Love the videos and the research you do. Very informative, methodical and concise. I also love the holster I got from your company. I've seen your light shootout videos and I thought it would be interesting to see a video of a light shootout from one particular brand at a time(the best Surefire or best Olight). Then take the best of each brand and have a best of the best shootout. That way if someone is partial to one brand over another they can watch one video of that manufactures lights and make a decision of which light from that brand would work best for their application. Keep up the great work gents!

I actually sort of like the low mode pitch dark situations. It doesn't totally screw your night adjusted vision. Personally, I feel like it's just one more thing to break though, and I'm not a fan of using a weapon light in general as a civilian. I try and avoid pointing my weapon at anything before it's been positively ID'd.
@abc4781
@abc4781 Год назад
@Michael Hossle-Assle So how do you PID in in the dark without a light?
@BuckFoeJiden
@BuckFoeJiden Год назад
@abc4781 I do use a light, it's just not mounted on the front of my pistol. In a tactical or home defense setting, pistol lights are fine. If it's an EDC/CCW you may want to look at your state/local laws on brandishing a firearm. Remember, when the light is mounted on the gun, whatever you point the light at is also being flagged by your muzzle. Personally, if I'm in a position where I need a flashlight to ID a potential attacker, I've already screwed up on the grounds of situational awareness and making smart choices... in the event I do find myself in that position, though, I'll probably just fall back on what I've trained on as military police in the past, and a civilian now: Hold the light in my non dominant hand with the tailcap at my thumb, and rest my firing hand on my non dominant wrist. Sure, you're lacking on followup shot speed, but if you're fighting with a flashlight in the dark, that's probably not going to be an issue. I like the idea behind a weapon light, it's garbage laws that make them a potential problem. 🤷‍♂️

I don’t know why ppl bash on press in paddles. Although I have to use the Surefire X300 for duty and have gotten used to it, I don’t really care for the flip down switches. It doesn’t feel natural to me. Press in switch on the other hand feels more natural for me, which is why I always wanted to like the Inforce APL models but we all know Inforce sucks. This light from Holosun looks promising. Thx!

@WerkzHolsters
@WerkzHolsters Год назад
Many others seem to share your thoughts on this...
@BuckTheSystem
@BuckTheSystem Год назад
Jan, I tend to agree that a low mode is pointless (with weapon mounted lights, at least), ESPECIALLY if we're talking about something like an Olight PL3 Werkz reviewed where you can never be sure which mode you're going into. However, since Holosun was smart and made it so that you have to very deliberately switch to the low mode and you can eliminate the fear that you'll accidentally activate it, I actually think this could be useful for training. Most of the actual low/no-light shooting I do is done out in the woods where there's zero light at all, and since halving the output should double my battery life without actually risking anything, I could see switching to low mode for situations like that and just always carrying it on high mode. As easy as batteries are to change and as cheap as 18350s are, this shouldn't really even be necessary, but when you might only get like 30 minutes out of a battery I suppose it is a nice feature. Plus if you're doing a lot of reps you can avoid getting the light hot and throttling the performance anyway. For that reason, as a feature that doesn't hurt the usability or experience at all, I'm glad they included it. I have the P.ID High Candela version on the way, along with a holster for it, and I'm pretty exited to try it. Since the high mode is like 42,000 candela and the low mode is half of that, it should still match the performance of my TLR-1s. I think that would be plenty bright for most of the actual training that I do.
@WerkzHolsters

Someone needs to create a Bluetooth touch screen style button that can go on the accel cuts, or gas pedal area, that communicates with lights. That way no extra pressure is added to the light, causing point of impact shifts, and makes use and accuracy less of a training curve and forefrontal brain factor. Also, screw Surefire, with their "activates when drawn" feature. That will definitely get cops and CCW folks killed. Giving away any tactical position, and also reduces battery life. For a lot of people it is going to be a selling point, and Holosun will sell a ton of these--look at how many people have the Olights... But I agree--for me, being able to replace batteries as needed is a must.

@@charlie-tangomotors2516 Exactly. Stock up on a few, carry charged ones like you do CR123s, and cycle out as needed. But you don't throw them away, and you have the option to charge on the weapon.
