Hi all,
Today we are starting a series on CROPPING. I get a lot of questions about how to crop and why crop works the way it does. This is video one in the series and this video talks about the theory of how cropping works. Video two will show crop in action and I show you how to do a little more with cropping. The third video in the series will talk about cropping using the start/end button. I love the crop feature in Pro-Stitcher but do understand it takes some time to realize what is going on. I hope this help.
As always, thanks for watching,
Adam
AT THE END OF THE DAY, IT'S JUST QUILTING!!

Adam you are so adorable and such a great teacher!! You saved me today when you helped me with my problem. It made me so happy and I spent the rest of the day sewing different designs and watching your videos. Just watched this one and learned how much there is to learn about crop theory. I promise that is my last freak out (til next time)! Thank you again!! It’s Sept now. I feel so far behind!!

Awesome video on cropped. Had a panel with 16 9” squares. Followed your video and did different patterns in each block. Now if I can just remember next time. Only have had Prostitcher a few months, a lot to learn. Thank you for your videos.

Hi Adam, I love all your videos, you are a great teacher. I would like to know how I get the lines background so I can practice this class. Sorry, I am new in all about Pro-Stitcher. Thank you so much for all your help.
@adamsewfun.
@adamsewfun. 2 года назад
I actually created the lines background in Pro-Stitcher Designer, I’m not sure if there is a design like this to purchase. You can practice cropping with any design though.

Thank you for all of your easy to understand videos. On the outside crop of the circle with horizontal lines, is there a way to make the outline or travel lines go around the whole circle instead of just one side?
@adamsewfun.
@adamsewfun. Год назад
You can’t direct PS where to stitch, it will just take the path it wants. Most of the time it makes sense but not always.

Hi Adam, I have used crop when I'm doing edge to edge, one of the designs however, when I cropped and did my edges, I couldn't find my start, I had a heck of a time doing the rows because I couldn't find when the design started. Maybe that particular design wasn't the best choice for cropping? Maybe you could show doing an edge to edge and cropping. Thank you, this video helped me lots!!!
@adamsewfun.

Judith, I assume you use the start point when you are advancing your quilt. The only thing I can think of is switching the method up when you are cropping something and have the closed edges that cover the start point. I do have a video of how I advance. I see how that can be a problem when the overstitching on the side covers that start point.

This was great - is there a way to stitch around the areas once it’s all cropped away to complete in stitched spaces?

Hi Adam, Loved your video on cropping can't wait for the next video to do multicable cropping. I have been searching for longarm applique designs but can't find any. Do you know where to get them?
@adamsewfun.
@adamsewfun. 3 года назад
Check the website for Anita Shackelford. She has some Trim Backgrounds that are made to go around appliqué. I haven't used them but I know others who love them. Here is a link www.anitashackelford.net/trim-backgrounds.html

Thank you! This is exactly the information I needed! Your videos are superb! I’ve been using ProStitcher for years and the overstitching around appliqué has proven to be a real problem. And I’ve never gotten good with Art and Stitch, so thanks for the theory and resources! Excellent teacher and a joy to watch!

Hey Adam, great video. I am wondering how to take an area and crop the regular design out and then echo the inside of the area based on the area design. In the case of a crop around an appliqué, i made an area to crop out the inside. Then i wanted to echo the appliqué inside. If you get my drift. Thanks. diane
@adamsewfun.
@adamsewfun. 2 года назад
One way would be to use Designer. If you have it activated on your tablet, you can send the workspace to Designer, the area would be included in that. Using the area element, you could use the echo feather and work inside the design The other way would be to use Pro-Stitcher to stitch the area, then select the area and resize it and have Pro-Stitcher stitch the area again. Continue this process until you have stitched the desired number of echos. Not fast but it can be done.

You mentioned digital programs for appliqué. I have a quilt with a lot of appliquéd words. What program would you recommend?
@adamsewfun.
@adamsewfun. Год назад
Quiltable has some designs called trim blocks. Those are made to work behind appliqué and easily crop but not sure how they would work with words.
@cyndielynn

Just curious how do you use the trim backgrounds?
@adamsewfun.
@adamsewfun. 3 года назад
Most of the time they are behind embroidery designs or specific elements on a block.
