🏽
whoever cast this show did a great job. they gel well and are great together. love the different perspectives and how they get along and you can tell they do their research and are meticulous and give intelligent conversation.
Hair: I love the Aunt's reaction. She totally blocked the lady. Did anyone notice that the white woman walked around her like she was entitled to touch the child? It is disrespectful to touch another person. Do not touch a person's hair or skin!
I used to have bad road rage. I stopped listening to rap music while driving and when I moved to ATL it took one incident for me to give it up. Gone head bro, I want to make it home.
Q, I used your advice about not letting people you don't know upset me. And I was out somewhere and a man kept banging me with his backpack and getting into my space when he had his own, AND I JUST BACKED UP AND MOVED ASIDE AND DIDN'T TAKE IT PERSONAL -BECAUSE I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW HIM. So, thank you Q!!!
That's so true. I don't look at his shows anymore. He is selling himself and his fans short. He has great subject ideas, but he gets lost in telling his stories.
I am now 55 and used to be like Al and got angry with other drivers etc, BUT years ago I became like Q and do not angry anymore with other drivers, and believe me, there have been situations where I would have been justified in getting angry BUT people theses days are angry and crazy AF especially since the pandemic…. Stay safe y’all!
In the past, people would just be either crazy or angry. But now, people are both crazy and angry all the time. You really have to learn how to pick your battles, or you will die on that battlefield!
You're right people are crazy and don't care. Their taking out on you whatever is already going on within them. You're doing the right thing. You stay safe as well and continue to turn the other cheek. Take care.❤
Same! I get my ride going by playing my favorite music and cruise along to my destination, if I’m going to slow ion mind you rushing around me because I’m not in a rush to die!
The problem with quite people touching Black hair is they usually reach for you without asking. You don't reach for a stranger or someone you dont know like that without their permission. It's invasive. Then they usually ask a bunch of odd follow up questions. Racism/prejudice may not be the intent but it's not right. We are not pets or foreign objects
My auntie used to say, "you see with your eyes not with your hands." She meant that for everything especially people. For me it was the initial touch it was the reach around as she was entitled. That woman was blocking that child from harassment. Period. Karen should have been stiff armed when she came back around.
If the writers and SAG members are smart, they will all stop going into work and start their own platforms. Corporations have way too much power, but it is because we continue to give it to them. Go independent people!
Q: Regarding the hair touching issue, for me, the disrespect is two fold. First, I don’t know WTH their hands have been and secondly, I wouldn’t dream of touching their hair (or anyone) without asking AND they agreeing. I agree with Claudia, are they petting the kid like an animal? I never even thought about that until Claudia said it, but that’s another point even the cheeks, as a toddler I used to hate for people to pinch my cheeks. Luckily, I had parents who supported my need for space and would tell people, she’s not that kind of child. 😂
I saw this story on another blog and they were saying “black people like to be rude for no real reason”. I advised that I have sensory issues, so I can’t handle people touching me. I can only imagine what my mom went through while I was growing up as I had salt and pepper thick long hair since I was like ten so it garnered a lot of attention especially from older people. However, rude or not, I don’t feel I should have to tell my medical restrictions when I ask please don’t touch my hair.
@@thesoloallianceexactly. And even if you ask I can still say no. It’s my hair, my body. I have a big Afro and it gets a lot of attention as well. I remember being in a bar and this white girl tried to touch my hair. I did the matrix in dat ass and my boyfriend jumped in front of me to stop the girl. The girl had the nerve to catch an attitude. “I don’t understand why I can’t touch your hair.” Cause I said so bihhhh. Da fuq is wrong with people? It’s the entitlement for me! 😂
Girl one of my patients aaked to touch my braids. She got mad saying I never let her touch my hair. I was like maam never seen u before now and I think it's disgusting when strangers touch me. I told her have a good day and feel better
I agree. I never saw it that way either. I do support children having a say in what people do to them. I wrote another comment earlier. But you broke it down. I can see it
I’m a CNA and one of my clients is bedridden. Every now and then she asks me if she can touch my hair while I am cleaning her and doing a brief change. She also asks me if she can rub my arm and if I can hold her hand. She’s simply admiring me like how a baby touches her mother when being fed. It’s comfort care and I will never tell her no.
