Anyone who has lived on Staten Island knows about Holtermann’s Bakery. This local institution can lay just as much claim to the island as the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge or Staten Island Ferry. Opened in 1878, Holtermann’s has been owned and operated all this time by the same family.
