If I build a basement with 12 ft ceilings I'll make sure to remember this product. 😊

I like it. Not really that different than other sub floor panels, but a lot easier to install. Other options I've looked at involved drilling anchors into the floor or gluing the sections together. Unfortunately, it still looks to thick for my basement. I don't have the headroom to give up 2 inches to the sub floor.

How long will this foam last, before it starts breaking down? I will have a pool table on it also.

problem with sealing a floor or wall same principle applies. there are leaks with these smaller click system. and the dam thing is made from osb.and not ply. the right way of doing these floors from a professional is dimple board, that goes up a few inches on the side of the wall, thats taped together. insulation board on top, T & G plywood screwed down to the floor. material wise it will be double the cost of these sold products plus labour .....but it's 100%

2" subfloor thickness? Come on. Most basements don't have 9 foot ceilings. By the time you put in that subfloor, ceiling (drywall or tiles) and any other duct framing, you will be walking around in the basement like the Hunchback of Notre Dame. COME ON MIKE! GIVE YOUR HEAD A SHAKE. How much are they paying you?

I just watched this and was thinking the same exact thing... every fraction of an inch counts when considering ceiling height in basements. And then for tile you have to install MORE plywood, boy he just glossed over that one! Smh

Available in Canada? The similar material I saw had foam half of the thickness . The full panel is 1” thick

@@phumes4783 what you linked to has an R value of about 1 which won't make a lot of difference in how cold the floor will be. If a 1 inch rigid foam board is placed between the dimple sheet and wood the R value will be about 5. OSB is perfectly fine for this application and the cost is much less than plywood.
@bwc1956
@bwc1956 2 года назад
I think the product you're referring to is Dricore R+ which has an R value of around 3. That might be ok if carpeting is used but if it's a vinyl product the floor might be too cold for your liking.

Should a person paint the basement floor with a sealant before flooring?
@bfullsyou
@bfullsyou 4 года назад
No. Escaped moisture onto floor, vapor or real water, needs to dry to the interior space of the room once inside. Same rule applies for below grade concrete walls.

Can you lay this first and then set your wall framing on top of this? I'd like to be able to set my walls on top of this to maintain a path for any seeping moisture in the walls to drain.

can you install on uneven floor,if you do have a flood how will it dry-up?
@bwc1956
@bwc1956 2 года назад
Floors need to be level. Check with the manufacturer of these and the flooring you are putting over this to find out the tolerances. It's usually between 1/16" to 1/4" per 10 ft. Use a grinder to remove high spots and self leveling compound to raise the low spots. Use leveling shims where necessary to support these to prevent any deflection once you have the floor level within tolerances. If it floods it will depend on how much and what flooring material is used. These are waterproof and if the flooring material is waterproof then it all will dry up. There's air flow underneath these to allow any water to dry up.

Can I build my non load bearings walls on top of it? Thank you!
@bwc1956
@bwc1956 2 года назад
Yes you can. It's preferred. Use 2 tapcons or ramset per 8 ft 2x4 to fasten wall down. To make it easier to put the walls up run 2x4's as a bottom blocking then place your preassembled walls on top of these 2x4's. This way the wall won't get jammed between the floor and rafters when you stand them up. The additional 2x4's is a minimal cost and allows you to stand the wall up without jamming against the rafters, then lift into place. Screw the walls to these 2x4's using 2" screws

from Wicki:The metric system has been officially sanctioned for use in the United States since 1866,[2] but the U.S. remains the only industrialised country that has not fully adopted the metric system as its official system of measurement, although in 1988 the United States Congress passed the Omnibus Foreign Trade and Competitiveness Act, which designates "the metric system of measurement as the preferred system of weights and measures for U.S. trade and commerce". Among many other things, the act requires federal agencies to use metric measurements in nearly all of its activities, although there are still some exceptions allowing traditional linear units to be used in documents intended for consumers. Many sources also cite the countries of Liberia and Myanmar (Burma) as the only other countries not to have done so.

In Canada we use whatever system works better in the situation. . When we weigh ourselves we use pounds. Drinks we use Litres. Alcohol ounces. Weed, grams and ounces. Burgers pounds. Construction feet and inches. Driving kilometers. Temperature is a mix bag. Freezing is zero and room temprature is 22 or 73 hot is 90 and really hot is 41. We call Pluto a Planet and we call your ninth planet what is really is the tenth: Planet X.

I always found Holmes to be a dramatist. Most people doing reno's cut corners to save a buck here and there and seeing this guy pick apart every job he sees and criticise for viewers sickens me. This is just another example of a paid endorsement of a mediocre product.

Because the extreme methods he uses would double or triple the cost of any project. You don't need to wrap every inch of your bathroom in that orange plastic stuff that he loves so much, for example.

@@phumes4783 You don't know what you are talking about. The method you have shown needs a OSB subfloor on top of it, using it without OSB or chipboard will crush the "bubble underlay".. Drybarrier does not crush. OSB molds and swells when water hits it. Drybarrier doesn't mold or swell and as anyone knows, anything organic such as OSB or any wood will grow mold. Plus Drybarrier lets air circulate in both directions underneath and is strong enough to withstand 11,500 lbs per sq. ft. www.drybarrier.com/

This system is not the best. Too many seams. You can't seal the seams with dri-core like you can with Delta or DMX membrane and with tongue and groove spruce plywood sheets. DO NOT use OSB. Yes - Dricore is convienent. That's about all it is. Moisture WILL come up between the joints.