YEA SUM PPL DON’T KNO WHAT PARALYZED PPL CAN/ DON’T DO. I’M INNA A WHEELCHAIR AN WILL SOON B LEARNING 2 DRIVE AGAIN. SO I GUESS I’LL B DEALING WIT THE SAME🤷🏾♀️
@@LG-uo7yu Hopefully you run into people like me. I would have just stepped in and pumped it for the lady had I seen the attendant giving her problems. There are more people who will help than not. We have a duty to help each other 🙌🏾
They should pay the damn scriptwriters what they deserve and earned with their blockbuster movie scripts. The content on television and cinema is becoming wacky AF. Like its becoming a worldwide phenomenon/issue in that various film entities/agencies across the world are supporting the writers' strike. Hollywood executives/producers are selfish AF with their repetitive content and we the consumers give it a pass because we don't know any better.
It's just too many people in the world especially in the U.S. It seems like every state is becoming overly crowded and populated. It's ridiculous. It feels congested. Great show!👍🏾
Touching the young girls hair: I appreciate the aunt stopping the WW from touching her hair…..I would have done the same but WITHOUT laughing. The laughter takes away from the importance and significance of respecting personal boundaries. Also, in this perv climate, never reach for someone’s kid and think that you won’t get knocked senseless. Our children aren’t here to satisfy your fascination. You can reach out to touch but beware that you might draw back a nub. 😐
The disrespectful thing about touching someone’s hair to me is simply why would u touch a stranger w/o their permission I’m the first place. That alone to me is rude !
My now 13 year old did pageants for 5 years, and one of the first things her coach taught her is do not let anyone touch your hair or dress backstage. In the pageant world, some girls (even as young as 6) have been taught to mess up other contestants' hair or dresses. Sometimes, it's actually physically messing up their hair or dress and sometimes is verbal sayings to get in the contestants' heads. And these weren't little rinky dink local pageants. These are well-known, popular, state, national, and international pageants! It's sad.
Claudia's statement about Covid was ignorant and insensitive. So many people died during the pandemic and she chose to make a joke about it. Her "apology" was also insincere because she was only sorry that she said it out loud, and she cont'd to laugh while "apologizing". Trash!!!
I stand with the writers, actors, and creative talent. Hollywood has hands over fist billions. They definitely deserve to be paid their worth. I say it all the time. The entertainment field is a real job. It may not be a 9 to 5 with set business hours, but it is a real job. And there are plenty of jobs behind the scenes that regular people do to make things happen for the big talent. The big talent they assume is so wealthy also has bills (and taxes) to pay. Along with employees and pay role staff. So it definitely is not "fantasy" people make it out to be.
Stop it. I don't care who you are don't touch my hair. Period, it has nothing to do with age it's ignorance. It gives the vibe of them treating us like animals and they want to pet us. Have respect. Also I am so proud of Shacarri she has matured I loved the moment she removed the wig. She looks better without it. Claudia I agree she looks more at piece. For whoever this person is urinating on herself it's disgusting. I can careless about getting old. I call it have Respect,Integrity and morals. It's too many of these new age people just do very distasteful antics and it's normal for them. I am glad I was raised n9t to make stupid decisions and entertain Foolishness
Exactly! A woman at church attempted to 'pet' my hair... I hurt her feelings real bad, but she did not apologize. The audacity...I'm over the age of 50 and for someone to think that it's ok to invade my personal state and treat me like an animal. Wth...
@@shoogasweet5847 you are absolutely right. I am over 50 as well I don't understand the infatuation of wanting to constantly touch people's hair. I wear my natural hair in it's curly state. It seems like people just don't respect your personal space. We have to tell them to stop.
Under the ADA, the American disability at the attendant was supposed to help her. If a person inform you that they are handicap or have a disability you are supposed to have a system that is supposed to be in the app policy and procedures handbook. No ADA get winded is that could be a lawsuit when I saw this video for the first time I’ve said that that she should get the ADA involved, because now she has been discriminated against on the American disability act.
It is about people thinking they have ownership over you. I am not your. And that young lady laughedto keep from cursing her out. They have no home training.
My sister moved to Texas from New England and she stopped honking and flipping the bird when she got to Texas because she was told that everyone is strapped and won't hesitate to shoot you! Facts!
My mom taught me not to let folks touch my hair but it really doesn't bother me but what I did notice is when I went natural circs 2000, Black women would touch my hair. And I had a few elder black women literally play in my hair, I think it was reminding them if how their hair was as little girls, I would often wear my hair in puffs.
