This lady is fantastic. She’s one step shy of saying “ get me a new interviewer “. She’s tough strong no nonsense and brave. I adore her. It’s no surprise she went on to become a highly successful business owner. What a woman.

Hilda Eisen is one tough lady. This is why this is the greatest generation. They had deep inner strength & faith. I love how she is brutally honest and explains everything. She tells what she wants & when she's pressed for dates and names, she says "you don't know them". I would've loved to have met her. She definitely doesn't look 84 here. God bless her, rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of knowing the Eisen family in Norco, California. They owned a huge egg ranch and my dad, 2 brothers my sister and I worke for them. This was my very first job. I had now idea that they were holocoust survivors, as a matter of fact I didn't know anything about the holocaust. Now that I know my heart goes out to them...

It would have been really something to have sat and listened to such a strong and vivid lady in person. Much of what she did not and would not say could be felt with a big impact (or so it was for me as a listener.) I appreciated her decisive reticence very much, as much as her descriptiveness so far as what she WOULD say. She has really impressed me very much. Knowing that she is no longer here on earth now doesn't change that. Not at all. She was quite feisty and has a new admirer, now and onwards. ❤ 💙 💜 💖 💗!

Hilda Eisen was 84 when this interview was taken in 2001. (She died in 2017 at the age of 100 as a millionairre!) Though she looks terrific for her age, her testimony is at times hard to follow. The Wikipedia page on her may help somewhat: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hilda_Eisen

Mrs. Eisen is truly one of a kind. Towards the last, when she said "America is a good country." I thought America is lucky to have you. By the way, she did look great for being 84 years old. I wish my hair would have looked that great when I was 34.

Many Poles took the opportunity to turn in Jews, but many were rescuers as well. Poland has the largest number of Righteous Gentiles recognized by Vad Yashem in Israel.

So many comments that the lady is grumpy. I really don't find that, lots of people have that manner. Just outspoken - you always know where you are with such people.

I listen to all these accounts and wow just heart breaking. Hilda Eisen was way too angry and was literally speaking down to the interviewer (that's the way it comes across). I had to stop listening to this story and go onto the next one.

Although I enjoyed this testimony [over 2 sittings] I really needed it to be captioned in quite a few places. When people are being interviewed with such a lot of content I feel it should have, possibly, been structured into specific months/years so that it could be easier to understand. This interview jumped quite a lot and, therefore, was difficult to follow. Thank you, Hilda, for your zest for life and partaking in this wonderful programme

She touches on a very important concept, she says openly that the Jewish didn’t like the non-Jewish, and the non-Jewish didn’t like the Jewish. It was very clearly a neutral thing. I think it’s important to understand that there was a lot of that feeling coming from both sides. Nowadays, people are given the impression that it was a fully one-sided thing and that the Germans hated Jewish people and it was all a one-sided hatred. But that is definitely not the case, there were a lot of feelings of hatred and resentment coming from both sides leading up to the war. This is always the case when you have a situation where a minority wants to establish with in a place but not really mingle and interact much with the majority except to make money. This is just like the current situation with Muslims in Europe. Many Europeans/Canadians and Americans for have such negative feelings about Muslims and one of the big reasons is this situation. Also, this is definitely not the only survivor who has described the neutral dislike. I have heard this idea being expressed by many of the survivors in interviews.

I was going to say the same. Sometimes it was almost as if she blamed the interviewer for her ignorance of a world she never even experienced . . . . First testimony of many I have watched with such a attitude, like she was just waiting to take it out on the interviewer. What a shame what they have went through in that generation though, so, guess it's justified.

I don’t like her sassy attitude at all. She is being rude to the interviewer. If she was so annoyed to provide a testimony she didn’t have to. It’s a little hard to follow her. I’m sorry she lived such a hard life in Europe. My heart goes out to all the survivors.

I feel sorry for the interviewer. Sometimes there just is no why but I find the lady being interviewed is just a bit abrasive. She has a very important story to tell but I feel shes a bit frustrated with the interviewer.

The survivor seemed annoyed, rude, blunt and disrespectful to the interviewer at times. I normally watch the holocaust testimonials until the end, but this lady I couldn't watch. Why she did this interview, only she knows. I feel sorry for the interviewer. Cheers

I understand that they were a different generation and they have gone through worst thing in the world. But she is very combative and arrogant towards the poor interviewer who is respectful and still doing her job. It almost feels like she is angry because the interviewer is from a generation that has not suffered any of what she suffered and gone through. She accepted to be interviewed yet she speaks to the interviewer as if she is probing her and steps out of her place.
