'Of course we defend free speech... we just want free speech to be protected inside this lovely lockbox that we've made for it.' The doublethink is staggering. If you are for against free speech, just say so; stop mangling the language.

He says you can believe whatever you want deep down and have your own private thoughts. Oh, gee, thanks! How very generous! You're just not allowed to write about it, publish it, distribute it, nor buy nor read the writings of others, nor discuss forbidden topics publicly. So it's perfectly fine for a tree to fall in the woods but no one is legally allowed to hear it.

Guess you do not believe in Freedom Speach. Why do you want to punish somebody having an opinion about something that was 80 years ago? What difference does their opinion make. A denier only is stating that they do not believe it happened, not that they agree with genocide.

Holocaust denial is NOT hate speech. Holocaust denial is not racism. The law is not the best tool against stupidity. Society has the best tool for it already. Ostracism. So let deniers be loud as they possibly can, that society may address their stupidity speedily.

There are so many things that are logically wrong with Mr. Smet's speech that I will not be abe to address them with my cellphone 1-finger typing. However. I will address all the holocaust arguments in the future. And my arguments will be definitive. I am appalled at the illogical statements by a so-called professor of philosophy who obviously knows not very much about the logical, historical, linguistic meaning of words nor sentences, nor of the logical meaning of "imply" , cause, effect, direct meaning, associated meanings( therefore illogical associated meanings) of the language that he used in his speech.

@@clabianco1 Then answer a question for me. Why would the Germans go to the trouble of using Hydrogen Cyanide? It is not an easy substance to work with, and much easier and cheaper ways to kill. Why not use the exhaust of a generator to create carbon monoxide. Sure they had generators. Before you can go into that an area that you have used hydrogen cyanide, you have to make sure all the gas is removed. Nasty stuff to work with. Personally, seems like taking the people out and killing then over their grave is a lot easier since less clean up. Do not have to haul the bodies anywhere or do any cleanup.

The naive bourgeois assumption that this guy makes is that the ideologue cares for laws that he/she perceives as control mechanisms that have been put in place by an 'occupying enemy' to silence them. To go to jail for these people is perceived as a badge of honour. Consider for example Ursula Haverbeck an 89 year old woman, she was given a 10 month sentence recently. Why would she at her age submit herself to a 10 month prison sentence? The more that go with such pride, the more attention they draw to this alternative history. For people will inevitably ask themselves why are these people so prepared to go to jail? What is it about this alternative history? Had these laws not been put in place few would have even realised that revision is a thing. The international Jewish congress estimates that 20+ million people have watched just 860 videos on the subject. Videos that if no rules existed would have probably faded into obscurity.

With 150 modern high efficient crematories , 24 hours a day nonstop burning, it would takes 18 years 97 day to dispose 6000000 bodies. WW2 equipment was lower efficiency and easily broken down. therefore it even took longer to do the job, if the event ever happened.

Seams like slight double think here, as he declares that the motions opposition wouldn't cause thought crime, without any rationale - Furthermore, I do not see how someone who denys the Holocaust is automatically commting hate speech but rather possibly just highly misinformed?

And how do you not know you are not misinformed? Remember Saddam's weapons of mass destruction, or the lie that China created COVID-19, or the lie that there were millions of illegal voters in 2016. Or the genocide of the Uyghurs? Have you ever given some of the arguments serious consideration?