That’s a good point. Black women touch my natural hair often and I never really think about it. I guess because it usually feels like their coming from a place of love. But whenever a white hand reaches out I run! AHT AHT! 😂
Exactly! Thank you both for speaking up! As a "black female" growing up in the city, any girl that had "different" hair got annoyed because girls and grown women would just touch their "pretty hair" without permission 🤷. It was even in a spike Lee movie 🤷 black females violate and touch hair without permission as well 🤷. I saw it my whole life 💯
I’m sorry to hear of your loss. I too lost a lot of friends/ loved ones to COVID. I had it myself and as a result I am mentally, emotionally and physically not the same. I’m afraid of everything now and I have a hard time functioning. I pray that one day I will be able to have some peace of mind. Again so sorry for your loss. ❤️🙏🏾
I talked to the strikers about a month ago one said that the reason why series are cut short they don't want to pay the long-term residual and if you are leading actor on the series they cut your screen time which also affects your income
Like solange said in her song don't touch my hair When it's the feelings I wear Don't touch my soul When it's the rhythm I know Don't touch my crown You know this hair is my shit Rolled the rod, I gave it time But this here is mine Period what solange said!!! I don't want your energy transferring towards me please
If they want to touch black people's hair direct them to the nearest wig store where they can find all textures or styles and even try one on. Some of them are still disturbed and think that everything is here for their entertainment or to appease or satisfy their curiosity. Sometimes they act like kids who have no manners or sense.
An' other times they (white ppl), do S***, because they know full well they'll get a reaction from us... that's just what they want, so we can then be called the, "ANGRY BLACK PERSON," while they stand back an' try to look as if they don't know what they did...🤬
I will never forget a white girl who was so sad when I told her not to fucking dare. Her cousin (a whole white man) who was also in the car piped up and shamed the girl, explaining Sarah Bartman and all. I was irritated and delighted at the same time. I didn’t say another word. She looked like she wanted to cry.🤷🏾♀️
Funky, Royce couldn't talk about it on basketball wives because she signed something or it was some legal situation, she stated that on basketball wives.
I remember when I was going through the workforce they told us that you shouldn’t have road rage because you never know if you roll down your window that could be your next boss and then when you go into an interview, you don’t have a chance
Wonder why all the writers and actors and everybody on the unions don't just come together pull their resources and start their own network and put out their own material and skip big corporate greed?
Distribution costs a LOT of money! Which is where the big corporations specialize...but I still like your idea! If it's gonna fix this mess for good? Then NOTHING is too expensive!
I also would like to know the fascination with our hair STILL in 2023. I still have woman that go over the top with the compliments on my hair and ask questions, and want to touch it. Or the “ I wish my hair was like yours” It can be uncomfortable. I’m not an animal.
I am a 55 year old black woman with natural hair. In church a Hispanic woman decided to 'pet' my hair. She stated that my friend and I were in competition to see who could get the 'biggest' hair. I being the most straight forward of the 2, told her "in church", 'Don't you ever touch my hair. We are not puppies for you to pet' ! Her feelings were hurt , but she did not apologize. It is offensive. I have no idea if you wash your hands 😮😢
I love your show! You guys are such a good match for this kind of show.. I started to watch it since last year and you guys got me hooked 😁… Now Daniva Miami is my hometown and I think i met u at Twist one time 😅 … Al you are very handsome and Claudia you are beautiful and love your work ethic and how you express yourself! Hugs 🫶🤗
I think the main reason Justina hasn't popped off is because she never had a hit song. And her age also plays a role. Most of the rap girl are in their early to mid 20s.
I wish they would have covered what she said on the breakfast to clarify her statement, she said white men have success in hip hop but not white women.
🤨35:12 You would think Claudia’s grown “educated” self would be wise enough to harbor some empathy. Myself and several others had loved ones & close friends who succumbed to the wrath of COVID & she’s petitioning for a round 2? *If there is another pandemic, I hope it makes it’s way to Claudia’s front doorsteps first.*
Yeah her comment was quite inventive, I get what she was thinking that the world is overpopulated but come on Claudia , your a veteran on these kinda shows - that was irresponsible.
Que …you go boy….I’m happy for you….you deserve love too!! Also I want you to know that you and AL are so intelligent …I don’t see sex…I see two grown intellectual black men who have their fingers on the pulse of the WORLD……..lean into your greatness
Nah you need to put into context what Justina was saying she specifically said White Male. She is correct if she was rapping the way she is as a white male she would have been much more successful... Iggy is an exception because she was more of pop rap so the pop fans embraced her
